Looks like your hair is starting to grow in nicely, Doc
Does he have alopecia? I have not heard him talk about it.
@@LisaNix2alopecia areata. He spoke about it in earlier videos.
@@LisaNix2 yes he does and he has discussed it in the past
Is he doing something to get it back?
He has alopecia totalis or universialis. Dont remember which one. And yes he is doing something but I dont think he has said what it is.
So glad to see your hair coming back, even though you look good without it as well.
Doc is cute

I'm a 24 year old male with a skincare routine- just OTC Retinol and sunscreen for now. Everybody at work thinks I'm crazy when I apply sunscreen before we leave the building. I figure this is the only body I'm gonna get- may as well take good care of it! Thanks for all the information Doc.
These are the people who will ask you what's your secret to look 24 when you're 34 :)
@@MelissaNunesCNPIthey‘ll say it’s genes😂
Most men don’t care about their skin and end up with dried-out, haggard-looking skin when they’re older.
Way to go 👍
Good for you for starting so young! You'll never regret. it.
Your videos are like a treasure trove of knowledge, Your ability to explain complex medical concepts in such a clear and engaging way is truly remarkable. Keep up the fantastic work Dr. Gary Linkov!
I feel an earring would look great
This is such a clear explanation. Excellent. Btw 2-3 weeks after I started using a retinol-containing moisturiser, a work colleague out of the blue asked me if I’d changed my skin care products (not something we had ever discussed before) as my skin looked “amazing”. 😊

Congrats on your “hirsute” looks, Doc. It’s been heart warming to follow your recovery - I know one doesn’t ever recover from a immune condition but you clearly have proven that it can be managed and improved. 👏🏻👍🏼
I've been using tretinoin (generic retin a) for 22 years. I'm 46 and have ZERO wrinkles, I still get carded, and when people see my bday on my ID their jaws drop and they say "no wayyy". *I also stay out of the sun & use sunscreen if I must go in the sun* Believe the doc, people.
OMG I WISH I knew about this product 😢I have been using for 8 months and results are already amazing. I am 43 ....hope it will make even better.
What is the tretinoin? could you tell more?
Great seeing you recovering!
Thank you for presenting real and affordable options!
Loving the hair Doctor G!
All hail Prince Gary! 👑 🙌🏼
To say cosmetic companies mislead consumers is an understatement…❤
This was incredibly useful - thank you!
This was incredibly informative. Thank you!
Right at time doc. Man ,this was very helpful . You can’t imagine how confusing this retinol stuff has been till now. Thank you my dear.
I always learn so much from your videos. Thanks Doc!
Just subscribed to you 2 days back, your content is great really knowledgeable and entertaining.
So here's a Thank you from a fan
I'm crowding 70, and my skin needs all the help it can get! I go for the Retin A at 0.5 strength. It was very irritating to begin with, so I "sandwich it" between a soothing moisturising ceramide serum (Cerave Hyaluronic Acid Serum for Face with Vitamin B5 and Ceramides) then my non-irritating peptides (low concentration Niacinamide, Matryxil and Argiriline and a couple of other ones in an Inkey List serum) then a tiny pea of Retin A, then I top it off with a few drops of Jojoba oil (jojoba oil is the closest plant analog to human sebum). It's a tad greasy at first, but I'm a back sleeper, and by morning my skin is as smooth as a baby's butt One day a week I give my skin a break and only cleanse and put on the jojoba oil. One other day in the week, I use a mild enzymatic + lactic acid moisturising exfoliating mask. And I apply Korean sunscreen as though it were a religious duty. (I'm allergic to Avobenzone and not happy with the cosmetic properties of mineral-only sunscreens, so Korea for the win.) It's basically the same routine in the morning, but I substitute Dr. Brenner's Vitamin C, E & Ferrulic acid serum for the retinol and use Estrogen Estriol Cream (84 Servings, 3.5oz Pump) 175mg of USP Micronized Estriol as my moisturiser underneath my sunscreen. I also take Heliocare, skin ceramides, collagen powder, and hyaluronic acid supplements. I know people think this is overkill, but I'm between Fitzgerald Type I and II, so.... I also use a red light mask, the Nira Pro at home laser, and my long-time favorite, the NuFace micro current device. Most people guess that I'm in my mid fifties (I'm sure some of that is diplomacy) but a lot of it is that I do NOT look 70!
