From Wikipedia
The AgustaWestland AW139 is a 15-seat medium-sized twin-engined helicopter developed and built by AgustaWestland, now called Leonardo. It is marketed at several different roles, including VIP/corporate transport, offshore transport, fire fighting, law enforcement, search and rescue, emergency medical service, disaster relief, and maritime patrol.[3] In addition to AgustaWestland's manufacturing facilities in Italy and the United States, the AW139 is produced in Russia by HeliVert, a joint venture between AgustaWestland and Russian Helicopters.
The AW139 was originally designed and developed jointly by Agusta and Bell Helicopters and marketed as the Agusta-Bell AB139, being redesignated AW139 when Bell withdrew from the project. Since entering service in 2003, the AW139 has become one of AgustaWestland's most influential products; it has been subsequently developed into two enlarged medium-lift helicopters, the military-orientated AW149 and the AW189 for the civil market. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
I absolutely love the sound of the AW139's engines. Just something about that power and sound they produce. They are some of the most impressive helicopters I've seen having observed a few flying over my local park.
man i just love the LAFD paint scheme on those aw139s, the aw139 is a badass helo
You & I both love this livery and I agree they are one badass chopper, Thank you for watching 👍😎
@@EdWhisenantAviation yeah anytime :)
I didn't know that AW139s were used in aerial firefighting. They look great in the LAFD paint!
I think LAFD has 5 of these AW139's - Thank you for checking it out 👍😎
Great catch! Thanks for posting. Bell ought to be kicking themselves in the butt right now as they had begun development of this machine together with Agusta Westland [now Leonardo] as the AB 139. This machine has become a runaway success globally and a direct competitor to the 412.
ya, I bet they really are also. Thank you for watching 😎👍
Well! it's not really like that, below is the true story of the AW139 and its brother AW609..
In the second half of the 1990s Agusta began the development of a new medium non-specialized helicopter that could replace the Bell Huey family helicopters, which it itself produced under license. In 1998 Agusta and Bell formed the joint venture Bell/Agusta Aerospace Company (BAAC) aimed at the development of two projects: the first, led by Agusta, for a medium helicopter called AB139 and the second, led by Bell, for a tiltrotor which later became the AW609. In September 2000, the English Bristow Helicopters became the first customer of the new helicopter.[5]

NO FRICKIN WAY ED, THIS ISN'T REAL. Never ever seen a LAFD Leonardo AW139 at Whiteman Airport. What was he doing there ??
Yes Way My Friend an AW139 at Whiteman Airport flew in for display at Whiteman airport for the EAA Chapter 40 Young Eagles Flights (no flights in the AW139) Thank you so much for watching 👍😎🚁
I know right!?
@@rorygallegos7581 Hello Roy, it was nice seeing it up so close 👍😎
@@rorygallegos7581 yep.
@@EdWhisenantAviation well thank you sir and as always, enjoy your videos. 👌👍 reason I added my 2 cents is I go waaay back with Whitman airport where I used to hike the hills behind it and before they added the hangers close to the hillside, I used to watch when l.a.p.d. would do some hovering maneuvers and sometimes one of em would jump out, place a weighed down milk crate in that empty seat and Continue to do whatever the maneuver they we're doing at that time. That was the only time I ever saw a "city bird" at the airport....ahhh memories lol. Your dedication to helicopters and aircraft shows and I'm one that appreciates your videos. Thank you 👏👍✌
Bro just stuck a GE90 in the helicopter
General Electric GE90 Now that would be a rocket ship 👍👍😎😎
What the heck is that doing at white man airport Ed?
