Are knock off PS4 Dualshock 4 controllers really that bad?

I don't know where you can get one either. It's a shame because this was a knock off that actually worked.

That one in a million chance when you buy a knock off controller that's as good as the original.
happened to me with amazon but its actually dope its just not official but still I'm returning it to get a legit one cause I paid full price for the fake!
Two years ago, i bought an obviously knock off doulshock4 ( doesn't even have the sony logo lol ) because the price was so cheap, it still function perfectly, it last as long as the real ones, it just lighter, funny thing is the legit real dualshocks i have must of them developed analog issues with the time, the fake one hasn't..
@@bigishsmallishblack lmao, that's good and bad at the same time
I got a knock off one the other week. It works perfectly. But i can hear a frizzy noise in the speaker of the controller any ideas what that's about?
@@abu3azb What brand is it? I want one
The problem is when you spend full price on a controller thinking you're getting a real one, but get ripped off with a fake one. It has happened to me recently, and it sucks. It would be worth it, if I actually paid $20 for it but I paid full price for a fake and at that point it's not worth it.
I need a knock off just for some player 2 action, unless you're bringing your own dualshock 4.
I bought a licensed 3rd party controller a few months back. It isn't even wireless yet cost more than this knock off.

If there was ever a knock off 20th Anniversary controller, I bet they'd be selling like hotcakes.
I'd buy one if the quality was on par with this one.
@@RetroCore i agree
Hotcakes don't really sell....
I wish I could find some replacement shells in that design.
That controller looks hella sweet, but fuck Sony.
Bro yes I want 20th anni clone ps4 controller cause real one is expensive plus I love 20th anni one
I discovered a pretty interesting trick using an android phone to differentiate between fake and original.
Hold down (ps + share)btns and then go to your mobile phone bluetooth settings and connect to the ps controller which will be shown as "Controller"
After connecting,if the ps controller continues blinking white, then its a fake controller. Because originals show blue light after connection.
It becomes blue or red
Mine is fake but lights up vibrant blue.
Wrong i bought extra from sonys physical store itself. i noticed different phones has different color lights. In my iphone it lights up red in my Samsung its blue in my other android its color white. It changes to different phone brands.
You know sometimes the inside is almost the same as the original one, the exception being the microcontroller board. That being said, you can sometimes salvage the inside of a fake to fix the original one if you know what you are doing
Yeah some parts on a fake are compatible with a real Sony and worth salvaging.
now people will buy a crap ton of rip-off's to have an unlimited amount of parts to fix their original ones
They're also doing knock off Switch pro controllers now, they're nigh-on identical too!
I wonder how well they hold up?
@@RetroCore the vibration is a lot stronger apparantly.
@@RetroCore I bought some this morning, quality wise there's absolutely zero difference, but internally there's a stronger rumbler, and there's no RF scanner for Amiibos, but they're a fifth of the price of official ones.
@@Larry Hi Larry. 😉
Damn, don't tell me I also got scammed with a fake switch controller as well SMH
I remember getting the knockoff PS3 controller way back ago. It was working quite ok but it didnt had the sixaxis sensor built in :P Times are changing I guess
There were a quite a few knockoffs under the PS3
I learned to really enjoy the wide old school Nintendo 64 looking one's. They were sturdy but you had to always plug it in... The other one's were just as great but the amount of batteries that had to be used weren't worth it... All in all I would stock up on 2 anytime my 5-6 months limit was up
I had a few knock offs for the ps3 and the biggest problem I came across with them was with the analogue sticks. When the sticks are rotated on an official controller they made a smooth circle but the knock offs made octagons. I found this out playing Okami. Do you know if it is the same for the ps4 ones?
I've not noticed that on the knock off I have. The driving sections on Fist of the North Star felt perfectly normal.
My fake ps4 controller has a problem on the left analogue stick. When I tested it on a diagnostic tool for controllers, it doesn't rotate smoothly and it flickers on corners which makes it impossible to play without noticing some hiccups and stutters.
