RnD must love Drillers cause they for sure have the most fun designing his weapons hahaha
Because with driller they have no restraints. Management pretty much gives them a budget and leaves.
Correction: R&D is simply afraid to say no
A couple of things that are missing in this video is that the Sludge Pump provides an INCREDIBLE amount of utility and support against, fast enemies, armor-breakable bugs and Dreadnaughts.
The Sludge Pump DoT slows down AND slowly breaks apart the armor of any bug.
On Cave Missions with Regenarative Bugs, your Sludge Pump DoT stops bugs from recovering hp AND it breaks apart their armor, so even if they do fully recover, it is now much easier to deal with them.
Additionally, while the Cryo Cannon is very powerful against Dreadnaughts, it is only so "on bursts", when you finally are able to freeze them. The Sludge Pump is good at every step of the encounter.
The DoT breaks the armor of the Lacerators/Arbalests and the slow down effect is powerful enough that it makes it feel like you are bullying the Hiveguard and the Glyphid Dreadnaught, as you
sidestep every attack from their rushes. :)
It is also VERY good for keeping the Bulk Detonators from rushing you.
PS: The Sludge Pump actually can stack not one, but TWO DoTs. The direct hi normal/charged shot is the first, and the puddle that breaks from a charged shot is the second. This means you can cover a large area with charged shot goo, and then, when a big chonky enemy comes along, you can fire at it directly for double the effect. :)
Oh, and if you are playing with friends, make sure they have a way to deal fire damage, that will allow them to turn your goo in flaming goo. Thus potentially dealing a third and also very powerful DoT. If not, then run the EPC with Burning Nightmare. ;)
Cannonically the sludge pump was made by bored "maintenence staff"
The fact they showed it to both management and R&D, and both of them said it was a good idea is kinda hard to beleive
After playing with 11222 sludge blast and 21111 blistering necrosis, I can confirm it’s very fun.
Have you tried it with a charge shot dmg Volatile Impact Mixture build?
@@andrewallcaps no
I love Engineer's genuine confusion about R&D's swiftness to make the goop machine
The Sludge Pump is actually based on the Bio Rifle from Unreal Tournament. The Driller was obviously a fan of -2Fort- Facing Worlds.
Isn't 2fort a TF2 map?
@@imoteq pants. Yeah, I meant Facing Worlds. These things happen when you get old.
I remember low grav jumps matches with either sniper, instagib or telefrag matches. Best mp game ever in my opinion. I fking miss that game. The music tracks still hold up today 😂.
@@___ADMy god, talk about getting old.... Facing Worlds felt like a dream when I was 7 :D
This is the weapon that made me like playing Driller. None of the others really clicked for me, but this sure did
Hydrogen ion additive is not giving you another 50% damage or 15% slow. The damage is a flat +0.5 per tick, adding up to a whopping 2-2.5 dps while corrosion already does 8 per tick(10 with t5b). The slow really only gives you a 9.5% increase over the base slow on direct hits, but when stacked with puddles it's only a 5% increase(with t5a this is EVEN LESS impactful, giving 4% more slow on hits and 2% more with the hit+puddle).
Puddles will still do more damage and apply MUCH more slow, so HIA doesn't do much to change the playstyle of the weapon- in fact, it doesn't do much of anything at all. It's better than nothing, but it seriously needs a buff.
volatile impact mixture is the best oc for the weapon in solo. It makes the weapon a Jack of all trades by making the charged shots function like grenades. Disperser compound is the best for team play because of the large area coverage and lifespan.
Sludge Pump Gaming is the only way to play Driller
I agree i always use the sludge pump on my driller with disperser compound
Volatile Impact Mixture actually synergizes really well with blistering necrosis, as the blisters allow the volatile mixture charge shots to multi-hit enemies. Pair with a charge shot AOE damage build, and it can put out some very solid single target damage.
Sludge pump to me at least is easily the most ammo efficient primary weapon, paired with Collette wave cooker with the gamma overclock and I can lost so much longer without resupply. I also sometimes switch the wave cooker with subata with explosive reload for crazy single target damage.
What OC do you use?
@mysentl24ep54 disperser compound or something like that, the one that makes the sludge lasts forever
@@abilawaandamari8366 goo bomber one?
Also making charged shot linear direction
@@mysentl24ep54 no not that one there's another one that does something similar but doesn't turn your sludge into a straight line it's much better for area control
@@abilawaandamari8366that is dispurser
Just finished the assignment for this thing, insane video timing
You are very underrated and very high quality on your videos. I respect you dear sir, ty for being my go-to drg guide youtube channel :)
Ah yes, the destroyer of omen towers and bet-c.
I personally like Volatile Impact mixture a lot, if you take damage up on normal shots you get very good dps and you still kill groups of grunts with 1 charged shot. I don't really like more AoE oriented OCs because Cryo and Flamethrower are just better at it, especially when enemies come from the ceilings, since charged shot puddles don't stick to them for some reason.
Very good tutorial for the sludge pump overstocks. Rock And Stone! 🍺
Mf really put down volatile but praised the shotgun overclock. Volatile deals more direct and has more puddles while if you hit every single projectile from the shotgun on an enemy, you get no puddles.
ROCK AND STONE
Dunno if it was a bug or a feature but the charged shot direct impact on large enemies did a LOT more damage than it says, it was almost always a good idea to use it and pick any upgrades or overclocks that enhanced it.
Perhaps it is working as intended and is indeed supposed to absolutely delete anything hit.
Wish the shotgun didnt have extra projectile speed, you’d be able to shoot it like a volley instead of a blast, much better for area denial IMO
You should keep doing the "blank" is the best gun titles until you get to the sabata. Would be a pretty funny changeup.
I see every driller that isn't a greenbeard use this gun and I agree it's powerful, but as someone who played Farcry (3 and 4 specifically, which both feature flamewthrowers and even a flamethrower based mission each) a lot as a youngster, and had pyro in my #3 spot in TF2 class mains, flamethrowers are just home for me.
But builder classes such as engineer will always be my favorite.
Honestly this is my favorite weapon of driller but haven't had luck unlocking any overclocks
Great video 👍👍👍
you could not have watched it yet silly brains
I agree with video title. I use It and every body hate me untill they see its damage and how usefull is it
The Geneva suggestion surely doesn't apply to bugs
Sludge pump is the only weapon which melts bugs LITERALLY
Meanwhile, one of the weapons he covered isnt an ammo increase at all, and he calls it ammo increase anyways
You want an idea for a crazy weapon
A Web launcher, it shoots webs, they slow down enemies, apply poison and mitigate fall damage
That's basically a Sludge Pump with an extra gimmick.
@@spencereades fair
Very nice intro😂
I’ve actually never used this weapon before since the flamethrower sticky flames just fells like it makes this one useless
despite being 25% of the Excavation Unit ,Drillers commit 90% of violent crimes !
its good weapon...but i hate ammo cost....i allways run out of ammo when im using it...

AKA the average League of Legends player.
AG Mixture is my jam. Ever since the Sludge Pump was introduced it was the OC I was mainly using, even before they buffed it a bit. It may be good for newcomers but it also allows a whole different way of playing Sludge Pump. I simply like it because its the only OC that allows those very long range shots and sniping enemies from the ceiling can be a skill of itself since you have to get used to the travel time. I also like that whenever I see, lets say, few macteras coming behind my teammate and I'm a bit far away I can fire those few shots and possibly save my teammate from taking hit. Very underrated OC in my opinion.
