This summer, the epic studio disaster movie returns with an adrenaline-pumping, big-screen thrill ride that puts you in direct contact with one of nature’s most wondrous-and destructive-forces.
From the producers of the Jurassic, Bourne and Indiana Jones series comes Twisters,
a current-day chapter of the 1996 blockbuster, Twister. Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, the Oscar® nominated writer-director of Minari, Twisters stars Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where the Crawdads Sing), Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick) and Anthony Ramos (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts) as equal forces, with opposing motivations, who come together to try to predict, and possibly tame, the immense power of tornadoes.
Edgar-Jones stars as Kate Carter, a former storm chaser haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado during her college years who now studies storm patterns on screens safely in New York City. She is lured back to the open plains by her friend, Javi (Ramos) to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. There, she crosses paths with Tyler Owens (Powell), the charming and reckless social-media superstar who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures with his raucous crew, the more dangerous the better.
As storm season intensifies, terrifying phenomena never seen before are unleashed, and Kate, Tyler, Javi and their crews find themselves squarely in the paths of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma in the fight of their lives.
Twisters features an exciting new cast, including Nope’s Brandon Perea, Golden Globe winner Maura Tierney (Beautiful Boy), Sasha Lane (American Honey), Harry Hadden-Paton (The Crown), David Corenswet (We Own This City), Daryl McCormack (Peaky Blinders), Tunde Adebimpe (Leave the World Behind), Katy O’Brian (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania), Nik Dodani (Atypical), Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) and Paul Scheer (Black Monday).
From Amblin, Twisters is directed by Lee Isaac Chung and is produced by Oscar® nominee Frank Marshall (Jurassic and Indiana Jones franchises) and by Patrick Crowley (Jurassic and Bourne franchises). The screenplay is by Mark L. Smith, writer of the Best Picture nominee The Revenant, from a story by Joseph Kosinski (Oblivion), based on characters created by Michael Crichton & Anne Marie Crichton. Glen Powell already said in an interview that he knows he’s no match for Bill Paxton & that he can never compare himself to, or replace him & sung his praises. Much respect.

From everything I've read, Powell overall is a standup guy.

I live in Portage, MI. Last night we had a few Tornadoe touchdowns in my area which surprisingly my area by Dicks sporting goods did not get hit, The fedex company by Air Zoo totally demolished and it jumps to different areas that are likely to cause power outages and damages.
If you told me that there's a tornado with a "Universal" sign on it flaying around, I wouldn't doubt it for a second. It was only a matter of time before they found a way to monetize bad weather.
Now it all makes sense
One of my worst fears is being in a tornado AT NIGHT when you can't see the scale of it or which way its moving. YESH.
All I know is that at some point in the movie when Glen Powell turns up the radio, I'd better hear Sammy Hagar screaming "SHINE ON, SHINE ON".

I saw the original 5 to 6 times
I literally got choked up and started to tear like crazy when I saw “El Reno” on the water tower. Thank you, Twisters, for acknowledging those people/storm chasers who lost their lives in 2013 🙏

Who cares about El Reno... The grain elevator scene was filmed in Orienta and in the gas station west of Kremlin. That airplane is owned by a cropduster pilot/farmer from Kremlin, so what is your point?

@acatic80 4 storm chasers (including all of the famous twistex team and one amateur storm chaser) lost their lives in an ef3 back in 2013 near el reno, oklahoma with winds over 295mph. the only recorded tornado to ever kill storm chasers. Pretty sure its either a tribute or an alternate scenario as the ef3 didn't actually hit any densely populated areas

I used my Twister VHS to test my room speakers after I hooked my VCR up to my stereo. That THX intro used to rock my room. My parents would be like "TURN THAT DAMN STEREO DOWN". I hope this is good and it would be nice to see where Jo is at in her life.

A surprise to be sure but a welcome one.
We were driving back from Texas the day Bill Paxton died. I was reading about things on the drive & realized there was a Twister Museum a few hours ahead in Oklahoma. We took the exit & headed to it. It turned out it was closed but as we walked around to look in the windows the owner opened the door. She had just done an interview for the local news station & gave us a private tour. She showed us the pinball machine he had gifted to them years later, she talked about how he would throw a football with the locals during downtime & was the nicest person in the entire cast & crew.
The Twister Museum in Wakita. It’s on my bucket list!
@@nilesyensel7516 It was really cool, just everything about it. Such a sad, surreal day because of what happened obviously. The owner giving us a solo personal tour of the place, seeing all the screen used items & letters written from cast, you really should go see it. I know they do events where people show up with copies of the trucks & all that, I'm sure with this movie coming out something will be going on there. If you're not too far for sure go check it out!
I was a kid when they used our farm to park the cast trailers, movie vehicles, catering, etc. I absolutely remember that football. He had that thing all the time. Even threw me a few passes.

you joke but in 1999 oklahoma did have a tornado that started out as three separate tornadoes and combined to become over a mile wide (it was the largest until the el reno, ok one that was 2.5 miles wide)
As long as they honor Bill Paxton and Philip Seymour Hoffman in some way in the movie I will definitely see it.

To be fair, that’s just because it’s the best tornado film made, not because it’s actually a great tornado movie. I love the OG Twister, but saying it wasn’t absolutely ridiculous is delusional lol. It had really good CGI and good actors, other than that it’s just a fun, iconic movie.

As someone who has lived in Tornado Alley all my life, the 1996 film was basically required viewing around here and MANY of the scenes in that film hit home for a lot of us. I can’t tell you how pumped I am for this and it is easily my most anticipated film of the summer by miles!! What else is there to say but:

It’s amazing, Twister (1996) was my first film I saw with my parents when I was only 2 months old… it was loud and chaotic but I sat there, calm and immersed. Definitely think it’s what sparked my love for film and now I’m 28!! Gotta see it with the parents to come full circle😎

Glad to see the Dorthy research plot line is being continued, neat angles on the old amazing movie looks like. Curious none of the vehicles had any window protection for hail. Looks like a good imax movie hope it lives up to trailer.
