Glads are a line flower. Line flowers are structure of your arrangement. They are also directional so you can use them to accomplish movement in a arrangement. As a ex-florist sometimes we would break just the top very pointy part. It great way to keep that line and some of green buds which give you a different interest than just the blooms at the bottom.
The front of your property looks amazing! I don't think we've seen it since you planted it? Please show it again in more detail so we can see the fruits of your labour 😄
I have to thank you for my glads in my garden. You've convinced me to order 200 and I am very happy about it. Oh my trick for securing the vase is marbles ❤
That tropical arrangement is fascinating. Not something I would think looks good in a store, but it's so striking when placed in your home - like a modern art piece!
Love the tropical arrangement -- you did a great job looking in your yard and finding items that duplicated the look. I definitely look at my yard and it's weeds differently since I've been watching your channel.
Serena, you are the best! I struggle with gladiolus arrangements and I love your ideas and enthusiasm. I am learning so much from you and your husband.
Glass beads that you put in aquariums are great at the bottom of vases to add weight and they don't look bad. I do it to stop my cats from easily knocking vases over.
Blimey. Two totally different arrangements, but I love them both. The second totally nailed the 'less is more' vibe, and what you were going for. Shows you really do need the skill of knowing when to stop. Beautifully done Serina.
I liked this format of changing scenes-I’m sure it was harder to film and edit but it was very appealing. Also the idea of showing how one can use glads in arrangements was great. I hope we see them in some of your market arrangements so we can see even more examples of how to use them.
I just kept nattering to myself as I watched - "floral foam! floral foam!" But then you said you don't use it, for whatever reason... you got pretty creative with it, so carry on. 👍
Simply cut the stems, use a taller weighted bottom vase. Simple solutions. In your solid container use some oasis. Ive worked with Glad for over 30 years, in all variations. They are wonderful, you just have to know how to use them. Shorter stems to the sides, longer stems as you work toward the middle, creating a grid with stems that will hold the taller ones in place. Keep practicing, you will get it.
Stunning colors! The yellow ones and white ones are my favorites. The colors are so clear, so vibrant! Great idea using the glad fronds. Now THERE'S a reason why you shouldn't cut down the cherry trees (aside from keeping Ian in unlimited cherries!). SHADE! Always keep your natural shade options open. I think both arrangements are nice. I love the color explosion of the glad-only one. And I love the visual interest of the the other one. I really like these "made by and made for Serina" videos! Keep 'em coming!
You have all the colors of glads needed for a rainbow arrangement! Stack 5 tall and skinny vases of all different heights together. Put each color of glads into one of the 5 vases. For best look, have the height of the flowers stagger in a spiral (like a spiral staircase). I too love glads, and struggle with coming up with different ways to arrange them. Love both of your arrangements!
You can also fill the rest of the vase with water, around the jars, and then you can fill it as full as you want! I think the fern would look good in the second arrangement as well.
I ordered glass for the first time thanks to your earlier video, I’ve planted one succession so far (in Australia) and this has made me so excited for them. Thanks for the follow up video.
I'm in zone 6, minus -20° F some days (20-35) thru winter. I have not had to dig up my glads in over 10 years ! I just plant the bulbs deeper ( 8-10") Course now I have so many babies each year, have to dig bulbs up and give away or transplant to other areas. Deeper keeps the 4/5 foot plants Standing with huge blooms of beauty.
I'm the one from Pennsylvania with a 30 gardens and I love that Florida's on you just did that so pretty with the hostas in the glads his talk to you later goodbye
Check out inexpensive waste baskets to use as vases. Or look for some florist vases at thrift shops…not that you have much time for shopping. My favorite vase to use is shaped like an urn. Do you ever offer a bunch of glads in you roadside stand?
Read commentary about this in detail in a previous video, there was discussion on what feeling Glads evoke and it was surprising to hear how Glads are perceived in different parts of the World.
Have you ever left some glads in the ground to see if they will overwinter? I’m in zone 4, and I didn’t dig them up when I planted them 3 years ago, and they have returned each year.
Thanks guys! So fun! I’m still waiting to see what Ian can produce. Or now that you have an employee Ian doesn’t need to learn? Can you try only pink, only yellow, orange, green bouquets using the same mix of flowers? Limiting the amount, size, color, style forces one to be even more creative. Love these “what can I make myself” videos. Hope they are quick and easy to make so that we get to see more more more beautiful flowers.
You NAIL IT….Ha ha bravo👍. I love what you arranged good choices and asymmetry….especially using the branch and curved wired glad leaves. Very Ikebana…
I too love gladiolus! I’ve had wonderful luck with buying from Longfield Gardens in the US - I’m getting stalks with 15+ blooms. What a gorgeous arrangement! When I have a beautiful single stem or up to 2-3 stems, I’ll put them into a tall vessel with a narrow opening - I’ve repurposed some gorgeous crystal decanters. Even a great wine bottle works. I’m so Glad you love Glads!
There once was a lad named Ian
Who was a floral acoustician
His wife went mad
And bought too many glads
So on to the market he be fleein'
There once was a gal named Serena
Who was a floral czarina
She took her snips
And made lots of clips
And danced just like a ballerina
Yay, Limmericks!@@nadinegriffin5252
That tropical arrangement is worthy of entering into a competition like “Art in Bloom”. ❤
Oh my God! Serena, that Hawaiian/Canadian arrangement looks amazing. You are so creative.
Agreed. I'm pretty impressed