Ya i got one yesterday....and my analog sticks suck balls! Fuck and i sold my original! Im pissed!
yes
Great Video. Were you able to test if they had identical battery life? I'm still using a dualshock 3 and it has a rating of 20-30 hrs, compared to dualshock 4's 4-8 hr. I saw some dualshock 4 knockoffs with only 1-4 hr rating, but the majority of these sellers don't list any specific info. Unfortunately the link in description is dead too.
The fake one has about 1 hour less battery life than the official. This isn't so great since an official controller doesn't have the best battery life as it is.
I'll have to keep these in mind whenever I get around to finally getting a PS4. Definitely would be a good spare or second controller if a friend comes over.

Facts
As someone who has been taking apart loads and loads of different controllers for different machines to clean and service them over the years, I can safely say that for each generation that has passed the build quality of the official controllers no matter the console brand has gotten worse and worse. I had to clean up and fix both a Dualshock 4 and an Xbox One controller which had drinks spilled on them making the buttons sticky and unusable, and while they both were hilarously cheaply built the Xbox One controller takes the cake as the worst official controller ever built when it comes to buildquality imo.
The darn thing was nearly impossible to take apart without breaking it! Every screw was hidden behind weak plastic tabs that could snap clean off by just looking at them. But eventually I got it apart and somehow still in one piece and things got even worse! The circuitboard inside was total trash with weak solderjoints and components that wasn't even soldered on to the board at all! The 3,5 mm audiojack was just sitting there relying on the pressure from the case to hold it in place and make contact with bare pads on the board! "Is this a joke?" I thought to myself when I saw that! And then the wires to the rumblemotors kept snapping off from the board and they were almost impossible to solder back since the solder just wouldn't stick to it. Then it was a nightmare to put it back together as well since the darn wires to the rumble kept snapping off all the time! Total rubbish!
Quality has taken a huge dip on the official stuff nowadays. I mean if even a super-cheap knock-off controller can keep up with an official one nowadays, you know you have a problem with your design :p Sorry for the long comment, but thought I wanted to share my thoughts on this subject :) My favourite controllers will always be the 6-button Mega Drive, SNES and the Dualshock 2. The worst imo are the N64, Dreamcast, Xbox 360 and the very early Sixaxis controllers for the PS3.
The Xbox 360 gamepad is amazing. The best and most comfortable controller ever built. The Xbox One gamepad is a step down, while still good. The Switch Pro Controller is pretty good as well but way to expensive.
I'm very sure the Xbox One controller did that to prevent people from opening it (yea it sucks). Tbh the only one I never opened is the Switch Joycon and the very old ones but I'm hearing it's not that good quality wise either
@@XennialGeek The reason I don't like the 360 controller is because of the giant batterypack in the back. It made it very hard for me to get a comfortable grip since I have very big hands and pretty long fingers and they kept bumping into the battery giving me cramps after a very short amount of time. The D-pad was also beyond awful on it and I also don't like the assymetrical sticks. The Switch Pro is better, but it also has those assymetrical sticks that I don't like and it just feels very cheap for its high price. I prefer the PS contollers because the sticks are symetrical and they are closer to both the main buttons and the d-pad which just works and feels better in my hands.
@@TheBurk1989 The battery pack doesn't bother me, but I can understand why someone not like it. The D-Pad is fine although there are better ones there. However the BEST part about this controller type are the asymmetrical analog sticks. This layout is so much more comfortable, sensible and natural to hold than the symmetrical style. I honestly don't understand why this style still exists. It is uncomfortable and causes your hands to cramp up after a while. Especially with controller as small as the Dualshock prior to 4. The Dualshock 4 is barely big enough to not be a big pain in the butt. Al prior versions were way to small. I don't even have big hands and get cramps after using these for a while.
I agree with you, the older controllers han better plastics and better rubber membranes. Not all ds2 controllers are the same, though, and some of those feel prettt bad as well...
