I could have saved so much freakin' time tuning my kit had I watched this years ago. By far the simplest and most effective method I've seen and I've been a percussionist for half my life.
I wish I had a job just setting up drums! I love assembling drum hardware!!!
I'm an "Old School" pro-tech, touring roadie. Just got the EXX 8pc for my 15y/o son who grew up on my 7pc Mapex Custom Fusion. "I bow to you sir" for being so "Clear and Informative" in your presentation. This set, with or without the 3pc add on, is "Tonally Phenominal" for intermediate to advanced. You saved me a lot of time walking him through set up.
May I add a suggestion? Not sure if Pearl does this with heads before seating, "Crack the glue"? Our's were pretty tight. "Gently walk two thumbs around edges like your snapping a pencil" and break up the glue before seating. We did this with our skins after initial set up wasnt getting "Good reverb". Man what a difference.
Very useful. I’m not a drummer but I’ve bought one of these kits for the backline at our diy punk gigs. Got my kit setup nice n easy after watching this video once.
Very well explained setting up procedures. Thank you so much.
My thanks to you Adrian. Watched this vid before arrival, and again prior to unpacking and assembling of my new Pearl Export EXX 22" Fusion Plus set. My first drum set, this vid removed any potential unfamiliarity mystery rendering the unpacking, assembly and config a breeze. Kudos to you for a clear, detailed & easy to watch tutorial. Kudos to Pearl (AU?) for commissioning it.
This video helped me out a lot when it came to assembling the Hi-Hat! Thank you very much good sir!!! 😅👏🎉
Mate; appreciate your clear and precise instruction 🥁 🇦🇺
Brilliant video, thanks for making it so clear good job
Having mine delivered tomorrow. This video will help massively. Great build explanation🙂.
Sweet - great video, great drum sounds!
This was really helpful thank u
Thanks a bunch , now I know how to properly tune my kit. Can't wait to see how much better they sound
Corey Walker do they sound better ?? Just wondering
Your Nan yes definitely
See my post for even better tonal quality.
thank you for the great explanation
This will help tremendously. I just found a whole kit a neighbor put out for the trash. It’s in really bad shape like heavy rust on all the chrome and oxidation on all the aluminum and the cymbals were shot. The shells are dirty but look fine. It’ll be a challenge for sure and even decided not to yesterday but had a change of heart this morning and went for it. As long as it sounds good when I’m done if I don’t give up first lol. 😬
The exports tune and sound MUCH better with quality (not remo UT) heads.
Read that prior to buying so not disputing your advice, but for the price point and primary target demographic of Pearl's Export EXX, Remo UTs (still DuPont Mylar) are adequate for newbs like me, are the same e.g. Gretsch Energy Euro, or superior to the PRC generic mylar heads on much of the competition at similar price points. e.g. Yamaha Rydeen Euro, and strike that balance between overall outlay/cost and performance. Besides, the adventure begins.
When these wear out I'm looking forward to enjoying the discovery myself in trying out the various Evans EC2s, G2s, Remo Emperors etc. Not new owner pride, just logic based budget priority triage. Quite an outlay for first drums with the additional accessories I determined I required. Like guitar strings, albeit a more expensive and less frequent one, skins are a still a consumable I know I'll be replacing later.
What an awesome video. Thanks very much! Subscribed
I'm only about five foot seven and I usually sit pretty low... if I set my toms like this I do nothing but hit the rims... I don't set them sideways but a slight angle does help...
Very good job, would love a job like that!
I Just bought the Pearl matte White export, this was so helpfull! Thanks!!
So helpful thank you!
Gracias!!! Thank you
Fue de gran ayuda
When tuning the bottom head of your snare drum, you really want to tune it as tight and high as it’ll go *WITHOUT* breaking any of the tension rods.
Awesome video, cut my build and set up time half I reckon. Cheers
Hi! I bought tension rod and it is not the same with pearl export tension rod. Do u know where can I get exact pearl export tension rod?
Musician of 35+ years here and the drums is my least proficient instrument but as a guitarist/bassist I’ve always asked permission to play the drummers kit when we take a break from rehearsing/jamming etc. And avi also just note that a lot of my close friends throughout my life have been drummers.
I bought this kit for my 11 year old son who has shown interest. Between the instruction booklet and my experience I have most of the kit assembled properly but this video should help with the hi-hat and kick pedal and it has helped confirm that I’m doing a decent job.
As a musician with a good ear, I am most interested in tuning heads. The rack toms arrived and already tuned at f# (top and bottom head) and c# (top and bottom head) respectively. They came very accurately tuned all around.
I’m wondering what I should tune the floor tom to? My inclination is c#. Some videos suggest tuning the bottom head of the floor tom a half step or whole step lower.
Any advice out there?
Love Pearl
did you use any EQ when recording because dang that sounds really good!
Hi, could you please do a tutorial of your drum cover of Hey, Soul Sister by Train? Please, I really need to know what you do at the 2:09 to 2:11 I have been watching that part over and over and that fills sounds pretty awesome, It´s the best cover with brusher ever on youtube, you rock!!
Perfext
Hi adrian
very cheaper than older version of pearl export !
opposite to opposite when tuning a kit drum unless its a Djembe then you go round and round you should know this
Is that exx ??
What kind of mic was used to record?
Audix D6 on the kick drum, Shure SM57 on the snare and a Rode NT2 as an overhead. Cheers. Adrian
Thanks. I've recording in studios with my export and it's always sounded great. At home I have some basic mics. Thanks for the info. Really Appreciate it.
CAN ANYONE UNDERSTAND THIS LIMEY IMPORT ???????
Pleeease send me one of them😓.im in iran and music is dead here.
Warning guitar center employees steal small stuff from new boxed gear. Small things like felt pads or even the extra Tom that was supposed to come with the kit.
DRUMMERS OF TODAY WITH THIER MATCH GRIP CAN NOT HOLD A CANDLE TO THE DRUMMERS OF YESTERDAY WITH THIER CONVENTIONAL GRIP , JUST ASK MR. HUMBLE , BUDDY RICH !!!
ORKY CATHCART dude chill out what’s your problem lmao, there’s plenty of drummers who hold match grip that can play as fast and accurate as buddy...
I have this drumkit in this exacto color, it's the first time I set a drum kit and I'm exhausted
