KANE in 2003 was PURE EVIL!

- 2003 was a wild wild year for the WWE, and one of the most memorable moments of the year was when Kane took his mask off. After 6 long years of wearing a mask, the big red machine Kane, finally unmasked. It was supposed to be the beginning of a new Kane. A way to make Kane... KANE again. Take him back to his old ways. However I don't think anyone was ready for what we got. Kane went back to his old ways and more some. Out of nowhere Monday Night Raw began Monday Night Kane. It became a horror movie, and Kane was the main character. Lets go back in time to 2003 and take a look back at just how insane and crazy Kane was in '03.

Kane in 2003 was DEFINITELY one of my biggest nightmares as a kid. Everything he did, and the fact that he’d be more evil each week, gave me some of my most traumatic memories ever, and my god I miss that feeling of thinking everything was real back then. Made things more fun. Kane burning JR, electrocuting Shane’s balls, tombstoning Linda McMahon on the stage, it was all shocking stuff. What a time to be alive.😅
This would’ve been the perfect time for Kane to get a World Championship run🔥. But ofcccc….Triple Nose existed.
I swear you comment on all of pev’s vid’s lol (not trying to be rude)
FR
Kane was a hero
I was jaw dropped in that time when Kane Tombstoned Linda on the stage or Eric off the stage partially missing the table lmao. He looked menacing. I was 9 years old In 03. Also, when Shane fought Kane at Survivor Series in the ambulance match he creeped me out big time
Finger Eleven - Slow Chemical was one of my favorite WWE themes and it fit Kane like a glove.
This era of WWE themes from the PPVs to the wrestlers was undefeated 🔥.