Do you know if I can make the connection of the remote control wired to the pc instead of the wireless connection using the usb cable of the control?
Parts market in Shenzhen, massproduction makes the original parts dirt cheap, lower quality parts cost more due to less volume, they also sell variants without Sony logo.
The problem is that if you happen to buy this from a second retailer claiming it’s an original and they take the full price as the original. They are false marketing for smaller retailers that want to make a buck extra.
this is why you need to order more and more things online today
This, however, is not a problem if you INTENTIONALLY want a knockoff one.
Knock off controllers are a big no, there's always something up with em and they die. I went through 3 Wii CCPro fake's in 6 months, had several fake nun chucks fail, had a fake PS3 controller which eventually died and the buttons were raised too much. Avoid knockoff controllers, buy cheap buy twice.
Edit: see even the reviewer had switched back to the original controller, tells you all you need to know, the fake is inadequate
I still use the gold one when playing 2 player games. My son prefears it to the 3rd party one he's been using.
For the week or so I used it I had no issues besides the D-pad feeling different. How long it will last is another thing though.
how long does the battery usually stay?
The real problem with knockoff controllers in my experience is the QA and the sensitivity/precision of the analog sticks. If you try playing an old game like GTA San Andreas and aiming with the knockoffs, it's nearly impossible. The buttons will also not register as consistently or will sometimes not register unless you press them harder or from certain angles, which is actually very important to not taking you out of the game.
Finally someone who answered the question. Not all heroes wear capes😂🤣🤣
I need one for when the buddy’s come around! Where can I buy one?
I wish there is comparison for latency & weather it have dead zone issue or not.
Take it apart , I'm curious if the p.c.b is identical? ...
I could do that but I doubt they are the same. Would be interested though.
@@RetroCore please do this
Certainly they are not the same inside.
When you connect a game controller in steam does its say ps4 controller or generic?
I really agreed with the XB1 comparison tbh. I use both, and the quality just didn't feel the same, and the internal chassis reflects that too
Glad you agree. So many PlayStation fanboys just can't accept that the PS4 official controller feels cheap compared to the Xbox One controller. Also, the disc drives on Sony systems are cheaper too. They sound rough and do not take the disc in smoothly. The one on the Xbox One X and Series X are silky smooth and sound premium.
@@RetroCore Sorry for necroposting/late Rey, but Sony hardware is built like crap, and the disc drives? They're a horrible point of failure in some cases. I have a PS4 with a broken disc drive that doesn't take in discs any more
I need a DUALSHOCK®4 to play cod mobile with, will a knock off work or do I need a original ?
I don't have a dualshock 4 knock-off but a dualshock 3 one. When I bought i thought it was legit, as it looks and feels almost identical. I only noticed when I replaced the battery with a bigger one. The knock-off has a simpler PCB and is easier to dis- and reassemble. Another big plus for the dualshock 3 knock-offs is that you can charge these with a phone charger, that won't work with an original dualshock 3 as these require the USB data lines to be connected. That alone makes the DS3 knock-offs better than the original.
I use one as a controller on my PC with a CSR 4.0 USB Bluetooth adapter. The bluetooth adapter was $2 and the controller was about $6 here in the Philippines. I'm using v1.6.238.16010 of scptoolkit with a modified dll that's easy to find on google. The controller reports itself as "panhai" which is a common DS3 knockoff.
Very useful comment. Thanks for sharing.
@@fiftyfuckingfeet so the oem ps3 controller do work with Bluetooth(build in) on pc?? Because i ask the shopee seller in malaysia and all of them said it won't work with pc blutooth
@@nightmoon1017 it will, there's a newer software than the one I suggested that works much better. It's called bthps3 and doesn't even require you to use a USB adapter if you already have Bluetooth built into your pc. I recommend that you buy a fake ps4 controller instead though. I upgraded to one and it's so much easier with less bugs.
@@fiftyfuckingfeet ohh ok, actually i was considered to purchase a fake ps4 controller too but i heard the battery life sucks compare to the ps3 one. How long does the battery will last for playing game using Bluetooth by the fake ps4 controller that you purchased?
