“Good Andy. Bad Pizza”
There. Now you’ve got the most obvious joke for this campaign.
But there pizza is the best in america, right?
@@Glitch-Gremlin No some of the worst
@@Glitch-Gremlin
It's one of the better nationwide chains, but you're almost always better off going to a local or regional pizza place instead.

@@knightmare39 Being from Long Island, NY I feel this.
At least the Noid was a Wile E Coyote clone that had a motivation and somewhat of a charm in the 80’s. Bad Andy on the other hand takes away any of the Noid’s redeeming qualities and makes it worse.
I think bad Andy's character design looks very cute lol. I don't know why
I hear you, brother; the Noid before and the Pizzahead show after were *_far_* better. I esp. liked Pizzahead because it was an adaptation of Mr. Bill. Oh Noooooooooooo!...
HAIIII LUMITY FANN
@@essayharper I didn't expect you to be here. What's up?
@@pennysanchez7656 Nothing much, Working on a big video project.
When Pizza Hut using an actual slice of pizza to advertise their stuff works better than a puppet made by one of the most famous puppet studios on the planet....
I know; Pizzahead is so much better as a Domino's mascot.
@@edgardeitz5746 "HEY! He's not a mascot!"
"SURE HE IS!"
These commercials feel like when you remove the laugh track from a bad sitcom.
Someone should tweak this INTO a sitcom that _works._ Something like "Alf" or "Scorch", or even like 'Roland Rat" or "'Round the Bend". I see some possibilities; all they need is the hero character, and they're set...
agreed
I never bought into the “comedy is based on misery” thing. It’s based on expectations. Plenty of comedy doesn’t involve any misery at all.
Comedy is based on being funny. Knowing a joke doesn't take away from it. Also you can make misery into comedy but it's not based on it.
My thoughts exactly. I *HATE* when people say that. It gives off the unfortunate implication that miserable situations shouldn't be taken seriously, which is a horrible thing to imply. It also kind of makes whoever said it look like a sadist when you think about it.
In other words, the Nostalgia Critic is a sociopath. Already with ya on that one...!
@@blackheartzerotheundergrou3225 I mean, there was a mass exodus of content creators who left Channel Awesome and accused Doug, Rob, and Mike Michaud of some pretty serious allegations.
Back when Domino’s needed a noid replacement.
Why are you in every comment section?
I see you in every videogame channel I watch.
Domino's doesn't need the noid because their pizza is already disgusting and unappetizing (I am Italian)
@@blackstar044 I like how no-one pointed out that I am in every almost single comment section.
@@Spongyboi897 Same here and people used to point me out as being another guy commenting everywhere
What doesn't sell it for me is the puppet itself, which is kind of sad considering it is a Creature Shop creation, but to me it looks kind of like a generic carnival prize. I wonder if it got reused for anything, I can just imagine Andy as a background character in Happytime Murders.
Since it was just a mascot for a fucking domino's commercial, the creature shop probably didn't want to bring their A game.
So what you're telling me is Andy was literally so bad at his job that it transcended the meta of the commercials and manifested as actually harmful to the business itself?
Damn. Andy really IS bad.
Honestly, Domino’s should’ve just had Mr. Bean be the spokesman for the company during this time.
I don't even eat Domino's pizza. But if they did have Mr. Bean be a spokesperson for their adverts, they would be hilarious to watch. And I'm saying that as someone who's been a fan of Mr. Bean since 1999.
now do the arbys oven mitt next, as a kid i used to be scared of that mascot
I liked the oven mitt. Of course I like junk so take that as it may.
Wait Arbys had an oven mitt mascot? I have a brief memory of it and I thought it was a hamburger helper commercial when I was a kid. Man this explains a strange memory in my mind.
bad andy sounds like a made up version of Jerma created by chat where he's a devious robber who steals candy from babies and litters all over the place
Andy turning his head around to look at the monster trucks is nightmare fuel. He looks terrifying
Comedy derived from misery is the most nostalgic thing that nerd knows.
Dominos charges 7 dollars for delivery, even tho I'm 1 minute away and can basically smell the store on a breezy day. Now that's comedy.
Charges for delivery since you can't hoof it to their store.
If its a minute away, I say you deserve to pay 7 bucks to have them drive to you.
@@WerewolfEmerson I agree lol
Perhaps OP has mobility problems or other issues that make it difficult or even impossible to go pick up even if the store is only a minute away. Don't be so quick to judge when you don't know anything about the person.
Domino's seems to have a thing for mascots with mixed messaging.
“Have you heard of Hatsune Miku?”
