Love the way those Remo Pinstripe heads sound. I started on a Pearl Export. Great starter kit. They sound really good.

My first kit was a pearl export 2005 series in red wine metallic and black hardware.
A killer set with wooden kick drum hoops and a quite good tom mounting system. Let me tell you these exports are bullet proof and have an amazing sound even though they're budget drums
I just ordered a set similar to that mut instead of blue it's chrome I can't wait to seethe outcome of mine
those snares sound great with genera dry head and cranked tight.
I scored same kit, only black. In attic for 10 yrs...I magic erased the heads, scrubbed everything....Stands still had tags on them...a steal for $100

Got a MLX with the same sort of lugs, love those lugs but they are starting to break on my 12” :(
This Export kit is immaculate! Late 80's or early 90's??
I think it must be over 20 years old. Or were the long lugs build in in another time?

FAST WORKER...YOU'RE RIGHT, ITS MORE WORK BUT THE ONLY WAY TO GET EM CLEAN AND SHINY IS W/O THE HEADS. I HAVE TWO EXPORT SETS, ONE BURGUNDY LACQUER OVER WOOD, WITH NATURAL HOOPS, ONE KIND OF AN UNEVENLY FADED GOLD SET WITH CHROME HOOPS,I MAINLY BOUGHT THE SECOND SET FOR THE HARDWARE;SP-SOUND PERCUSSION, NEVER SAW THAT BRAND, MUST HAVE BEEN FROM THE LATE 70'S OR 80'S,SOLID STANDS.I LIKE THOSE BIG DRUMS, DON'T GET THESE MODERN KITS-8-10-12 TOMS?,I CAN'T EVEN HIT AN 8!!! How much would a rewrap costs
I’m not entirely sure honestly. I’ve never tried to re-wrap a set. There are a lot of reputable companies out there you can purchase wraps from though.
Does anyone know what wood they used to make them for export?
It depends on the generation, but typically, poplar wood is what you would see.

@@matpearl I’m not sure where what woods were used exactly, but I would anticipate that most 90s are going to be polar. There were some early ones in the 80s that were maple I believe. The one I demoed here is poplar.
No estoy seguro,pero ví en otro vídeo qué era "caoba asiática " en las export de finales de los 80' y principios de los 90' !
El problema fue que en los 80 era un solo lug tanto arriba como abajo y se empezaron a quebrar! Entonces entrando los 90' cambiaron los lugs igual de largo pero dividido en 3 partes lug arriba, barra en medio y lug abajo!
Y le quitaron una hoja de caoba y le pusieron una de abedul!

I LOVE the old school 12,13,16,22 configurations & HATE the new 10,12,16 tom configuration....Drum manufacturers need to bring back the old school 12,13,16,22 configuration again.....The compression used on this video is killing the TRUE volume/tone of the drums giving an almost muted or muffled effect.....

I seen Angry Anderson in Orange playing with a local band that used a 70s Pearl Export a few years back. It was embarrassing. The new versions are just as bad.