Mark, You forgot :
- Does it power on the console?
- What about the battery? mAh 's ?
Yes to powering on the console but batteryuy size I don't know. It is lower than the official.
I repair controllers. Today, I found out that one of my black ones was a knock-off and I only realised after I took it apart because the motors were loose and making a noise. It had a different motherboard, battery and analogue modules which is why the analogue sticks feel looser. It fully works, (touchpad, buttons & speaker) and so far seems not bad at all. Original ones have noticeably better build quality inside. I think the only way to tell fakes by comparing the font of the PS button which is slightly thinner on the fake and comparing how the analogues spring back. Maybe some knock-offs are better than others.
I need u to repair mine
@@stevie43dc I haven't opened one up for a long time! Try watching a tear down video- if it is not charging- it might be the charge port which are simple and inexpensive repairs.
@@alakhsaini my analogue stick moves the character
@@stevie43dc Watch a teardown video and unclip the green sensors from the analogue sticks. Remove the 'wipers' clean them with a q-tip and swap them over with each other. Sometimes the carbon build up around the analogue sensors causes them to drift.

From what I've read about the bootleg pads is that they just don't last very long. Many reviews tend to say that one or both analog sticks died within a few months of use. Also, you can get brand new official PS4 controllers for only $42. I think it's worth it for the piece of mind. I'm still using a couple DS4's which I bought in 2016 and use nearly every night.
Ah, I can't say how long this will last. I've been using it a week. So far it's fine.
I bought the same fake brand it’s really different when it comes to smoothness in aim
Great comment. Just the info I needed.
I hope you respond but I used to have a knock off but my brother took it off me because I kept asking why it felt so choppy and sensitive was it the same for that one?
Nope this is a good clone. Works really well. The problem with clones is that there are so many types out there and it is impossible to know which are good and which are awful. This was a lucky find. Sadly they sold out really fast.
@@RetroCore oh okay imma just chance it and get one thanks for responding :)
Would you recommend this,I had a original ds4 it had analog drift very early like 3 months I had to repair it thrice, now the r3 analog is drifting ,I don't have that much and the new original is very expensive, should I buy it,I want to play fps like apex legends and cod warzone without drift.
It's impossible to find the same one I have but if you can get it, sure. Mine has lasted a year so far.
Don’t buy knock off controller if you plan on playing a game that requires quick reaction timing. Fake controller has much longer delay on joystick movements
Apex Legends is near impossible with my current fake controller :(
I honestly was about to search this up and it was in my recommendations.
now that's some quality CZcams thinking.

My guess is these are controllers that were produced during off hours from the same factory as the originals.
Sony, Nintendo pay for certain hours to manufacture controllers. Someone running the factory will run production during hours Sony, Nintendo don’t pay for to make these “knock offs”
They probably skimp on some parts and skimp on quality control too.
Still, for $20 I’d say its worth a flyer if you need another controller, or a color that has been discontinued.
I have the same replica, and it started to freaze after 10 minutes of use light still on and it still connected but it would repeat last movement i did, what can be wrong with it ?
Sounds like maybe a software issue. I've not had any issues myself. I'd say the controller works just as good as the official one with one exception, the battery life.
I got a knock off one and I felt the quick change in quality when I held it. And the packaging was the same. It says there's no micro USB but there is. And the code in the back is accurate with what the guy in the vid said
Does your controller still work
I bought one from eBay and just realized it's a knock off
So is there a link where we can buy these????
I can't help but wonder if this is detected as an authentic Dualshock 4 if you plugged it into the PC. At this time, you can't find authentic Dualshock 4 controllers new in stores anymore but I keep seeing knockoffs.
did you check the touchpad on the knock off to see if it works besides just seeing how it felt? I bought a knock off recently and it turned out the touchpad wasn't even connected.
This video is years old but I can confirm that the knock off was used for over a year. That includes using the touch pad.
