You think Todd Howard is the one who decides to re-release Skyrim 23 times? He and Bethesda Softworks choose which games to make and when(not being able to release Elder Scrolls 6 in this generation because they were also working on Starfield) but they certainly don't decide to re-sell games over and over. He probably didn't even want to make Fallout 76 but the company told them they needed to release something else if they weren't going to release Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield anytime soon.

This is gonna be my first experience of todd howard lies because when i played their previous games i never watched the presentations for those games so i never felt betrayed by the promised features.
My guess is that there's going to be a handful of "important" planets with a couple of hand-modeled locations separated by vast tracts of glorious procedurally generated nothing... and then a thousand or so trash planets that are fully procedural like those in No Man's Sky (which has 18 gorillion of them, so a thousand is nothing by comparison), which you will have literally no reason to visit outside of random side quests like "Bring us the severed arse of a wolf-rat from planet Bumfuck" or "Explore this procedurally generated outpost on planet Fuckall, which is just a series of interconnected hallways where you will kill some pirates and press a button on a terminal"

Its actually shocking how bad the game runs. I've seen benchmarks where the game ran at 50fps on an RTX 4090! I have a 3070 and got the same 50fps, so its definitely not a hardware issue.

It has big "infinite quests" energy. Like sure, 1,000 planets...you just aren't going to want to go to 99.5% of them.
My favorite part was twitch chat spamming "1000 empty planets OMEGALUL"
For me it was Fallout 4 scrapping UI at the beginning of the trailer. Then it got worse with radroach-isopods. Then even worse when I realized that the gun being used is just a laser rifle from FO4. And then it just got funny when the raider fight started and player activated a jetpack mid-jump, the same way it was done in FO4 gameplay trailer. Its like poetry, it rhymes. Roses are red, violets are blue, consoomers will yell "Todd I love you".

what did people expect them to do, patch new quests every 1 hour into the game? There were infinite quests, but they sucked, you did them kinda before and they didn't reward any good stuff. Also, games should have an ending.
The point is he shouldn't say or promise things he can't deliver on. It's a very rocky foundation to build your career on.
Even more technically, Skyrim hasn't infinite quests. There is a finite number of dungeon/enemy/goal combinations. Plus, random number generator -- which is what used to generate "infinite" quests -- will begin to output the same number sequence at some point, because it is not truely random.

I just sum it up to him being overly passionate about them because he is the game director for most mainline Bethesda games and he just gets a bit excited talking about them.

@@AliothAncalagon Yeah, in all fairness, they did show exactly what they said immediately lol. Todd almost never lies on very specific shit, he lies on vague statements that could be interpreted in like a dozen ways depending on who you ask. This presentation was a lot more blunt.
