The cool thing with alestorm now is that even if they stay in the folk idea and still talk about pirate stuff, they now are like an experimental band, they have lots of different stuffs that they use (Elliot screaming, two keyboards, awesome guitarist and bassist...) so their songs are rly different, you can't judge the band without knowing at least 10other songs I think!

I love how they combine their usual style with some of those more "modern" riffs and make it work so well.
Expanding their sound with something that I often felt was misused, and mixing it into something creative and fresh.
Everything about Alestorm (first heard them way back in the 2000s on Pandora) is just full of awesome & win. I’ve bought so many of their songs & I’m not even sorry. And I absolutely love how they continue to use little people in their videos & share not only the stage, but screen time. I seriously would recommend this band to anyone. I’m even getting my son to tune into them.

When did elliot join the band. I haven't listened to alestorm in a long time and this came up on my recommended and thought I'd check out what alestorm was up to and noticed a new member as well with a new sound.
Elliots first appearrance was on the "In the Navy" single if I remember correctly, so around 2012-2013. You can tell that he helped improving Alestorm's sound a lot, especially the keyboard work on "Sunset on the Golden Age" made this album stand out for me.

I really dont get all those negative comments, like "Omg, they sold out, they arent Alestorm anymore". Because of metalcore segments, or what? Ok, those aside, this is as much an Alestorm song, as Alestorm song can be. Accordion is there, cheery pirate - like melody is there (even in those 'metalcore' parts, you can hear it if you listen well), lyrics about pirates and drinks are there and last, but not least, midgets are there :D If nothing, "Magnetic North" felt less like an Alestorm song, than this one. Well, at least for me.
But in the end, who cares. All that matters are wenches and rum. And keep up the good work. Untill next time \m/.

old Alestorm is good and so is the newer Alestorm. One thing that I`ve noticed though is that I`m finding more good tracks with more recent Alestorm releases as their skill is getting leveled up , arrrr

Nekrogoblikon arguably has near the same amount of humor in their music and videos if you look for it, what with their whole 'our manager is a goblin' schtick. Seeing both bands together in concert a few years ago was a real treat, definitely two of my favorite metal bands.