@@RetroCore doesn't matter to me how old it is, as long as it wasn't made when dino's roamed the earth XD
I realized mine was fake once you pointed out the micro usb not included. And the fake one the joysticks only last about three months.
Your video helped soon as u said use the cable
I got a knock off one the other week its not called a doubleshock though? It says Dualshock4. I think its chinese made looks the part. Buttons a bit louder than a normal daulshock 4 though the box didn't say jet black on it and there's like a frizzing noise out of the speaker in the controller but i can only hear it when i have my ear up close to the controller. Can someone tell me what that's about? And will the controller last if taken care of?
Does the controller works on the blue screen that ask to use the PS button to connect it? I've a wired controller that I cant use on that screen.. what a pain in the ass..
Yes, it works just fine on that screen.
You can definitely feel a sensitivity difference in the analog sticks on some of these cheaper knockoffs, and that one can really bug me the most, because a good sensitivity in those sticks is really something you'll notice when later using something which isn't as tight. Doesn't take much to notice the difference, and doesn't take much more for it to affect your aiming/etc.
finally found someone to talk about this.
I really don't care about other differences, but if the sensitivity is less, I won't buy it. Thank you
@@hmdchy I feel the same way, nobody actually talks about what matters, fucking morons dont understand sensitivity, they should also keep drawing stick figures with their cheap bamboo tablets...
That’s why I’m saving for an original one
that's as trus as it gets , if we're being honest controllers must have smooth analog sticks becuase it's important for FPS games where aiming is everything if i wnated a controller to play ratchet and clank i could do it with ps1 controller and d-pad
@@elsoudani4028 Fr, I have 2 broken controllers and wanted to buy a knock-off one and I mostly play FPS games and I take them competitively and the difference in the analog stick sensitivity is annoying, I'll pass on the knock-off ones and save for an official one
I have a Berryblue and a Death Stranding PS4 controllers unused and unopened, but since the general quality of these controllers seems to be so bad, I think I'll just use them anyways, at least the Berryblue one. I won't lose anything.
Hi, its been a year now since your review. May i ask how is it now?
Battery Life?
Drift Issues?
Connectivity issue? Does in disconnect while playing?
Is it still working after 1 year?
It's actually been two years. Sadly this pad is no longer around. It died about 10 months after making this video. The battery was fine but drift started to become a big issue on the left stick.
Still, for almost a year of use, I'm happy with that since this was cheap.
@@RetroCore 10 months worth i see. Hmm. Been thinking if i will get it. Around Usd11 in our place . Will only be using for F1 2020. Left pad for steering, L2 brakes, R2 Throttle X for shift up, square for shift down.
Do be aware that there are knock offs of knock offs. It really is a minefield out there when it comes to Chinese fakes. If you are fortunate you should get one of reasonable quality like the one in this video.
I think the PS4 controller feels cheaper to bring the cost down as it has a touch pad (that is barely used from what I can gather) but it's still hard to justify the price, especially as I've seen XB1 controllers for almost half the price of a PS4 controller brand new and I personally feel they are one of the best controllers, period while PS4 is just okay to me.
Does the knock of work when you have to press the "PS" button on the blue connect dualschock 4 screen?
Yes, It works just like a regular pad.
I have the wireless and wired version they work just fine at the moment.
For the money we can't complain, only nothing beats the real deal ;)
Mine did not have the Sony Decals.. ow those Chinees are very NAUGHTY !!!
Hehe, they are indeed very naughty. If I didn't have an original I would have thought the gold one was legit.
Lucky you could have had phony printed on there i seen that on ps1 pad
Haha, classic.
what about the knockoff's vibration? is it as good? I want to use it for my pc
Some are good, some are not. It's impossible to say when it comes to knock offs. The one in this video was very well made but it's no longer available. It wouldn't surprise me if it came from the exact same factory as the original.
Some knock offs looks good but feel and preform terribly while others look bad but actually preform reasonably well. It really is a potluck experience went it comes down to it.