Yup. With glads, you really need mechanics. They're worth it. I always think of them as flower towers.
If you tape your vase with the floral water proof tape and create a grid it will hold your heavy stems in place. Love the beautiful glads!
I couldn’t wait! I clicked so fast!😭😭❤
Same 💗
A great episode ❤😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉
I lived in Hawaii as a child and loved all the flowers available there and I think you totally captured the tropical vibe!
The front of your property looks amazing! I don't think we've seen it since you planted it? Please show it again in more detail so we can see the fruits of your labour 😄
The clothespin boutonniere made me smile. I walk around the house/garden with random misfit flowers/twigs in my hair😅
This is a wonderful tutorial, especially on how to be creative and resourceful. Eyes and brain, folks, eyes and brain.
The front garden looks FANTASTIC!! AND THE GLADS!!!! MY WORD!!! ❤❤❤
I have to thank you for my glads in my garden. You've convinced me to order 200 and I am very happy about it. Oh my trick for securing the vase is marbles ❤
I love quirky Serena arrangements. I'm here for it
wow wow wow.....realy wow..
I'm from Guam and it's a tropical island and the flowers are beautiful and has a tropical look to it
I don’t think it’s possible to make a bad arrangement with beautiful plants/flowers.
Serena flowers 🌺🌹 look beautiful.
That tropical arrangement is fascinating. Not something I would think looks good in a store, but it's so striking when placed in your home - like a modern art piece!
an orchid and a hibisous had a baby. love it.
So funny when Serena said this 😅😅😅😅
I would love the orange color glads in this arrangement. Both you made are beautiful.
imagine adding the orange ones to the tropical arrangement
Love the tropical arrangement -- you did a great job looking in your yard and finding items that duplicated the look. I definitely look at my yard and it's weeds differently since I've been watching your channel.
The arrangements were/are beautiful. Very innovative for the tropical one. 💖💖🎶🎶
Serena, you are the best! I struggle with gladiolus arrangements and I love your ideas and enthusiasm. I am learning so much from you and your husband.
Love love love this kind of videos 😀 Serena. You did so good with both arrangements ❤👍😊 they were beautiful
Nice job Serena! You did great…. Don’t critique yourself so hard. Those arrangements are amazing and very creative 🤗🥰💐
Glass beads that you put in aquariums are great at the bottom of vases to add weight and they don't look bad. I do it to stop my cats from easily knocking vases over.
Or improvise rocks from the garden
Blimey. Two totally different arrangements, but I love them both. The second totally nailed the 'less is more' vibe, and what you were going for. Shows you really do need the skill of knowing when to stop. Beautifully done Serina.

