No code, it was just story (yes to funny/silly)... "The song is written from the point of view of a blue-collar man named Aloysius Devandander Abercrombie, whose nickname is "Mud". When his friend steps on his prized patent leather shoes, the two get into an argument that ends with Mud killing the friend by striking him in the head with an aluminum baseball bat; the lyrics describe Mud's thought process while he attempts to bury the body."

I find it hilarious how people can find utter shit music as phenomenal. A band that couldnt play a song that makes sense musically if their lives depended on it.
I'm just curious, what made that song great? Was it the looping single bass riff through the whole song? Oh wait, maybe it was that guitar solo that sounded like he was dragging the guitar across the floor. Or maybe its the lyrica that you have to struggle to hear because the mix is terrible.
The only decent song they have is the South Park theme

@@mikaeladoyle8372 I have a theory that the younger generations are not reading as much literature. It seems like a bigger emphasis in public school education (In the USA at least) is to prepare for standardize tests, rather than actually learning scholarly concepts. Growing up, we were reading at least 3 or 4 books a year, and then had to write a book report on them outlining our interpretations of these books. In high school, we would analyze the books identifying satire, foreshadowing, irony, etc. Looking at social media, I see a lot of errors that come from not reading often. Errors like using the word "loose" instead of "lose" or "would of" instead of "would've." These errors seem like it comes from spelling these words and phrases phonetically, rather than their proper way. I get it though. I don't read as much as I used to either. I am more likely to listen to a podcast or consume a book via Audible, so I am not judging. I'm just thankful that I grew up in a time where there was an emphasis on reading literature, rather than listening to it.

I think "Mudd" has multiple meanings. Being misunderstood which Les is. To possibly going back further in our history. To less just being awesome at putting a band together. I saw him at the first Bonnaroo w his side band. It was great.

Les Claypool auditioned to be Metallicas bass player. He was turned down because the band didn’t want their bass player to be the best musician in the group. They were afraid they couldn’t keep up with his skills. James Hatfield confirmed this in several interviews.

From Wikipedia. A popular theory for this expression's origin derives it from Dr. Samuel Mudd, the physician who was convicted as conspirator after he set the broken ankle of President Lincoln's assassin, John Wilkes Booth. But the expression was first recorded in 1823, when mud was slang for a stupid person or fool, a usage dating from the early 1700s. Later the term mud simply alluded to discredit.

If you guys do more Primus songs, you need to understand that Primus are not that complicated. Primus is almost Folk Metal. Les tells a very simple story each song. There isn’t a hidden message. DMV is a song about waiting in line at the DMV. Laquer Head is about a guy huffing gasoline fumes. Southbound Pachyderm is about Flying Elephants going south. Fisticuffs is about prisoners in jail bare knuckle boxing. Coattails of a Deadman is about Courtney Love riding Kurt Cobain’s coattails to become famous. All very simple stories.

He states his name (Aloysius Devandander Abercrombie), but people call him Mud. He gets treated bad by someone, so he hits him with a bat (kissed him upside the head with an aluminum baseball bat). The song is stating in the beginning that he's burying said guy he kissed upside the head with the bat.

My name or your name is mud is an old expression stemming from the civil war era. The doctor who set John Wilkes Booth’s broken leg was named Doctor Mudd. He did not know what Booth had done. From that day on Mud meant you were a bad guy of sorts!
