Just because these 'celebrities' throw money at obscure wristwatches, does not give them 'authority'. John Mayer is a complete non entity in the UK. Only people that have heard of him are into watches. Funniest response yet…that dude who interviewed Ed Sheeran. As a watch ambassador, I find it authentic, but without weight. To be honest, get Taylor Swift to wear a Cartier, and Cartier wins, even if she couldn’t tell the time.

I think John Mayer is a lot of watch people’s Taylor Swift. Mayer is THE absolute tastemaker in the watch world. I watch his first Talking Watches at least 1x a month and I feel better, probably very similar to women who listen to Taylor Swift breakup songs and feels better about their lives.

The Royal Oak Watch company's 1159 are too big and especially too thick. The case design is great though.

John Mayer has always been careful not to come across as crass & vulgar with his watch collecting, if anything in his first 2 Talking Watches appearances on Hodinkee he came across as quite cool. His appearance with Ed Sheeran was a catastrophe, they both looked like spoilt dickheads with no connection to the real world.
If not for John Mayer I would not be into watches
