- The Flex PXE 80 is a popular option when looking for a cordless mini polisher. This one is great because along with the 1" backing plates it also comes with a larger 3" backing plate. There are a few things that I absolutely love about this machine, but there are also a few things that I wish were different. The utilize an amazing quick release mechanism from switching between the rotary, 3mm, and 12mm movements which is my favorite feature of this machine. As far a price goes, this is on the higher end coming in close to the price of the Rupes Ibrid Nano. But is it worth it??? ENJOY!!!

Thanks for the great gear review and comparisons
I have the maxshine and currently reviewing it.
Fantastic bit of kit
Love this machine!
Great Video
Hey Josh. APS makes a kit that really makes this machine shine. I’ve only found it at Detail Division. But with Rupes coming out with a cordless 3” polisher for around $550, the kit and cone pads still keep this more affordable and the flex can do what the nano and the new 3” for a lot less money. Maybe the extensions and better backing plates in the kit may make this tool more functional for you.
Glad I watched this. I just ordered the flex mainly to replace my Rupes LHR75E so I’m so glad it comes with a 3” backing plate. I already own a nano long neck so the flex will definitely a good addition since I’m getting really tired of the power cable getting caught around tires. And I get you on the whole lack of accessories but most of us buying the more expensive tools already have a line up of pads compounds and polishes that we prefer. I would say the more expensive machines are more directed at the professional anyways than to a DIYer or weekend warrior.
I came back to watch the video for the holiday giveaway I watched until the end keep up the hard work thanks
Aweome review im sold
Gorgeous Porsche in the Bay IMJOSHV!! 🔥
Hey Josh I have a question not related to items in this video. For a blower which do you think is best if you’ve used both. The worxx blower or the Blo handheld blower S?
Hi could you compare the new turtlewax slick n slide vs like mrpink or Adams mega foam
what products do use day to day looks like you have rows of Maxshine behind you there ...?
I’ve had mine for about a year and I love it
Great to hear!!
I’m agree to with you though the trigger does suck though. Everything else is great though and I already had a ton of pads so that wasn’t that big of a deal for me.
would the max shine be safe to use on interior on the shiny black plastic pieces? piano plastic think it's called
Thanks man, grabbed the maxshine mini 👍
Nice!!
I have a mini polisher but it's rotary. Pretty sure it's max shine. Haven't had the chance to use it yet but I'm still considering buying a DA
Great review! Looks like the Adam's Swirl Killer Mini is the only mini you haven't reviewed at this point.
Hey Josh have you tested the sb3 nano?
Sir make a comparison with the new spta mini polisher, it's very similar to the pxe80
Josh, you can get an extension for it at Detail Division.
Have you seen the new Griot's Garage micro polisher? It only comes with one battery so far, but they will be offering a plug in adapter that utilizes the same cord as the rest of their polishers. Think that one is about $400 as well and appears to have a better switch plus an adjustable head. Also has a quick connect setup. Not sure, but I would be willing to bet that they teamed up with Flex.
Funny you mentioned the movements at about the 6 minute mark. Some guys have a bit of a hard time with the 3" plate and 12mm movement (getting it off). So, I made a small tool to aid in the removal. People that have used it say good things about it. I can send you one to try out
Where can I buy?
I have both the Rupes and the FLEX and reach for my FLEX over my RUpes all the time. The FLEX has has more power and less stall for sure. Also I will say I like that FLEX didn't load me up with a bunch of pads and polishes I don't use. Although the Rupes pads are great. They are not my go to pad or polish, so I would rather choose my own products that I like and prefer. Many of the cheaper polishers come with a ton of stuff, but none of which I would use on my vehicle. Also I find the battery life superior on the FLEX over the Rupes. Both Great units and Italian vs German so the quality is there for both. Also FLEX is always evolving where I feel Rupes does not innovate as much. It doesn't really hurt them because they have a great product line. FLEX is coming out with a 3" extension and also just came out with a 2" backing plate. The backing plates are made out of a super durable polyurethane(plastic). I know they have a lot of torture test time on those plates.
Is there any update on the 3" extension?
Waiting for black Friday lol
I just did a review on this machine and compared it to the griots G8 corded unit
Came here for the review, was debating on this or the maxshine v2 cordless mini. That trigger seems to be a design flaw on their part. Ordering the v2.
For the money I like the maxshine better, thanks Josh 👍😁
Is something this size the best for polishing windows??? Trying to remove hard water stains and micro scratches.
Large polisher works best on glass. This might on the corners. Water spots are tougher to get off. Special pads and compound work somewhat. I use a razor blade, 000 wool then compound (cerium oxide) with Rayon or wool pads. Sometimes this process makes a big difference and sometimes it doesn't.
Autogeek just released a vid and Flex just came out with a 2” plate/adapter and very soon flex is coming out with a 3” extension arm. Check it out it’s on Autogeek YT channel. They also explain why the power switch is designed the way it is. Cheers.
I think the Rupes ibrid needs a revision. Its time!
Hey just wanted to let you know so constructive criticism, as a videographer I noticed that your lav mic in many videos is clipping at louder decibels, lower the gain
Thank you! Yea I’m still learning all that stuff. I just picked up the dji lav mics so I think I should get more control with those
Is it possible to do an entire car with only this one tool without a huge loss in productivity? I am on a budget so 1 tool is all I can afford, and if you are wondering why flex and not grios garage or something cheaper, I want it to last and have good resale value!
If you can only do one polisher I would recommend a normal 5” pad and a 15mm throw. To polish a whole car with a smaller polisher like this would take forever
Maybe it should come with an extension and a 2" plate for the price but you can get them at Detail Division. The ability to change out plates quickly far outweighs the switch issue imo.
The quick change is amazing! And yea I’m sure you’d get used to the switch.
Do you use me pink soap from chemical guys or 3D
For my inexpensive soaps for lubrication (I’ll clay while I wash) I like me pink or meguiars gold class
If you have other Flex cordless polishers they all use the same charger no matter if it’s 18v or 12v.
Awesome, that charger is great!! I’m a dewalt guy with most of my power tools and I really wish they had something like that
For that type of money it should have accessories and a 2 inch backing plate!
Boo ya!
Maxshine is Spta??😂
Not much of a comparison in my opinion. How do they compare power wise, runtime, charge time….I’ve used the PXE and it’s got loads of power, you just have to learn how to use it, much like and DA polisher. I do agree that switch is weird, but you get used to it.
Just from feel they all feel similar in power. At full power they don’t big down but at lower speeds they will. But like you said you just have to learn how to work with them.
Dang Luke must be paying you CZcams detailing channels hella money to promote is courses.
I wish haha. I am just helping to spread the word for his free event. I know he has courses as well but that’s not what I’m helping to promote. I constantly get questions about how to get more customers, how to price, etc… so having something like Luke is doing helps everyone out. It won’t be all inclusive as I’m sure he saves that his courses but there should be enough valuable free info that can really help people get going.