Besides of the battery life, is there other reasons you wouldn't recommend knockoff controllers?
Some say the analogue isn't sensitive enough. I wonder if those people are using the same knock offs? This one is identical. I wouldn't be surprised if the original and knockoff came from the same factory.
Would u recommend the knockoff for long term professional fortnite?
Nope, the battery would die.too soon. Control would be fine though.
May u ask where you bought it. Im trying to find one
From s store called Tom Top. They no longer have this one. It was bought over s year ago.
Where can I get this?
yeah but how long will the joy stick last before it starts drifting thats the important ?
Well, it still works now so how long is that after this video was made? I don't use it every day mind you but it does get used about once a week for an hour or so
the knock off controllers are actually much worse, i bought one and the joysticks became wobbly and shaky after just a week, the sensitivity of the joysticks were horrendous and the battery life is a joke, i would much rather spend £60 on a normal official controller than £20 on a cheap ass worthless piece of plastic.
Quick question i just bought a ps4 controller online. Turns out it is fake. Will it still work fine?
Depends on who made the fake Controller.

HELP! - I’ve recently bought a PS4 DualShock controller off eBay for around £40 and it all looked legit but when it came I noticed it was the same box packaging as the real ones but the box was opened already like not sealed, it also wasn’t the colour I was expecting but I really needed a new controller so I shook it off and decided not to return it and ending up binning the box (bad idea) I then tested it out on my PS4 and it all connected fine and worked fine but instantly the mic quality on this controller made my mic sound robotic and not as good as if I was to plug my mic into my old PS4 controller and idk why. Also on certain games like Fortnite I can instantly notice a bit of controller delay etc but on another games it seems atm to be ok. Is it a fake? And is there anyway to fix this. PLEASE REPLY👍 - NOTE: when I ordered it it showed the postage options to my added or click & collect it from Argos, so I assumed they got the controllers from Argos but idk why it would be faulty if they got it from there. I just don’t know if it’s a fake or how to fix the mic problem as that’s my only main issue. Thanks! Edit: IVE NOW GOT A REFUND ON THE CONTROLLER!
You may have bout a poor quality fake controller. There are many fakes. Some are good and some are really bad. There's o way I know of to fix the issues you have.
Retro Core luckily I managed to get a refund on the controller due to it most likely being a fake as it being from eBay, next time I buy a controller I’ll make sure it’s from a trusted store! Thanks for the help anyway.
Thanks for this. Ive been needing a new controller for a while. And was curious about knock off controllers. Where I live knock off controllers are half the price compared to the official controller. The only difference with the knock offs here is they are missing the PlayStation symbol on the button. Its bullshit how expensive the official ones are. I'm not paying $90-$100.I'll get another official one eventually but as long as the knock off works for like a month or two I dont care haha.
Ah, those knock offs missing the Sony branding are lower in quality than this knock off. Not sure how good or bad those ones are. Try to find the knock off like I have.

Hope to see you soon in Osaka, Japan Mark ;)!
That would be nice but not a chance considering where I live.
Yes. I know you live far :(.
I bought one from music magpie. The right analog stick moves by itself and somehow the L2 trigger seems to make the right analog stick move without actually physically moving it. It was 54GBP as well
I paid more because I expected better quality. Honestly I wouldn't mind paying less soong as the buttons did what they're supposed to do 👀. Almost every retailer is out of stock atm for some weird reason and I get offered some bundle with fifa 21 which I'll never play
i just got mine and the only problem i see is that i can seem to make the audio pass thru via controller audio jack. thats all the issue i got. the rest it works great. Ps i us it on PC and Android only. i dont own a ps4
I own one of these. It's pretty darn good. Much better than all those 3rd Party Controllers.
What about the durability? Will the knock off controller get stick drift before the original one?
The one featured in this video is still working just fine. The battery life isn't that great mind you but at a pinch I can jusg connect it to the console with a micro USB cable.