What is the name of the lactic acid exfoliating mask?
@@myvideochannel6404 Lineage Cica Sleeping Mask. I looked it up long, long ago but as I recall it has lactic acid as well as some enzymes. It's tingly when first applied but settles down quickly and I love the way my skin feels in the morning. It's a bit extravagant, but I only use it 1x per week. Thanks for asking and congrats on the peach fuzz and eyebrows!
Wow.....Sounds as if you spend a lot of time at the mirror....and spend a lot of $$$. However, good for you. Since I started out in the 1970s with Retin A when it was first developed, ( ugh - greasy packets and red face fir Cystic Acne...helped....Then to Accutane for 3 months...excellent results...skin perfection for a couple decades....then unfortunately past 6 years slight Rosacea managed well by Metronidazole topical gel off and on. However, Tretinoin has been my friend thru the years...And as far as it goes with my skin, I look about 15 to 20 years younger than my real age. Sunscreen is the ticket....Always....I am a big advocate for Retin A.
You are such a breath of fresh air! I so appreciate you and the information you pass on to us. Thank You!
Glad to see you growing your hair back 😎
I haven't seen a video in a bit and audibly said, wow, the hair! Congrats!
Very happy for you and your family. Enjoyed your videos for many months now. Best of luck.
Super informative! Thanks!
thank you Dr. Linkov for sharing your education and knowledge with us!!
Thank you so much for such a detailed & informative video! As already said, although you look amazing with the hair loss, that's great looking restoration! Incredible work. Love You, Dr Gary!!
Thank you Dr. Linkov!!! As a medical Aesthetician ....I needed a refresher on this!!!! You are awesome!!!
Thought I knew all there is to know bout retinols but this video taught me so much! Beautifuly done!
This is the best explanation on this subject that I have ever seen!
Thank you doc for all of your videos. Learning a lot. 😊
The scalp stubble is a good look, doc!
I use retinol daily but I once was prescribed retinoic acid to get rid of a really bad melasma patch on my forehead after being in Israel for work. It was very harsh and irritating, but the blotch disappeared like magic
Your hair looks good! I am happy for you
I just started my retinol journey this week. I have sensitive skin so I’m definitely mixing it into my moisturizer! Thank you for the understandable explanation. Good to know that my next step would be retinoic acid/tretinoin. I’ve been seeing a lot of videos on tretinoin so it’s good to know that’s the active hormone.
This is helpful information, Retin A does really work for rosacea too. A recent study found that layering Retin A with calendula oil increases subdermal absorption. Thanks Gary, looking good!
Thank you for your thorough videos backed with science.
I live all of your videos ❣️
Great informative information with nice slides 👍.
Doctor's eyebrowns look perfect now. Well done.
A great informative video with such a soothing voice. With so many random influencers telling people to buy stuff, I love hearing from a licensed doctor about the skin!
I have just been prescribed topic tretinoin on top of azelaic acid for rosacea with papule/bumps, but for some reason I chicken out about it for its aggressiveness and the fear that it affects fertility😅
I have been looking at products with Retinol the past few days, thinking that it can help my skin healthier, but I didn't have a good understanding until this video. Thank you for filling in the blanks.😊
Love your channel Dr. Gary! Can you please do a video on what your skincare / diet / lifestyle regimen is that keeps you looking so young? Also, for high end brands (in each category about to be listed) whether Dr based, dermatologist, drugstore, department/designer, what are the best in each category for people who want something simple (eg, not doing sunscreen separate to moisturisers). Keep up the great work and let us know the secrets to your flawless skin! ❤
You look great! Whatever you are doing is making a difference.
woa i havnt watched your video for some time and suddenly i'm seeing growth in your hair follicles. you look amazing doctor!

Amazing explained video! Thank you so much!
