What Happened to Mario’s Voice?

- Everyone who hasn't been living under a rock knows who mario is, and they also know him for his bright, bubbly, Italian voice. His voice, along with his famous line 'it's-a me, mario!' Was a staple of his branding, so why has nintendo opted for a standard American voice this time round in the mario bros movie?
You may have noticed over the years that mario has been rarely getting new voice lines in his games, Nintendo has just been reusing previous voice clips. Does this mean anything? Are done with Charles martinet? Probably not. It's likely just because they a have a sufficient library of lines now so they don't need him as much.

I think Nintendo just wanted a recognizable voice actor to put on posters of the movie to boost sales.

Do families go to animated movies because of recognisable voice actors? It's usually because of the actual movie itself imo.

@@olive_liver Exactly! If this was a live action movie like marvel or something then yes, big actors do have an impact on sales but Animated? certainly not!

First of all Charles Martinet has been seen using Mario’s voice to speak full sentences and it sounds amazing. Second, Chris Pratt could’ve at least TRIED to do a voice. Sounds like he’s just doing his own voice. This is just another case of Hollywood cramming popular celebrities into films.

Sonics voice was also done by different voice actor to the games in the movies
Plus the argument doesn’t work for sonic since he’s constantly talking through out the games ever since sonic adventure in 1998