Kanes facial expressions were great imo. He definitely took advantage of the fact he was unmasked, and with his horrific actions and over the top booking, you got an OP but epic heel.
Seriously, I love Kane's masked looking as much as the next fan as pretty much all of those designs were dope but him becoming unmasked allowed him to really showcase his superb acting skills in terms of expressing himself through his facial reactions. Dude also looked even more menacing unmasked than he did before thanks to the eye makeup and shaved head look, like something straight out of a horror movie
from a Kevin Nash copy to even bigger than Nash himself
This version of kane is how I choose to remember Kane.
In a year where Raw was generally garbage, these Kane segments absolutely elevated the show. These were the best parts.
I would pay money for each episode of raw if wwe could have produce similar shows today
Raw was not garbage in 03 wtf
@@Jayoosavyes it was 😂 smackdown in 2003 was way better
@@armonthomas81 it was better but that ain’t make raw suck lol
@@Jayoosav it sucked imo. Seeing HHH every Monday talk as an opening got old quick
They had the chance to push Kane from a main event contender to a legitimate main event CHAMPION after his unmasking. But of course they ended up dropping the ball. It still blows my mind how the WWE never saw Kane as someone they could build up as a legitimate world champion rather than just someone who always challenged for the title but inevitably came up short. He was one of the hardest, most consistent workers in the company, had the size and look that WWE salivates over, and was over as hell with the fans. As great of a career as Kane had, he could have been an even bigger deal if they had booked him correctly
That’s where you got it wrong. Kane didn’t NEED a championship. Like the Undertaker, the character is what got them over, a title would just be supplementary. You remember Kane most when he didn’t even have a title. Does anyone remember crazy Kane moments when he was ECW champion or World Heavyweight Champion? No, but you remember when he went on rampages, fought Undertaker, etc. He didn’t have a title in most of those instances.
@@sirnetflix7162 He would have still benefitted from winning a title or two and having a legitimate reign during this time, establishing as a true mega star in the industry. Instead they were giving it to Triple H like 6 times even was just plain unnecessary. Just like how Taker eventually needed to hold the titles a couple times during the Ruthless Aggression eras in order to remain a legitimate threat to other champions instead of just a scary character who somehow always came up short against the top dogs, Kane could have 100% benefitted from the same kind of booking even if it was to a less frequent extent than Taker got. If Taker went from 1991 to the late 2000s without a single long term title reign the way Kane did, you dont think that would have hurt how how his character was looked at? Just being someone who was constantly challenging for the titles but always losing thos matches EVERY SINGLE TIME like Kane did until he became ECW champion in 2007? No way, Taker was taken as serious as he was due in large part because he dethroned Hulk, he dethroned Sid, he dethroned Austin, he dethroned Batista, Edge, and so on and so forth. That's what separated him from being remembered as one of the biggest stars in the history of the industry compared to Kane, he was given the chance to actually go out there and be seen by the fans as one of the true top guys in the industry kayfabe wise who could win the title on any given night, whereas you couldn't say the same about Kane from 97 to 07 as he ALWAYS lost in title matches minus that weak 24 hour title reign he got. Kane deserved better booking, point blank and period
this run happened during hhh's reign of terror on raw so he was never letting kane reach that permanent main event level
Dude I don't think kane needed the champion that wasn't really the point of his character
The problem with the kane didn't need the title argument is if he doesn't need it then why is he fighting for it? By him going after a championship and not winning it he is devalued has a monster
Kane was really terrifying in 2003 and 2004 until that train wreck of a feud between Kane, Lita and Edge happened.
Aaaaand that fued w/ snitsky lol ppl out here kicking babies lol
"IT.... WASHNT.... MY.... FHAULT" (titantron of snitsky punting a baby starts playing)
I actually would have cleaned up that fued allot, have there be no baby involved or wedding it be strictly lita as Kanes manager, snitsky hits kane with the chair he falls on lita injuries her neck, but when snitsky injured kane in 2004 this is when I would have introduced Kanes remasking in the form of his resurrection with him returning in 2005 remasked
@@MIS3RY.Lmao
That feud was great
I love how stone cold went to the ring to talk sense into Kane. Stone Cold should be the last person to de-escalate a situation 😂😂😂
Underrated comment 😂
Kane in 03-04 was essentially a villain from a slasher movie. Of course WWE ruined it by humanizing his character too much again, but psycho Kane was fun while it lasted.
They ruined it by having him lose all the time. It’s no longer a monster when he always gets slain
@@pleaseshutup7053 True, that's why Taker rarely lost, and even when he did, it typically wasn't a clean loss. WWE does know how to make someone look like a monster (see Taker, and Brock) they could have done the same for Kane, yet they chose not to.
@@SpinosaurusTheProudSocialist
I kinda like his look as soon as he took his mask off he looked like taker
Funny you mention that since Kane did actually play a serial killer once.
Kane (Glenn Thomas) also wanted to work with the mic. as he is a great speaker. So he cannot always be the silent monster. Undertaker has his American badass runs where he showcase his mic skills. Glenn wanted some of that. I heard this in one of his interviews.
My favorite aspect of Kane's attire during his 1997-2003 run is the gradual transformation. Over time, his mask became less restrictive, allowing us to see more of his face, leading up to the suspenseful unmasking. It's a captivating evolution that added depth to his character! 🔥
6:39 🥺🥺 Kane you beautiful beast... That was the safest Tombstone Piledriver I ever seen
That chained entrance with the black towel over the head is something else.
+ Slow chemical is like, top 5 WWE themes ever
2003 Kane was just traumatizing, watching him and Shane go from haha extreme matches to Kane literally trying to kill Shane was insane I remember the first time watching Kane trying to electrocute Shane made wwe feel like a horror show, although Kane deserved a title I think 6 months of him going full serial killer mode was fun to watch as it made him more scary and intimidating.
If you ask me, this incarnation of Kane should've have gotten a win over The Undertaker (or had he done that already? Memory's hazy.) Not at Wrestlemania, mind you, as I think the streak should've remained in tact. However, a victory over his brother would've solidified him as a contender for the title. I'd even book him to have a title reign, too.
Kane was amazing in 2003. But by 2006, most of his fans wanted him to wear his mask back
Kane scared the crap outta me as a kid and even more so when he was in “see no evil”
I was born in 06, but Kane’s 2003 run will always be one of my favorites

