    Thank you for positing this video. I am a SPD Tech doing my first clinical and this is one of the primary jobs that I am responsible for during the day. I liked seeing the similarirties and differences between your spd storage rooms, preference cards, and how you pick a case. I honestly did not know what "hold" meant, and was only told nurses have that in their storage (we have been gettting a lot of extra supplies back from our ORs and the preference cards havent been customized to the degree needed to prevent that). Again, your videos have been a tremendous help throughout my sterile processing program, and to understand the overall process and the needs of the people in the OR, and for the patients.

      Same where I work, I’m CRCST in SPD. Where I work we do a lot of Ortho, total hips & knees. We have Multiple carts for each case, 1 with the disposeable items and general sets ie major bone , and power . Then 2 nd cart with vendor trays.

    • @loui30
      @loui30 Před rokem

      @@deannalynn858 What we do for loaners is similar. If we have a lot of loaners for 1 case, we put them in a case cart with a label containing the room number, time of surgery, Dr., last 4 digits of the MRN and quantity of loaners. That's how the scrub techs or nurses find the loaners they need.

    Wondering if you have any other responsibilities while picking cases? Where I work we also transport patients from the floor to Pre op, so while pulling cases you get a phone call and have to stop working on cases and spend 20 to 30 min getting a cart and going to the floor finding the tech or RN to help transfer the patient wait for the elevator etc…then go back to pulling your case till the next call. The worst is emergency add on cases when they want the cases pulled and the patient at the same time.
