A freezer helps immensely with food waste. Fruit on the turn can be frozen for smoothies, veggies can be chopped & frozen to cook with later, baked goods can be frozen, even milk.
So pleased you have found someone who is so good at supporting you, meeting you where you are and no doubt showing you you are worthy of love JUST AS YOU ARE. Please know that there is no shame with struggling, no embarrassment to be felt for feeling overwhelmed, and that you are helping to normalise all of that for so many of us. So thank you. Wash, Cut and prep fruits and veggies in small containers before putting them away they are less likely to go to waste if they are easy to grab and use. Plan your meals/ ingredients before shopping for the week and sort out fridge every week. write best by date on the packages or containers in sharpie so its easy to sort what’s good

The best way to prevent food waste is to do a meal plan for the week and then shop for only the ingredients you need.

You both deserve a medal. When you have limited space in kitchen cupboards buy some extendable wire shelves and it doubles the space without having to pile things on top of each other. Ideal for tins, bowls etc. They cost about £4 but transform your life!
When you have anxiety getting stuff done like tidying that you know needs doing can be so hard so well done, you both deserve a medal 🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅

Thank you Lauren for the welcoming message...I have been battling bowel cancer for a year and it has now spread to my lungs..just having the distraction of spending time with you makes a surprising difference. Gold medal for the lovely Emma and maybe a runners up certificate for you for turning up? Lol lol just pulling your leg..the studio looks wonderful..I live on my own too and it takes a lot of getting used to, always have to remind myself that if I don't do something, there's no one else to do it for me, I know I'll have to eventually get help, but I'm stubborn and whilst I can cope, I'm determined to try. Totally different vibe...lol..look at getting an airfryer, mines a gods send..'boils' eggs perfectly, yummy chips, bacon etc with no added fat..highly recommend, got mine from was a for £55..bargain. 😊👍

Hi Lauren, I live alone. I shop once a week and mentally prepare different meals I can make through the week. The days I WFH I cook extra so the days I go into the office I come home and have leftovers. I also display my fruit veggies in a basket on the top shelf so they’re the first thing I see. Im slowly getting better at food waste. (1 week is big heavy shop I have delivered that includes everything, 2 week I buy small amount like veggies I’ve run out of etc that I can pick up after work).

Emma deserves a medal It’s feel great when you can keep it tidy. Also love going to B&M late at night as it doesn’t close till 10 pm .
While you were asking for how not to waste food advice I was taking out veggies from the oven, which is my way of loose meal prep. Veggies, a source of protein and carb, that’s how I build my daily meals. For example : roasted veggies, patty, bread or rice. Omelette, veggies, pitta bread. I write it down on Sunday based on what I have in the fridge and I buy only things I need. Hope that helps…

As a single lady it's bloody hard regarding food , food prep and storage. But what I've found easier is to have a week with two key proteins - Chicken or salmon.... Then cook them off on a Sunday ( store them in a tub )and then use them as my starting point and either add a carb and vegetables for lunches and dinners then Friday I'll treat myself to an m&s ready meal and then choose a different protein for the following weeks menu planner .... It's a pain when you don't have a lot of kitchen space - I have two shelves in the fridge and share a kitchen with three other adults.
You'll find what works for you xx
Or could you meal prep at your mum's when you're working there?

Hey Lauren, the past few weeks have been tough and I’m about 4 weeks behind on your vlogs, but catching up. You really hit the jackpot with Emma. We all need someone who loves to organize and tidy in our lives 😊 🥇🏅🏆👏🏽💐 I seriously let out and audible gasp when you showed us the studio lol. It looks like when you first moved in. My own apartment can get pretty messy sometimes and it just creates so much mental noise and stress, so I am sure having that done has been a huge relief. 💜

I feel your pain on the cooking vs. takeout situation, Lauren! Something that works well for me is stocking up on a lot of frozen meals. I know it's probably not the healthiest, but it's cheaper and easier than eating out throughout the week. I'm a single lady who works full-time too, so after a long day of working, errands, cleaning, taking care of pets, etc., the absolute LAST thing I want to do is cook. I save more in-depth cooking for weekends (if I feel like it lol). It works well for me so I'd recommend lol ❤
I keep my toaster on a little tray in the cupboard, it just helps with stray crumbs & easy to get in & out xx 😊

🏅🎖️For both of you. I live on my own gorgeous Lauren and I had the same struggle with fridge and wasted food. So I shop twice a week now, and plan my dinners three days in advance and only buy what I need for those dinners. Game changer!!! ❤

Hi Lauren, I get the stuggles with food. I'm in a slump. I've been doing my MA online, since 2022, which means I'm home/indoors in front of a screen most of the day. It's been great for keeping my brain active, but not good for my motivation. It hurts sometimes to stand up and make a meal because I"m not moving enough so my muscles aren't a strong as they used to be. I waste so much food, buying with good intentions and often not feeling like cooking or feel like eating what I've purchased. My husband works outside of the house - I make sure he has regular and nutritious meals, but I don't do it for myself, I don't eat much during the day, and I hate routine so sticking to a meal plan doesn't work for me. I love grocery shopping, but it's so tempting to buy fresh food that I never eat or only eat a small amount of. I have subscribed to meal kits, but they're expensive and I don't always feel like eating/cooking what I've ordered. BUT I have found that ordering groceries online helps a lot, I'm not nearly as tempted to overbuy food and it helps me to avoid the manipulative marketing ploys. I have also found that canned/bottled food is a good solution, they have a much longer shelf life. For my veggies, I have vegetable cocktails like V8 and for my fruits I have Bolthouse fruit/berry drinks - not sure if you have them in the UK (I'm in Canada), but they're all pure juices with no additives. Premade soups are also my go to, so with those solutions I have a lot less waste and always have something nutritious on hand. This may not be a solution for you, but I hope you find something that works for you.
I have noticed that the quality of my life and how I feel changes depending on where I live, where there is more greenspace, I always feel far better in mind and body. Is it plausible for you to move to a place that makes you feel better?

I have just had the week from h377. My father in law had a stroke and I had to buy hubby a return ticket to Australia to go see his dad. Life without him here has been a tad lonely and he won’t be home for another week. I put a live purple die through my hair and first wash some of my hair went blue… like WTF so I had to bleach bath it yesterday. My daughter today said I look like a fab ice lolly, all I need is some coloured diamond drills (I do diamond painting as a hobby) to finish of the look. Pmsl Emma deserves a medal and you do also
