@mikeel6074 The receivers are government funded to oversee the process. The security are there to protect the assets and/or the property of the creditors, debtors, landlord, employees and customers.
Usually the biggest creditor of any company and generally the one that initialises the receivers to investigate is His Majesty's Revenue & Customs (HMRC) because tax and VAT haven't been paid. This is how the taxpayers are paying for it. Essentially, everybody there is being funded by the taxpayer and it's very rare that enough money is recovered to pay for everything.
In this case the premises and land are rented so there's no real estate to sell, being a storage company almost everything on site is owned by the debtors (customers), any assets are likely to be minimal (computers, office furniture, racking, goods handling equipment, storage containers, etc.) and judging by the condition of what is on show I'd assume the items inside are in a similar condition so I wouldn't think it will make much money when sold.
I wouldn't think they'll raise enough to cover the HMRC debt and somebody has to pay the liquidators bill too.
They did have a fleet of trucks, trailers and vans but they were probably leased so will have already been returned to the leasing company. Also being a PLC, there is no liability on the directors or shareholders.

They were fearing the worst as it came across like he was going to drive the van straight through the barriers and out without going through the correct procedures. After the liquidators had been in, the property was handed back to the landlord and it was the landlord who organised the security etc. To be honest, it was very good of the landlord to allow people to get their stuff back imo.