Did Andy fight Crash Bandicoot? No he didn’t, he is already terrible. Noid stay winning
I wonder where the Andy puppet ended up after this. But really. This campaign had SO much potential. I love puppetry, and I love Jim Henson workshop projects.. but they didn't do much at all with him. His design could use some work but like you said that's the least of the problems, but his entire schtick needs so much work too. If they really tried with him, he could still be around to this day. But they just dropped the ball.
I'd love to see a revival and upgrade to this ad campaign if I'm honest. It could be SO great in the right hands! Though admittedly I'd PAY to see the return of the NOID. It was slightly before my time, but it would be amazing to see again (tho if you see the newest boxes from Dominos from the Stranger Things advertisting, the NOID was mentioned on the boxes right on the side. Small, but I spotted it and it made me smile!)
Honestly, Bad Andy looks really cute for some reason, lol
I think it got set on fire
I'd 100% pay for Bad Andy to make a comeback somehow, 'cause it's adorable.
I agree the idea had potential but it wasn't executed properly and poor Andy just didn't quite hit the mark and he ended up being forgettable
Thanks for the comment shout-out guys! It really made my day. Also, what a coincidence that the two restaurant mascot videos that you guys did just so happened to be on the two restaurants that my family are regulars at.
7:35-7:58
And here I thought Rax's Mr. Delicious was the most hated mascot...either him or Happy from McDonalds.
The same firm that did the Bad Andy campaign did the Mr. Delicious campaign. Srsly, Deutsche is a firm where companies go if they want crass ad campaigns
As someone that loves Domino's Pizzas (yes, I like their pizzas, fight me), I actually never heard of a second Domino's mascot, I just only knew about The Noid because of Electricdragon505 / AniMat's Animation Lookback: The Best of Stop Motion on where he gave a segment to Will Vinton's Stop Motion (may he rest in peace)
And honestly, the way they made Bad Andy does feel more like meh, just another forgettable mascot that just came and went and tried to be funny, which of course, it didn't
It was an interesting look to another food mascot, like last time with Jack Box, good luck with any future video
You are not the only one who likes Domino's Pizzas. I mean, the buttered crust with garlic powder makes them delicious.
I love it as well lol
They are bringing the Noid back kinda of its on their ST boxes I love them cause my dominos has better costumer service than my local pizza hut that age discriminated against me just assuming I was under age cause of my baby face and the store nor corporate did anything that's basically the long and short of that story
@@elizabethsmith3374 also that one time they made the noid a boss in crash bandicoot run
Avoid the noid! Is it sad I'd prefer Quiznos ' subs weird rat thing?
Its more striking and memorable so makes sense

We love da suuubs!
i used to have frequent nightmares about bad andy as a child. one i very specifically remember was him living under my bed out at my grandparent's home in northern montana. an instance in the dream where my grandad lifted the bed sheet up to look under it and andy came darting out from under and leaped onto my neck. i remember his eyes looking very visibly angry. odd as he doesn't ever emote.
so i'd like to add 'oddly terrifying' to your bullet points.
Bad Andy looks like a rejected Pokémon.
Ngl these commercials are the worst, but Andy is the cutest??? I love his design. I want to make him out of fuzzy brown yarn
I agree. His design is the only redeeming factor
I forgot for years that thing existed until now, really I just kept thinking it was only the Noid. Must had memory block it without even trying.
I worked at Domino's in high school and I had no idea about this. Although one of the delivery drivers was also a tattoo artist and he told us that anyone who got a NOID tattoo he'd do it for free.
I worked at Domino's here in Canada from 1992-2001 and would TOTALLY have gotten a Noid tattoo if offered even though the Noid was pulled right before I started working there. Tonight was the first time that I heard why.
Man, if the Andy puppet was a nice character and had his own Nick Jr. show, 3 year old me would probably love it.
This is just The Noid and Flat Eric’s disgruntled love child
Domino’s pizza was the pizza my elementary school got for Tuesday Pizza days.
Andy’s eyes look more like *nose nostrils* (facepalm). I don’t think they thought that design well. I don’t remember ever seeing these ads at all. I might’ve been too young to remember them or might’ve never even saw them.
Mr. Delicious was such a bad mascot that the Rax company released a mini-documentary saying Mr. Delicious is a revolutionary character that'll go down in history as one of the world's greatest mascots... And he was one of the nails pounded into Rax's coffin.
I think there's a reason why he was called Bad Andy because the ads were bad
As a man who has a massive cassette and VHS collection, respect
I had forgotten about Bad Andy…but…I liked him 😂 I was also like 13-14 when he came out, so I guess that sophomoric early 2ks humor was right up my alley
Kinda wanted to mention something about the Noid.
uhh
no they didn't retire the Noid because of the Killer named Noid.
in fact it actually happened LONG before they retired the character.
the reason they retired him was more because the whole gist of "Free Pizza if not delivered under 30 Minutes" thing kinda became dated, since the Company doesn't make it free like that nowadays.
