  • In Part 12 of this video series, I install Rocker Arms, Pushrods, and Hydraulic Lifters in my Mercruiser 5.7L V8. This type of lifter needs to be preloaded and I run through the process.

      Working on audio editing for part 13. Maaaaybe have it up tomorrow. Appreciate you commenting!! Keeps me motivated to grind out these boat videos! Between you and me, I have completely rebuilt the entire engine, gimbal housing and am now working on the outdrive. So I have buckets of boat footage coming up - just have to edit it all.

    If your lifters are collapsed I suggest installing everything loose and turning the oil pump to fill the lifters.

      I let them soak in oil over night to at least get the air out of them. Worked great for me.

    Looks exactly right, call me and I’ll give you a sure fire way to drop the distributor in and have the timing almost perfect on start up.

    I have a 1994 5.7 I put in my rinker captiva 209. I am going to put vortec heads and extreme marine cam. I was wondering if mine was a hydraulic roller. Are your lifters factory?

      @605BOLT  Před 3 lety

      Oh nice. Ya, to my knowledge, all the parts in the engine are bone stock factory.

      I've only owned it two years.

      Cool. The vortec heads flow so much better and have a better chamber design. The heads have to use a different intake because of the bolt holes. So I'm gonna do the heads,intake cam and Holley 650, should add right around 100hp

      @605BOLT  Před 3 lety +1

      Ya for sure. It is a lot of work no doubt. I mean I don't do this for a living so everything takes me a little longer. But it isn't hard work. Just tedious and time consuming. Boats are always finding some way to take up your time haha. 👍
