#thedoors #lightmyfire #jimmorrison - Zábava
Very iconic band, there music is very psychedelic, electric, and pure rock masterpieces of the time
It sounds gloriously of it's time in a way but no one else ever sounded like them so it stays fresh.
1967! This is the beginning. It started a fire in many people's hearts that still burns today. This song is my life.
It's great to see a young guy discovering one of the 20th century's best rock songs and rock bands.
Glad you’re getting into this iconic band and the irrepressible Jim Morrison. So much of their discography to discover. No, Ewan, you’re not yelling! Don’t worry about that. Enjoyed your facial expressions (great smile) and reactions while listening to the song. Not what you expected? Hmmm, wondering, what exactly were you expecting? What next to discover? Listen to LA Woman. That is iconic Jim Morrison and the Doors. Touch Me is essential Doors, too. Riders on the Storm is another one. Thanks for taking the time to make this video and thanks for sharing.
This is a song you listen to in your room, laying on your bed, in the dark, and just listening.
Fun Fact:
During the recording of this song Jim Morrison finishes his lyric at 1:05, and leaves the studio.
He walks down in to downtown L.A., buys some weed, & has a smoke. He then spots a diner across the street and realizes that he's hungry. Goes in, orders a burger. The diner hasn't gotten it's beef delivery that day so he settles on a hot turkey sandwich. It's not bad as far as turkey sandwiches go. He pays, he leaves. Unfortunately he's still a little bit stoned and now lost so he's forced to hop on a bus and ride it around the city until he spots a familiar billboard near the recording studio. Outside the studio are a couple hippy girls that becon him into the bushes for some afternoon fun. Just as he gets his pants down he hears the Light My Fire chorus notes start up again from an open studio window. Jim rushes back into the studio and rejoins the band just in time to finish singing the last 1:30 of the song.
One of my favorites.
Ray Manzarak plays ,in every songs of the doors, keyboard and bass at the same time
Brilliant!
Happy birthday Jim
Understand Jim!!!!
Oh the End is a great song to react to, will give you the whole Doors experience! The first album is awesome Soul Kitchen from it is one of my favorites from it. But any Doors song I'm currently listening to is my favourite 😅
here you go man. i'm 20, the doors are my absolute favorite. i have an almost 4 hour playlist of my "favorite" doors songs. any you choose, you can't really go wrong
side note, Ray (the keyboard player) also played the bass lines with his left hand at the same time, they didn't have a bass player
Be prepared for a trip with The Doors.
Please do ROAD HOUSE BLUES , studio version also need to watch the Doors on the ED Sullivan TV show preform Light My Fire !!....also do RIDERS ON THE STORM and LA WOMAN and HELLO I LOVE YOU !!
The Doors are a different band
Hard to compare with any other band
But a good reaction to do is Roadhouse Blues you’ll see how Mr Morrison used his voice like an instrument a big difference from light my fire
And it’s so hard to pick a favorite song by them
There’s
Break on Through
Peace Frog
5 to 1
Changeling
Crystal Ship
Just to name a few great Doors songs
But thank you for this reaction!!!
Keep em coming
Subscribing because of this reaction
It wasn't what I expected. I've often heard people say this a about a song they've heard for the first time and, more importantly, from a group or artist they've never listened to and in some cases have never heard of. Unless a band is identified with a certain genre, it's impossible to hazard a guess as to what it's going to sound like. So let's give the act due respect on a first time listen; hey these guys are different.
You won't find a band with a similar sound to The Doors. Jim Morrison was a fantastic vocalist, and Ray Manzarek absolutely killed it on the electric organ. Some of my favourite songs are Roadhouse Blues and The Crystal Ship. The Alabama Song is also an interesting one. Fun fact: David Bowie also did a version of that song and its a common misconception he covered it from The Doors, but the song was actually written in 1925 by the German poet Bertolt Brecht, so both versions are technically covers.
bowie had one of the keenest eyes on music then any musician from the past. he would observe an early emerging scene, soak it in, glean from it & then respin it w/ his own signature. you have a good ear b/c bowie imo was a fervent early listener of the doors. he was rumored to be at the roundhouse doors show in london in '68 in the audience. more important he became very good friends w/ iggy pop the same year morrison died. iggy pop knew morrison since he was first signed by their label when morrison was w/ them too. iggy pop was also highly influenced by morrison. point is he & bowie I'm sure conferred a lot on that. the concept for ziggy was created that year also in the fall. its archetype figure ziggy is very similar to the persona ascent & fall of the lizard king. bowie just added androgynous elements do it. but the doomed rock martyr is the arc of the morrison legend. & yes the crooning that bowie used in songs like china girl are very sinatra & morrison influenced. good ear.
Great choice for a first time listen to the band as this song would have been most of the world’s first reaction to them. Their first hit song off their first album.
When you do “Roadhouse Blues” React to the Official video version. Great song but with a lot of fantastic clips of the band from various sources and live shows.
Also recommending the official video for “Break on Through”
And recommending you listen to the studio recording of my personal favorite from the band,
“Not To Touch The Earth”
I love this song!
Some other classic songs from them
“People Are Strange”
“The Crystal Ship”
“Riders of the Storm”
Strange Days”
“Alabama Song”
I prefer the studio version of Roadhouse Blues. That harmonica is half of the song's essence, imo.
The Doors didn't have a bass player. Ray Manzarek played keyboards AND the bass organ. Many bands have sounded like Zepplin, Stones, and others. But I have never heard ANY band compared to The Doors. They have 2 kinds of songs. Short and sweet rock songs. And long, moody compositions.
The Tea Party were said to be the Doors of the 90's. I could see why but nah imo!
I can't listen. This version is playing too fast. Here is the correct speed: czcams.com/video/qoX6AKuYWL8/video.html