Oh shoot, I think I actually saw part of one of these when I was younger! I remember seeing some kind of ad with a puppet briefly, but I didn't see what it was for (I think we were changing the channel and planning to watch something else), and all I remember was seeing one frame where the puppet leapt out of his seat or something (our old CRT would freeze frame when changing channels and fast-forwarding on DVR), though if it really was Bad Andy, it might've been the ad with the vibrating chair. I dunno, I thought it looked like a pizza ad.
The second worst pizza mascot, papa John's is the worst
A friend used BadAndy in his AIM screen name. He usually went by Drew.
0:45 They've experimented with bringing the Noid back for a few times lately
Bad Andy was no Noid.
At least there one other different that the Noid had, that Bad Andy lacks.
It has Yo! Noid! Although that's a reskin of Kamen no Ninja Hanamaru that was published in Japan by Capcom.
Bad Andy was canceled prematurely because viewers hated him, but Lemo Emo and Doug still haunt our devices for some reason.
tbh your VHS collection is like my Comic Collection gotten over 20,000 Comics and still Climbing from Marvel, Timely, DC, Pre-DC, Looney Tunes etc. imo i'd say keep at your hobby lol
Plot twist he works for little Caesars
Your VHS collection looks pretty cool :)
Bad Andy looks like his normal eyes fell off and they just used his nose holes as his eyes
I remember The Noid from when I was a kid but I don’t even remember Bad Andy. Gives you an idea of how good and impactful the ads were
Quoting the nostalgia critic as a reliable source for comedy is like quoting Jeff Bezos as a reliable source for employee rights
Lmao ikr
Second mascot? So we're just going to completely ignore Donny Domino from the 90s?
Bad Andy was Awesome.
While everyone else was working hard to get you your pizza hot, fresh and on time, Bad Andy was relaxing and snoozing away, loving life.
Andy's so adorable!❤🥺
I thought Andy was a riot, it was the corny shtick theme and his intolerable foul ups that had me in stitches. For contrast, I never found Seinfeld to be that funny, ever. 🤔🤔🤔🤔😉😉😉
Yeah keep trying for that Bad Andy plush but it usually goes for around 300$+ since it's so rare, who knew someone could pay so much for Bad Andy.
I think Bad Andy is cute.
That's all.
I remember these commercials
I remember these ads and I remember there was a Dominoes by my house for my entire childhood. To this day I have never eaten a Dominoes pizza. We would go to Pizza Hut all the time though. I remember going to Pizza Hut after seeing the Phantom Menace and all us kids got star wars toys with our pizza. There was a salad bar and it was really good. We also got free Pizza Hut PC games that were prepackaged with America Online on CD Roms. They were actually really good. Great memories at Pizza Hut. I remember see the ads from Domino's and remember passing the store but also remember never going inside.
Great video! I look up bad Andy every few months bc I was named after him lol
The Noid Is Back Tho but Imagine All the Dominos Pizza Mascots Team Up
I can't see Bad Andy's puppet and not immediately think of the former Levi Jeans mascot turned Plunderphonics icon Flat Eric. I know he's more well known for the latter, but still
It's interesting he didn't mention Kevin Lamar Noid.
The guy who was off his medication and thought the noid was making fun of him personally.
It ended very badly. Couple people died.
What a coincidence! Dire Trip's just released a video on The Noid incident.
The problem with Bad Andy was pretty simple - Domino’s had thrown themselves so hard at the Noid that they were “the pizza place the Noid commercials and games are about”. Any time they could talked about retiring him, they didn’t because their wagon was hitched to his horse.
And then K.L. Noid did what he did, and they had to expunge a character whose impact can’t be overstated. Andy was an attempt to recapture lightning in a bottle. He failed, miserably. And that’s part of why I saw a Noid ad in 2021.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Domino's was the pizza product placement they had in the original TMNT movie from 1990. I'm kinda surprised they didn't work out some kind of on going business deal to keep advertising through the Turtles movies, anf maybe even do some commercials. I remember the second movie started with the Turtles rescuing a pizza delivery boy. It's too bad Domino's didn't get in on that. They could have even made some commercials with similar ideas. I know it might not have much longevity, but this was back during Turtle-Mania! Fans would have loved ads like that back then, and we'd have been nostalgic for them now.
