  • Kicking is very important when swimming freestyle. The better the kick the faster you go. A quick example of how to perform a freestyle kick holding a kickboard.

    Thank you! Just yesterday I thought about the correct freestyle kick.

    Hi Navid! Thank you for the question. First of all, feet should not come out of water. Second, focus on the whole movement in kicking (there are no phases that you should skip). Last, the best way to fix your problem is by doing general drills. Start with proper kicking and one arm drill. Once managed well, continue with slow pace but steady kick. After all, you can try some sprint. We hope these small tips will help. Thanks for watching and good luck!

    Hey I had a question about the flutter kick for freestyle. I've heard about using a two-beat or six-beat kick per stroke cycle when swimming middle to long distance events. Would this 2 or 6 beat kick apply to shorter distance such as a 50 or 100 free?

      It definitely would. However, 2 is more for long distance whereas higher beat is better for sprint.

    I know this is trivial to ask. You said that the heels should come out of water? should not?
    where (on my legs) should I focus on when I do freestyle kick with strokes?
    One problem that I need to resolve, is that when I swim freestyle, my feet come on the surface due to kick itself and also the strokes. I know this may not be very hard to solve, but is there drills to make that ingrained.
    Cause I really need to fix this, especially for sprint.
    Thank you for your great videos.

    I don't know if you can do this, but I noticed you mentioned toes pointing inward... if it's possible to have the camera show the feet from underneathe it would show the position of the toes more clearly.

    The knees bend slightly, if they were "locked" the kick would not be as effective.

    do you use power on the upkick? or just the downkick?

    • @SwimTechniqueTV
      @SwimTechniqueTV  Před 8 lety +2

      +Lau ZK The accent should be made on the downkick. Also, when swimming butterfly make sure the second kick is stronger to support your arms and finish the stroke strong.