I appreciate your advice… you have helped me! I enjoy your channel.

Thanks for sharing all this great info.
Thank you so much for explaining why retinoids are so great for anti aging. I've been using them for a while but didn't know the science behind it. Your explanation is so clear. ❤❤
You have always been the best looking doc on CZcams 🔥 sorry that sounds a bit frivolous 😅 you make very interesting and informative content too. Thank you!
Great teaching Doc. Am a RN and am prepping my skin right now with a retinol and soon will start on an Rx 0.025%. Going low and slow for best results.
What a fabulous educational video! Fibroblasts are beautiful cells. I alternate between a 1.0 retinol skinceutical and Differin… depending on what my skin can tolerate and the seasons. I respect your journey and look forward to your products. 😊
I’m commenting for the algorithm.. Thank you for your work Doc 🙏
You look great Gary its unbelievable how much our eyebrows shape our face
I'm glad you included sunscreen I was waiting; I only use the products in the winter by my own admission I have trepidation regarding damage that could accrue even with high sunscreen.
Catch 22.
These are be best videos, especially for science geeks. I think your channel's about to blow up. :) In terms of skin care, can you talk about treatments for capillary damage? I've had ACTH Dependent Cushing's twice. You'd never look at me and know because I was able to get pretty fit after my most recent surgery, but the first time the acne and flushing from the disease left me with capillary damage that I haven't been able to repair naturally. I'd love a solution!!
Thanks for making this video!!!
Congrats on hair regrowth 👍👍👍
Uuh finally a clear explanation! Going to ask for some retinoic acid to my dermatologist ❤
Great info. Just started the prescription again. Please do a video on how, and what you are using to get hair growth back. 👌👍
great video and explanation - appreciate the inclusion of the science, it can be difficult to view many disparate sources and come away with a cohesive view - thanks for sharing!
Wonderful breakdown and explanation of retinoids and mechanism of action! I use 0.05% retinoic acid + vaseline on my neck; it resulted in less irritation when compared to cerave (my personal experience).
I'm noticing a trend of CZcams surgeons giving great skincare advice and I'm all for it
Looking good Doc!
Thank you so much for this video Dr Gary! I’ve watched a lot of content on tretinoin and yours is the most clear comprehensive I’ve come across. Really appreciate the scientific explanation of how tretinoin works, usage instructions and the pros and cons!
Tretinoin is not a hormone.
Thank you very much doc. I was just looking for the perfect skincare routine and this helps ❤i wish you full recovery on your alopecia areata 😊
Looking good Dr. Linkov.✌🏽😎🇬🇺
I just started using retinol last week after getting super hecking frustrated with salicilic acid and benzoyl peroxide, I was getting rid of a lot of the acne, but my skin takes ages to heal, but I can already see so much redness and rawness going down, its wild. Im so excited to see how much it changes in a few weeks
There is nothing I enjoy more than this
Really clear exposition time to shop
Thank you for explaining 🙏🙂
ur hair is growing back!! 🫶🫶
Absolutely works. Remember the sandwich method: moisterize, retinol (small amount) then top of with moisterizer.
I've been taking retinoids for a year to control my oil glands activity. I was concerned with the overall effect on my my skin, so I'm very excited to watch this video
Differin works so much better than retinol, I can see the difference. Very informative video, thank you Doc!
You are looking so healthy! Your hair is coming back! Not sure if you’ve talked about it and I missed it or not but I would love to hear about it! So happy for you!
Filmed the video about it today! Stay tuned. Will be released next week most likely.
Great information
Thank you for options!
I've been using retinol oil and sunscreen since I was ~20. I think it's kept my skin really nice!
Thank you Dr,i watching from South Africa, very well explained,
Bro!! Your hair is growing back.😮that's awesome what are you using
I’m using medik8 crystal retinal and am so happy with it because the retinols I used before irritated my skin so much.