Beautiful! Glads are my favorite flower. :)
So beautifull the result..loving it❤
Love Gladys SOOO much. ❤️ Yours are beautiful. Thanks Serena.
It's good to take a tall vases for gladiolus.
I love the “tropical” arrangement!!!
Hosta leaves are the bomb!
This was fun
Lovely!
Hubby says go into the chicken wire with a dowel first, stretch out your hole, then insert your stem.
Ingenious ❤❤❤❤❤🤩
I just kept nattering to myself as I watched - "floral foam! floral foam!" But then you said you don't use it, for whatever reason... you got pretty creative with it, so carry on. 👍
Nailed it!!!❤

Great job with the glads!
Nailed it, queen!

The yellow flower you picked for it’s seed pods is an evening primrose. They are fun to watch open.
The tropical arrangement could be sold in your stand easy for 40 and also 10 glads of every colour and also some mixed bundled glads😀
Bolds and pastels 2 kinds of bunches make is easy

Great idea will try
Excellent!
I always look forward to your videos!
Serena you did a beautiful job on the arrangement. It's a win.
lovely :) I liked the vase!
Your chicken wire, if you don't remember during this video, is in the $1000 arrangement you took to your mother when you went away. 😃
We are gladiolus growers and you just need the right vase. Also it’s ok to cut them down to fit
You can also fill the rest of the vase with water, around the jars, and then you can fill it as full as you want! I think the fern would look good in the second arrangement as well.
You’ve inspired me! I’m going to use my zone 5a NY weeds and canna leaves with my glads
❤🌺🌈
I ordered glass for the first time thanks to your earlier video, I’ve planted one succession so far (in Australia) and this has made me so excited for them. Thanks for the follow up video.
Love the flowers and arrangements. I had gladiolas in my wedding flowers 55 years ago so I’m a fan. Mahalo.
How is it that Serena looks so sophisticated in that jumper and when I try to wear one, I look like a giant toddler?
I think you’re going to make it work, because somehow, even when it looks like it won’t work, you make it work !🎉
I'm in zone 6, minus -20° F
some days (20-35) thru winter.

My mom put at the bottom of a vase a metal spike block, which holds up her bouquet including Glads.
Flower frog it's called.
Like your tropical bouquet. Looks great. Your boutonnière is turning into a corsage. LOL
Check out inexpensive waste baskets to use as vases. Or look for some florist vases at thrift shops…not that you have much time for shopping. My favorite vase to use is shaped like an urn. Do you ever offer a bunch of glads in you roadside stand?
Did Serena say something about Glads being a low seller because they are associated with funerals? (*in a previous video along the way)
Read commentary about this in detail in a previous video, there was discussion on what feeling Glads evoke and it was surprising to hear how Glads are perceived in different parts of the World.
Either love them or hate them because they are generally associated as funeral flowers.
Use tape across te top in diamond shape n everything will be nice n even.
Glads are my favourite flower. Unfortunately I had thrips this year and couldn’t control them.
One more orange gladiola for punch.
Good morning 😘🌄 I think that you should get a screen sponge and pulled them in with the water they'll make the glaad stand up
so beautiful, so gorgeous! 😍💗💗💗
Serena your arrangements are fun and fantastic born from your creative mind. Unique and unexpected. Lovely Canadian tropical arrangement.😊
They are absolutely gorgeous!
Have you ever left some glads in the ground to see if they will overwinter? I’m in zone 4, and I didn’t dig them up when I planted them 3 years ago, and they have returned each year.
Really pretty 😍
I think I only remember glads from funeral arrangements.
I think they are used a lot in funeral arrangements , sadly have an association for being the "FUNERAL FLOWER "
I work at a funeral home and see a lot of yellow and white glads used for funeral arrangements, especially in early spring funerals.
Wow that is smart
❤❤❤Just Love you two, your videos and your farm!
❤❤❤
The tropical arrangement was beautiful!!
Great job!!! Love your videos 💮
nice arrangements!
WHAAAAAAAATTTT!!!! MINUTE 27 !!!! SPEECHLESS!!! HOW EXQUISITE!!!! #HAWAII #TROPICAL #BEAUTY
Very creative arrangement
with tall flowers, you can start with leaves, they will help the flowers hold their position and have more control
Добрый день, мои замечательные👍❤️🌺