Thanks for the honest review....now ive got a idea and clear a doubt on a knock off.......
what about the latency on pc?
Do they work on iOS?
I have an original gold one that's fairly new but lately it's been playing up, when I saw this video I had to check. They look identical but serial number was diffrent and the back texture, might get a knock off next time cause og ones still break down quick.
In all honesty the PS4 controllers aren't that well made IMO. They feel cheap too. They should have ditched the touch pad and went with a more rugged build.
@@RetroCore all my controllers are a doing random button presses and I'm not sure if it's the new update or the enigizer battery packs. I'm curious of its the USB cable too because after the updates certain cables that didn't work for pairing and charging work now. The only thing I don't really like a lot on the X1 controller is the DPad... Oddly enough, the 360 DPad is pretty good to me, maybe because I got used to it.
Nonetheless, yes, the X1 controller is a lot better built than the DS4, the only good thing I have for the DS4 is that I can connect it to my Vita lol
If only the X1 Pad have a better DPad to me, I will be pretty much in love, because also the fact it got removable bateries means no leaking and good replacement path
Nothing more to say, good video! So the repro is not bad, because the problem I have with the price of those controllers is absurd, more considering the fragile they feel...
If there was a really bad point about the repro it would be the battery life. I mean the official DS4 has a crappy battery but the knock off is worse. It lasts about 3/4 of the official model.
What's the battery life difference between the two?
When you can play 1h, you are lucky
I’m going to have to check if I got a knock off or the real things. Bought 2 used ones it the last couple weeks and one feels slightly off.
See if the serial number is the same as mine. Apparently they all have the same label on the bottom.
My serial number on mine doesn't have any letters is this normal I have the gen 2 and am in the U.S and I bought it from walmart
I can't speak for a US controller but a Japanese one will have letters.
do you have gyroscope
Hi, will the fake controller work with iOS devices like iPhone or iPad?
Sure as long as the fake controller you buy is using standard Bluetooth protocols. Be aware that some fakes are truly awful though and there is no real way to check until you start to use them.
My controller broker Just yesterday idk what to buy i dont have so much on my pocket
Every controller review/comparison video should be as good as this. Thank you sir !
Thank you for watching, SteveKronn.
How long do they last?
Depends on who made the knock off and how rough you use the controller. This one in this video has finally died but it did last over a year with at least 3 to 5 hours a week of use. After that the battery and analogue sticks started to go.
I'm worried....I have a controller that looks exactly like that gold one I played 98 dollars and it was fine until I put it down for 2 months. And it won't charge I tried everything replacing battery usb port resetting safe mode it comes on when charger is plugged it but won't charge
Looks like you got a fake one.
question did it work
How much did you buy the copy PS4 controller.
Sorry, I don't remember. I bought this controller way back in 2019.
It’s fine I just realised you mentioned the price in the vid
the light on the knock off one shines white bc it wasn't paired up, the original one does that too
Ah, I see. Never noticed that before.
Do the knockoff PlayStation 4 controllers get stick drift after a little bit? Of course I would expect it to have stick drift after a while but every single one of my Xbox controllers have MASSIVE stick drift and I play on pc so it doesn’t matter which one I use and for 20 bucks even if it’s not top quality I’ll take it
I guess many do. This one hasn't suffered from that yet but the sticks have become a bit loose. To be expected I guess.
You should have connected both controllers to a computer. Using the built-in Bluetooth. I think if I would have cut Corners anywhere and make a fake, that would be it.
I've been using a cheap xbox knockoff for 1 and a half year and B and A button are jammed but surprisingly it's still very playable lol. Though what i'm surprised the most is its cable quality, usually when i buy a 10$ controller it usually lasts about 3-4 months before it starts disconnecting very often
So they last for 3 to 4 months only?
@@defalco2945 now i've changed my views on this. It depends on how you handle the cable. If you just let it plugged in to your computer 24/7 and not coil the cable, chance are it's gonna last very long. Every controller i owned back in the day only last for a few months, now i know the real culprit is, cable coiling. Most knock off controller probably don't have a very good cable quality so just don't coil them and try not to accidentally tug the cable cuz it will also damage the cable connector.