Dr. Gary, it looks like your getting a bit of hair growth! Happy for you. 🩷
Thanks for sharing Doctor
My teenage daughter was using one of the retinols for her acne. One day she called from school and said she didn’t feel good. I went to pick her up and saw her face beet red and so swollen. She told me she was sitting outside on the bleachers, mind you this was in Sunny hot Florida!
I gave her benydral and packed her face on ice, called her dermatologist and that was all that could be done.
When your doctor says, USE SUNBLOCK and stay out of the sun, heed their advise.
Dr. Linkov, love all your videos especially ones like this. Some people think that just because you are a plastic surgeon, you don’t educate on face creams and other medications. Thank you again for your knowledge 👍 BTW, hair is coming out great☺️
I've been using Retinol for over 6 months, and my skin looks so good. I swear by it.
Only retinol ? whats % of it ? How much do you use it do you also use sun protection ?
Any tips?
@@kebab6651Retinol 100÷ dosent exist. If you want some efficientbyou can use tretinol but you need a prescription. Retinol is good option for evrybody because is not dangerous and dont iritate skin like tretinol. And i think all retinol products have same procent of retinol in product
What an incredible video. I've been using retinol and thought I was crazy by how much it works. Fine lines around the mouth almost disappered! Thanks for all the info. :)
Where do you purchase retinol?
@@Diana-zb6wg Im from South Africa...I buy L'oreal retinol at DisChem, and Clicks...Just go to pharma and ask around. Hope this will help.
Around age 17, I started using a tinted moisturizer that contained spf and retinol. At the time, I didn’t know much about skincare in ingredients and just used it because it looked natural. Fast forward to age 25, I started using 0.1% tretinoin that my friend gave me. It took a year for my skin to acclimate to it but now at age almost 28, my skin is looking better than ever! I also use SPF religiously now. I still get the odd breakout but it’s nothing compared to what my skin was like before. During my early 20s I struggled with acne so much I tried EVERYTHING. I’m so glad I stuck with tretinoin.
How tf are you using 0.1, respect. I could only do 0.025 every other day even after 6 months of starting tretinoin. If I go every night, I will peel like a snake and I don't want that lol
Just use Retin A. The gold standard. Been using it since I was 16 for acne. Later for anti-aging. It’s the only thing that really works the rest is marketing. Perhaps vitamin C helps too but yet to find a product containing it that provides anything remotely as effective as Retin A.
Exactly
I have zero wrinkles at fifty, and have had allergies to retinol in the past for severe acne. I am convinced all those oil glands have helped me have no wrinkles but im still getting breakouts before my period. I started using The Ordinary's new granulated retinoid with a product of theirs called The Barrier which locks in moisture and it absolutely is a game changer for lockinf in moisture and not letting my skin dry out which i had been trying to do for years. Looking forward to seeing the end results from long term use of retinol.
I love you doctor Gary 🥰
wow, your hair progress is insane
The info in this video was very good. I'm wondering whether you have any info that you could share regarding tretinoin and hair growth?
I just picked up my first tube of prescription tretinoin- this video is so helpful!
Me too🙌💜
Thanks lots Doctor ❤
Great video
Thank you for the information
Great vid. Your hair is coming back, we need a vid on your treatment that’s clearly working.
Will record one this Monday.
I was an acne patient from age 11 to 20. When I was 16/17 the doctor described benzoyl peroxide (15% FNA) and AcidAvit (Acid vitamines A and D). My skin looked awesome. Somehow AcidAviD was taken of the market. I don't know why, I only know it was incredible!
In Germany even the Differin Gel equivalent is prescription only. To give it to you, the dermatologist has to diagnose you with acne, which in turn makes you a more "risky" patient to the insurance company which charge you an extra fee for years to come.... 😢
In Germany everything good is forbidden, paying higher and higher taxes is allowed. I bring everything I need from Poland.

And they're limiting retinol products to only 0.3%
There are some subscription services available now, which offer products with Retin-A and ship to Germany as well. Prices are reasonable too. You need to upload pictures and a dermatologist will look at them and create a product tailored to your needs.

Dr Linkov, I understand all these terms as I grew up visiting dermtologists for acne. I use tretinoine every two days for almost 30 years. I
