I think we have a big problem when, according to Biden, the pope himself told Biden that he's a good Catholic and should continue to receive communion. I don't understand how the pope could come to this conclusion. Any thoughts?

My father was not a Catholic, but he had immense respect for the disciplines of the Church. He once said, “If you don’t want to obey what the Catholic Church teaches, why bother being Catholic?”
Most of the prelates lack the faith necessary to do what is being said here. They love this world.

I pray for all of our leaders including the President. It is not easy when daily I see the harm and evil he creates. But… it is true the worst among us are often the ones most in need of prayer. It makes me so sad to think about a man that old being so close to meeting our Lord face to face. I can’t imagine it… which is why in mercy I will continue to pray for him.

I wonder if a more direct approach could be effective with someone who is so deeply entrenched in sinful choices. We need to pray for Mr. Biden and for the bishop. Hopefully the bishop has already said as much to him in private out of concern for his soul.

I believe Biden's wife is a strong influence in his stance on abortion. She depicts this to him as a woman's right and he should to stand with them.
Excommunication for any public figure who supports grave sin, yes. Not as a “punishment,” per se, but as an acknowledgment that that person has already separated from Truth and as a way to discipline that soul into seeking repentance and correction. Moreover, we are allowing non-public figures to see figures like Biden and Pelosi and think that it’s also okay for them to support abortion if the Church isn’t reacting by denying public figures Holy Communion.
Either the hierarchy doesn’t love him enough, or doesn’t believe he’s in grave danger. They’re the ones telling him he’s a Catholic in good standing.

We seem to live in a very strange time of "The Sheep and the Goats" time (Matthew 25:31-46). And, I suppose, everyone is saying that s/he is on the 'sheep' side.