@@Loxly-ti4sq So if I use a phone's cable and jt get coiled is it a problem? And Yes I will plug it in the PC all the time while playing
@@Loxly-ti4sq But I will remove it after playing is this okay or not?
@@defalco2945 phone cable? you mean like ps4 usb cable? then it's not really a problem for you, you can just swap the cable with the new one if it's broken and whatnot. I'm talking about the older type of wired controllers, so the cable is directly soldered to the machine.
Where did u get the know off one from
Sorry, these are no longer available. I bought it from a store called tomtop
They are all over ebay
I’ve noticed that my Knock Off controller has a much longer delay on the Joysticks than the real one. When I want to move or turn camera using the joy sticks, it takes so long that it makes me play worse
That's a bummer. The problem with knock offs is that they're not all equal.
Be honest, last week I bought one from shoppe, u know I got one from official store last year, after compare about the two controller, I think there's just some physical experience gap, not to much , just a little, but the price between em .... I think it was worth buying. lol
The dualshock 4's dpad inst awful, its actually pretty good, its even the preferred controller of some of the best fighting games pro's (where a good dpad is literally the most important aspect of the controller)
Can't say I agree with that at all. IMO ALL PlayStation controller D-Pads are not that good. The new 8BitDo Mega Drive pads are far better in my opinion. But that's just it, an opinion. People brought up in the PlayStation age will always think that the PS pad is best while others swear that the SFC / SNES D-Pad is best. Personally I think the Japanese Saturn D-Pad is the best.
Retro Core I lived through the Intellivision control disc, so I was fine with both the SNES and Playstation pads, and Sega's pads were alright too. But the best D-pad is obviously the one from the Neo Geo Pocket Color. (Possibly the original Neo Geo Pocket too, but Ive never handled one myself)
LOL. Try a Xbox one pad and tell me again it’s ‘pretty good’. It’s crap! And this is coming from a PS fan! The Xbox one controller is so much better.
@@cromulence Opinions mate. I've been using d-pads since the NES and I still think Playstation d-pads are the best, especially for fighting games. Xbone d-pad is good enough for switching items/weapons or maybe some 2d games, but can't handle fast and precise inputs that well.
Use a hori controller on your ps4 then get back at me... lol
But seriously, the hori fighting commander is the best pad for fighting games ever made unless you prefer stick.
How did it perform in actual gameplay though???
Perfectly fine. I used it for a week playing a variety of games from Ninja Warriors Again to Fist of the North Star.
I have the same gold one and just found out it was fake, thank you!
You're welcome.
Thanks for the vid just bought a knockoff for 12$ it would come in a few days
what is the controller called?
PS4 controller. It has no special name so it's really hard to find this particular model.
Do the fakes get drift on the L3 and R3 buttons like the originals !!
Not that I've noticed but saying that, my official controller doesn't have any drift either.
Man they work pretty good for being fake
I got scammed with a fake one yesterday I had my suspicion so I opened it up & sure enough it had different build & the battery was smaller.
Been playing call of duty with it & I'm surprised at how good it works the official ones still feel better tho but for the price I would still recommend a fake one if you can't afford an official one.
Some of the fake ones can be quite good like the one in this video but there are some really poor ones out there.
@@RetroCore Crazy, I bought two of them together the fake one is copper & the authentic one is a black 2gn gen & the one I'm having issues with is the authentic one the left joystick drifts upwards while I haven't had any issue with the fake one.
I really want to buy a knock off that looks so similar
I have the same controller. It disconnects every time I pull out the charging cable. Can someone help please? I thought this thing was wireless?
Sounds like your one has a dead battery.
U prob have usb cable communication method
I have a knock off PS4 controller I got for like 20 dollars at an outdoor flea market and it gets the job done. I can’t complain with it.
Can I ask you how much did it last
