Listening to your family speaking in Bulgarien is making my kind of nostalgic for the time when my family sang in Ukrainian. Our languages are so similar. My folks are gone and I miss them very much! My Austrian mother-in-law used to make us "palatschinken," which seems to be the exact same type of crepes/pancakes you were eating. As toppings, she used chocolate and ground nuts. Many happy memories.

Can you share the pancake recipe .They look just like the pancakes my grandmother would make. She was from Poland , they were filled with jelly. But no one knows the recipe.
Hello there, their pancakes look amazing, I agree! I may be able to help you with the Polish recipe. In Poland, these are called naleśniki, and there are many recipes online.
I recommend the one from the blog Kwestia Smaku: Basically, you need 250 ml of plain wheat flour (not raising), 2 eggs, 250 ml of milk, 190 ml of water (sparkling is fine), a pinch of salt, and 45 ml of butter or vegetable oil (in Poland, sunflower and canola are popular). Whisk everything together apart from butter/oil (you can use your mixer too), then you either add melted butter/oil and mix again or use those to grease your pan each time. That’s it!
A few tips. Wait at least 30 minutes before you start frying your dough. You may need to add some more milk or water after that time. Don’t get discouraged, the first pancake never looks good, just carry on with the next one. Owners of designated crepes pan can skip the oil but it adds to flavour and texture, so it’s a personal preference. It takes a few tries to figure out your pan, cooker, and the dough. You can swap milk for some plant alternative, such as soy. Polish vegans also swap eggs for some veggie or banana puree, or flaxseed. Jelly, or rather jam (in Polish, dżem) goes well with naleśniki, I think I see strawberry or maybe raspberry most often but I guess, that depends on the household.
Naleśniki are popular in Poland and from my experience, grandmas don’t really follow any recipe, so feel free to experiment. I hope you’ll be able to recreate the taste you remember. Good luck!

We’re keeping some of the clothes, but I bought a bunch of bundles of second hand baby clothes before I realized how quickly they grow - definitely don’t need so many 🙈