My favorite version on Kane personally, dude was terrifying.
Those matches he had with Shane were so much fun
2003 Unmasked Kane was pure nightmare fuel, the coldest mf on the WWE roster
Meanwhile the Kane I grew up with was in a suit being Triple H's bodyguard 😂
I grew up during that period too. The Authority Era was lowkey 🔥 too
My mom used to call him "El loco"😂😂 (the crazy one) 😂😂
Kanes theme slow chemical tied it all together. His character work at the time was pure madness
This entire Shane/Kane feud with all its antics is just the wrestling equivalent to Friday The 13th. Part 6 to be precise.
That man was a menace, bro was just scary, Linda, RVD, Stone Cold, Eric Bischoff, Shane McMahon, Goldberg, etc, everybody caught that Kane fade in 2003, how was this man not locked up 😭😭?
Unpopular opinion: 2003 unmasked Kane is the most scary and dangerous version.
1998 is the most dangerous
Unpopular for a reason
@@tmac731
1998 was one of his weakest years, what you mean? 1997 makes more sense, but 2000 & 2001 were masked Kane's strongest years.
@@tronovonflidder775 I meant 1997 but 1998 is not a weak year. That’s when Kane and Undertaker joined forces
@@tmac731
That was when Undertaker & Kane were treated as fodder heels to Stone Cold. Not a good year at all. Go look at Kane's statistics. Kane lost more than he won in 1998. I could be wrong, but I don't think he ever had a negative year like that, until 2012 or something. Either way, I remember watching through 1998, he lost a lot, trust me. He couldn't even win clean in a First Blood match when he's literally covered head to toe lol...
I always called this version "Serial Killer" Kane as he definitely had the ability to chill you to your bones with that crazed look, bald head and getup. No surprise they cast him as the billed villain in a horror movie.
This was one of my favourite storylines, it was a shame that this psychotic version of Kane didn't last longer.
I think my favorite part about this version of Kane was his theme, Slow Chemical. In particular on the August 11th episode when Kane was supposed to face Eric Bischoff. JR on commentary was doing a hell of a job, Bischoff was selling Kane’s entrance like it was an execution and then Kane’s pyro hits perfectly with the song going into the chorus.
I’ve been saying 2003 Kane was the most vicious version of him for YEARS . 1997-2001 he was a tank but 2003 he was literally a monster .
Who's more evil kane 97-98 or kane 03
@@lintonhardy9035 03 Kane tbh, Masked Kane was like the terminator, a silent but deadly killing machine. Unmasked Kane was psychotic and straight up evil.
@@sonomniTrue and i want to add 2001-2002 Kane was arrogant
From someone who witnessed Kane in the Attitude Era, this was a dope heel turn. This is what could've catapulted his Hollywood career with the See No Evil movies. He should've done more movies. I'm guessing nothing really beats that true love for wrestling.
This Kane outside of his Debut was the version I remember!
He should've got a run as World Heavyweight Champion in 2004. Imagine him beating Chris Benoit for the title at Bad Blood.
The feud should have continued past bad blood
Idk how no other people have covered this era of Kane like this but it for sure was my favorite run of his. I was still a kid actually believing that he was tweakin every week. One of the scariest monster runs in wwe history.
ya everyone hates on unmasked Kane
@@Belive7heHype I think it’s because of how bland and forgettable he became after this monster push was up. Feels like he wasn’t the same after the Lita angle, that kinda took away his mystique.
This kanes the reason I used to run up the stairs so fast at night
You bloody baby I was playing with kane in the year 2000 I love kane 🔥🔥
Kane was the most bad ass character in WWE history. If he scared you as a kid, he did a great job. Just shows you how on point his acting was. Kane used to scare the hell outta me. Whenever Raw begins, I'd always expect him to enter. He used to wipe out WWE superstars either for no reason, or only when you get in his way
Unmasked Kane scared me so much I stopped watching for weeks when I was a kid 🤣
Deadass was scared of him and undertaker lol
One of the most bad sass entrances ever is Kane being escorted by police to the ring in handcuffs. He pauses to laugh at jr gets me every time
This was awesome Kane's entrance on the August 11th 2003 episode of Raw is iconic Can't believe this Happened 20-years ago time flies i remember this like it was yesterday kane should've won the world Heavyweight title in 2003 not 2010
Trips was in the midst of his reign of terror back then.
There is a Book Called See No Evil on his backstory its actually a really amazing book.
It’s amazing how sinister he made the character during this era. He was scary in his debut but this was terrifying!
I loved this Kane run tbh I enjoyed it more than the 97/98 run. Truly something special Kane deserves so much more respect he is criminally underrated the great matches the great stories and just how terrifying he was. Something idk if modern wrestling fans could ever understand. What an amazing run Kane had in 2003.
I met Kane (Glen Jacobs) twice at meet and greets. He was very nice to me. The first time I met him, I thought he was going to be mean or something, but no. He was very friendly. Kane 2003 was terrifying for sure. I love his theme song “Slow Chemical.”
Fantastic video mate. 2003 Kane was something special and genuinely scary at the same time. 😅
WWE was peak live entertainment in the ruthless aggression era. The attitude era was good, but the madness we witnessed between 2002 and 2007 was truly insane.

And yet, people think the unmasking him was what killed him. When nah, the bad storylines killed it. Man should've gotten a World title run after he became a Monster again, but he just...Didn't. I’m glad I had a uncle who showed me all the old wrestling from 1990,wcw all the eras too❤😢
Vince McMahon failed to see Kane's potential as a character, and as a result, Kane never really got the chance to shine like The Undertaker. He deserved the WWE or world title in 1998, 2003, and 2012, in my opinion. And the fact that he never won a Royal Rumble still boggles my mind.
I've seen many people comment that Kane never needed a championship and that he was happy to put over young talent throughout his career. I partially agree with these points, but I'm damn sure if Vince had booked him to win, he wouldn't have said no. Moreover, constantly putting over young talent did nothing good for his career; it only made him look like a weaker and more pathetic version of his past self.