Ironically Dominos is the pizza that's used in the actual movie, yet for the original vhs release they had an ad for pizza hut right at the start before the movie so it seems pizza hut became the pizza place most associated with the turtles.
@@BriSand1993 That makes sense. I remember seeing pizza hut ads with the more recent movies (I.E. the crap ones we don't talk about) so its not too odd to think Pizza Hut has some history with the franchise. I actually forgot about the 1990 movie's VHS ad. My parents were super strict back then, and didn't want me to watch the first movie because of the swearing. I only saw it once back then, and later I would fast forward past the ads so I could watch the movie faster.
@@joshhacker8503 Yeah but you're right in that Dominos really dropped the ball by not capitalizing on what they had.
Never thought Two Rivers would be mentioned
You're The Media Critic, you remember it so we don't have to :)
Andy's no Noid. He's just Bad
I got a Hungry Howie's ad for this video
Andy just reminds me of those no David books that were hilarious as kids, but not really as when your older
So I’ve been watching a lot of old commercials since 2012
I was more into the video games commercials from 2000s the launch of the Xbox GameCube and ps2
Do you remember the GameCube commercials or the ps9 and of course the green Xbox ball teaser for Microsoft’s new console!?
this is like a very meticulously created jerma bit
Monkey and Al was later used for PG Tips, a brand of tea
In defense of the Noid, he was still an interesting character; and not a lot of fast food mascots that aren't Ronald McDonald or the Burger King were really memorable back then and now. Honestly Dominos should rip off the bandaid and actually bring him back, I don't think a lot of mainstream consumers even remember _why_ he was discontinued anymore.
Bad Andy though? Yeah he's just a bootleg Noid.
Malicious Andrew was the Noid if he was working from the inside
I forgot about these, and I think they were out when I was like,7 when they were out
12:14 WOOPDOO?! Isn’t they made The Fifteen Minutes Object Show?
Dominos didn't understand just how impactful the art style was in the Noid's success.
"Bad andy" sounds like something jerma would get called
the noid is making a little bit of a comeback, the noid even had a video game crossover with crash bandicoot last year
Why does Andy look like a Canadian from South Park
Wow, I had forgotten this campaign even happened. But it all came flooding back. Yeah, I hate commercials in the first place, bad commercials are insult to injury.
bad Andy sounds like something twitch chat would call Jerma
0:40 I used to love Domino’s CinnaStixs they were so delicious 😋 especially when dipped in the icing I miss the CinnaStix at Domino’s I wish they’d bring ‘em back one day
Don’t remember these but I do remember how HORRIBLE dominos was then. Had I seen these I had would’ve been all for trying that cardboard pizza again. Awkward is awesome.
Speaking of the Nostalgia Critic, Media Mementos guy sounds like what would happen if Ross Scott shared Potara Earrings with Doug Walker.
Imagine if Domino's used Andy in their UK advertising material.
What's snuggles bear doing in a dominoes pizza commercial?
I remember the noid
Unrelated to the video i know but is it ok if i ask you guys to make a "svtfoe vs the network" in the future?
Or is it "star vs the network" huh? lol
Dire Trip just uploaded a video on the situation around The Noid. Y'all's videos are 30 mins apart in upload, and right next to each other on my subscription feed. Was this planned??? 😂😂😂
Found his plush for 350
Dominos is still what it is but they made massive improvements in quality
The Noid: and I thought I was evil!
i had this dumb idea for a different take on Andy, what if instead he was a wacky inventor or just a smart alleck who loves pizza using his inventions to make Domino's' better but messes it up. Like for the heat pads he forgoes them and instead uses a car with a built in pizza oven to cook a half baked pizza only to return after the deliveries drenched in sweat claiming there was a bug or two. Or uses some sort of fake arms for making pizzas faster by hand which worked well until they malfunction due to the amount of pizzas.
Nothing spectacular but I thought it was funny
i mean my name is andy but do i think the adsare about me?
NO.
Sounds like a nickname for a twitch streamer
This was a really great video that was right up my alley. This guy Deserves more views and subs
I remember there was an nes game of Yo noid.
The noid commercials had already ended, before that lunatic held up a random dominos.
But it was killed by a controversy. The noid was connected to Dominos “30 minutes or less” campaign. That campaign caused legal issues after a Dominos delivery driver got into a car accident.
So this entire ad campaign had to be scrapped anyway.
Andy looks like a Canadian character from South Park 😂
Is he a Chowder 😂
"comedy is derived from misery"... uh, only for certain people... not all people... not all people
Wash Post article from last year said Domino's was bringing back the Noid character. Also the Mr Noid who did bad stuff killed himself in 1995, 6 years aftee he...did the bad stuff
