  • MERRY CHRISTMAS!
    Here is a compilation of pretty much all of my responses of Philadelphia Fire Department Seagrave Engines and Ladders. Now that they are all retired, I wanted to put together a compilation of all of them.

    Great video in tribute to all PFD Seagrave that had served PFD for many years till 2017. Those Seagrave Rigs that I've remembered as far back as I can remember are 1982 Seagrave Rear Mount, 1985 Seagrave Squirts, 1984 Seagrave Pumpers, and 1986 Seagrave Tillers are the ones I've also remembered as well in addition to 1990 Seagrave Tiller, 1991 Seagrave Pumper, and 1993 Seagrave Squirt commonly seen in your videos. All these Seagrave Rigs will always be forever remembered.

      Newburgh was the first department I knew that had a Seagrave when I moved here in 1986.....then they bought 3 1990 seagraves (they only have 1 left) and the 86 was retired in 05

    I remember back in the 1990s when I lived in Wissinoming Engine 52 was a Seagrave pumper with a siren horn like the engine at 0:30. I ived around the Cottage St. & Benner St. area. Also back in the mid 2000s when I lived in Mayfair near Frankford & Unruh the Seagrave Squirt 43 truck was at the fire house on Longshore & State Road. I could tell it was the squirt truck coming by the siren and the engine sound when it was on a call.

    How come the engine at 2:15 with the PA300 siren has the mechanical FS Q converted into a speaker? Were they always this way or were speakers installed where the mechanical siren used to be to address noise complaints? I've never seen a setup like this with exception to the EQ2B speakers Federal Signal sells in this configuration that has the Q grille on it as they typically use the square speakers for those instances although they sell those (the circle ones) as well, but these trucks seem too old to have that considering some have mechanical Q sirens, so do you know if this was a modification? Just curious.
    Oh and by the way, one of these old Seagraves is shown in the Rescue 911 teaser intro before the clips of the episode segments are shown, and I think they did an episode that took place in Philadelphia that features these Seagrave trucks rolling out.

    • @amott919
      @amott919  Před 6 lety +2

      firefreak57 If I remember correctly these (at least the first one or two) were delivered with Qs. But they decided to switch to the PA300. Ive heard it was due to the noise pollution stuff but also heard it was so the truck didnt short out (The tillers had real Qs so not sure on that). But in the end all the 1991 Seagrave Engines for PFD had PA300s except one at the end that got a Whelen 295 series siren which sounded awful.

    • @alexandergrube6437
      @alexandergrube6437 Před 3 lety

      Federal signal built some PA300s to look like Q sirens. They do this with EQ2Bs too. Some of PFD's ALF rigs have EQ2Bs with a Q style design. You can tell the apart because the EQ2Bs are more flush mount while a regular Q sticks out more

    Question. Why the stations have their apparatus doors shut manually? Won't it be quicker if they have automatic doors the guys can shut with a garage door device

    • @amott919

      Most of them are automatic now. But at the time when those clips were filmed, it was a common sight in Philly to manually close the door.
