The most underrated band of all time. HANDS DOWN. how in the world did me and a buddy discover them, back in the day, I'll never know. I had the second LP. the one with mercury and ballerina out of control. listening to it now, and it appears timeless. Considering the recent success of the mellow, chill indi rock like Death cab 4 cutie. Ocean blue was just simply ahead of its time.
Back in the early 80's I was raising my Babies and had no time to pay attention to Great Bands like Ocean Blue Band. I am 60 Years old and my Babies grew up and now they are in their early 30's and since I have more time in my hands I Started to discover Awesome Bands like this one I really Love it!
@@johnnygalvan845 my bad, hey my brother in law is Joe Galvan, probably related he's a big cure and fan of Brit bands, his daughter in London studying medicine, take care Johnny
Met Dave and whole band in Frisco years ago (with Allen Clapp from The Orange Peels). My wife could not go since she was in dental school and Dave let me video record him telling my wife that he was sorry that she missed the show and wished her well. After the show he even showed me some chords on his guitar for Cerulean. Not only is their music the best, but just a humble and classy crew that really loves their fans. I never forgot that Dave!
At work I was asked who my favorite band was without thinking I responded with "the ocean blue" I was feeling special that day❤ such a classie man David
I love how David mentioned The Innocence Mission and talked about Karen's solo record..... Pennsylvania may not have the best reputation for breeding really good bands, but we've got The Ocean Blue, Riverside, and The Innocence Mission.... in my opinion, that's the holy trinity of American dreampop.
David would take time to respond to my messages to him in MySpace, awesome guy with such legendary reputation... The Ocean Blue was The Smiths of 90s that influenced a lot of what came out in the indie scene, from the Swedish indiepop sound to the guys that were part of the Siesta records, there's no mistaking. My love for The Ocean Blue is beyond life and time.
After watching some videos of interviews of the The Drums, seeing Jacob, Jonny and Connor, I Googled The Ocean Blue because The Drums reminded me of them. Look up images of original group with David (The Ocean Blue and Cerulean albums) The Ocean Blue and see what you think. Such an underrated band and I am so lucky to be graced by their art in the 90s. Love forever and respects to The Ocean Blue. Please keep touring. Will be looking for you in the West Coast tour circuit.
I absolutely love this band! Of course, David is the frontman and is writing his own material and producing it, I'll definitely be keeping up with his new tunes from here on out! Cheers!
Here it is, the lead singer of one of my all time favorite bands that I hope they come again to Lima-Peru to play their amazing and unique music... The Ocean Blue!
One of the few bands that have actually gotten better with time. I thought their lyrics were weak early-on, but have improved dramatically as Schelzel has gotten older. Can't wait for their next album!
I'm a punker at heart but if there is one band I would have been in when I just got out of high school it would have been this. Funny part is that I only got into these guys in thelast two years. That said very much in my wheel house...but so is the Clash and Social Distortion...any suggestions on an inbetween band? Haha!!!😆
this is incredible and typical for Dave, superb music, clever smart mind, and wonderful songwriting, Ive followed them from the beginning and never cease to be amazed...
its funny but the "green" album and Cerulean were their best albums lol...lets go back to green please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No mistake this band changed my life but please get them all back!!! ughhh
Not a great version of Billy Idol. Really need a wetter vocal for the song to be effective, plus the drum and claps. Love the new stuff and the old stuff alike. This new record is fantastic....
This band, Sundays, Primitives, Trash Can Sinatras, Stone Roses and Morrissey take me back to college days.. Good times...
+D Barr The Sundays; oh yeah. Reading, Writing and Arithmetic. I was in college in 1990, and boy do I remember.

Wouldn't disagree at all if it weren't for the Prayer Boat ... Ckeck those Irish lads if you like ! I think you won't be disappointed, mate. Cheers !
They were actually all over college radio in the very early 90s and even got some MTV airplay, so not too hidden.

Never too late for good music…
When everyone was listening to Grunge, I was listening to the Ocean Blue and English bands.
Ocean blue is an American band
@@h.camacho4800 yeah I know that’s why I said “and English bands.”

Talent at its best! This band is an undiscovered goldmine of talent!
Man was that good and takes me back! Low-profile legend in my book.
Awesome cover of Billy Idol's Eyes without a Face. Dave has always been a great song writer and i'm glad that The Ocean Blue are still going on.

Joe Bore I like the Ocean Blue , but the Smiths - come on!
Amo a Océano Blue, desde mi adolescencia.🤗
I saw them in Santa Fe in 93 and they were amazing
Excelente David y Ocean Blue increíbles 👍

I can't believe he said he can't even listen to the first album... :'( It is my favorite!!!!
Still sounds same as then. Absolutely new an refreshing today.
I'm will see them live in Chicago in November!! I've loved them for 20 YEARs and am looking so forward to this moment.
I absolutely love this band! Of course, David is the frontman and is writing his own material and producing it, I'll definitely be keeping up with his new tunes from here on out! Cheers!
omg, he never gets old. Good for him! By the way, what a performance!
Jesus, he sounds the same here as he did on the first album! Terrific stuff, and that cover of 'Eyes Without a Face' is a sweet and mournful.
Love every bit
They are still great and sound Awesome!
MAybe because they were that "green" I loved TOB's first record. SO natural and brilliant
I'm not really sure how I got turned into them but by God I'm glad!!! Been listening to them since the 2nd album. They are timeless.
Here it is, the lead singer of one of my all time favorite bands that I hope they come again to Lima-Peru to play their amazing and unique music... The Ocean Blue!
Actually they came and saw them two days ago... Fantastic show! Thanks to TOB to come again to Lima! Thanks, thanks!
Great music & interview. Thank you for this post!!!!

Holy shit I'm so pissed I missed them, Riverside, AND Don Peris of The Innocence Mission a few weeks ago............
Special thanks to Steve Masters at LIVE 105 for turning me on this band!
eyes without a face, nice.
What ever David sings turns your body into s Oragasmic transformation
Sweet "Wooden Music".
And he's wearing a Swatch Watch 👌
Who’s watching this in 2021?
Big crush
Omg, omg, omg :,)
Great band, and consistently listenable albums. Interviewer reminds me so much of Seth Meyers.
its funny but the "green" album and Cerulean were their best albums lol...lets go back to green please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No mistake this band changed my life but please get them all back!!! ughhh
cool
What does he mean by they were so green? like environmentally friendly?
fenrirfang77 "Green" refers to how inexperienced and 'new' to music they were.
thank you!
mierda drifting and falling....SUENA MUUUUY parecido a juegos DE seducción....de SODA STEREO....

Any relation to Dorian Gray ?
He was nervous..
He sounds nervous and the guitar sounds terrible for a Martin. The intro song would have been better if the other guy joined in.
His voice is terrible! A little reverb would have helped him tremendously.
Kermit the frog?
Not a great version of Billy Idol. Really need a wetter vocal for the song to be effective, plus the drum and claps.
Love the new stuff and the old stuff alike. This new record is fantastic....
verve92 and the girls to clap them, oc
I would like to produce a TV show featuring The Ocean Blue.
