I didn't do it for financial sense more so because I have a sentimental connection with the car as I have had it for 5 years & it has been a great car that I very much enjoyed. If you have a 2 valve go ahead and throw a supercharger on there, those cars don’t make much on a NA setup. If it’s high mileage try to find a motor with lower miles and throw that in as well. Replace suspension components and that’s pretty much it… for the most part, these cars are getting older and older down the line something will break so make sure you have backup money. Also do NOT go over 350 at the wheels with these cars they don’t hold much power. And can blow up pretty easily.

    • @gerald4535
      @gerald4535 Před 2 lety +3

      The motor can hold well over 350 to the wheel. Many have their setup doing more. After about 400-450, that's when the bottom end should be built.

    04 GT 2V 4.6 143xxx miles. 10 psi P1SC. I think of it like this. As long as long as compression checks out, it is important to not slouch on supporting modifications supporting what you are doing. Stock internals only handle so much regardless of mileage so I keep mine at around 400 whp but with a very conservative-safe tune. There are enough high mileage Mustangs out there that are boosted but being educated about not slouching on parts, GOOD tune and keeping power safe for stock internals is key in my opinion too

    Turbo doesn't mean boost only at high rpm that is determined by the size of the turbo or turbos relative to the engine. That is what makes twins appealing because you can size them smaller for better spool down low on the hit but since there is 2 you still got the airflow to make power up top too. You wanna size them correctly to eliminate as much lag as possible. It won't come on instant like a supercharger there will always be a slight delay regaurdless with a turbo but you can spool to a decent amount if not full boost by 3k-3.5k i wouldn't call that high rpm. Just gotta size it correctly same thing applies to superchargers. People run these big kb and whipples and they don't hit the same down low on the hit ecspecially if you have them turned down on pump gas. That is what makes the tvs blowers so great they have awesome power on the hit and lots of torque down low but they can make some pretty good steam up top as well. They're ideal for stock engine builds with terminator/gt500/coyotes imo. They're ideal even with older mustangs if they got a built motor but even on stock motor those vmp blowers are great. That is a nice whipple.

    Its not as crazy as people make it out to be... 01 gt, bought a totaled (rear) 2004 cobra from wrecked toyz, pulled out everything I could from the cobra, engine, trans, ecu, mounts, brackets, fuel pump, suspension components that would work, all of it, rear end shaft, everything, ordered conversion brackets and some odds and ends online about 600.00 worth, but... once I stripped the rest of the cobra, sold the seats, console, headliner, door sills, gauges, mirrors and one door, front bumper, fogs and facia, wheels (3) headlights and the rear spoiler, shit i even popped off the build plate and sold it for 20.00, then sold all the gear outta my gt, heavily modified engine, new clutch trans radiator ecu everything i was stripping out, the cobra had 36k on the clock and a kenne bell charger, 8100 for the cobra, 600.00 on parts, sold all the stuff i could totaled 7946.00, so i cobra swapped my gt for 900.00 and alot of my time, so totally worth it... returned it at dallas mustang before they went bankrupt... its a shame, but i couldnt love my car more, so worth it...

    SHOULD YOU BOOST A 99-04 (NEW EDGE) MUSTANG? You have to! When I got my 2002 GT (brand new) it felt underpowered. It was underpowered. 260 hp (220rwhp) from a v8? Bolt-ons didn't help. So I did my research and got the KB 2.1, the Mach 1 / Bullit suspension kit and brakes, got rid of the boost-a-pump and the KB intercooler, and got the Terminator dual pumps with an upgraded Terminator intercooler, moved the battery to the trunk and put a decent intercooler water tank. I still have stock internals, with a conservative tune, 10 psi and very little mileage (70k in 2022). And of course good tires. Currently 4 Michellin PS 4s, 255/18s - 285/18s. Starts with the crank gts cast, no good for boost. 99 02 4v cobras forged cranks, that's it rods and pistons are not. The best is to have all forged rotating assembly. Then you can build big power and not worry about breaking your motor. Don't forget bigger injectors, and bigger mass airflow, like off a ford lightning. You did mention bigger fuel pump and tune. Do all this and there's no looking back. Now you can run with the big boys. Power cost money. Especially when your talking 500hp + at the wheels. Thank you. Like your stuff. JT.

I also disagree with what was said in the video as a turbo does not always require "High RPM" to make boost. It all depends on sizing. There are plenty of small twin turbos that make full boost around 3000 rpm which isn't that bad. Either way, boost = Fun.
