  • John Stamos (actor, producer, author of If You Would Have Told Me) breaks down all things Full House, from his extremely close relationship with the late, great Bob Saget, to his struggle to come to terms with his iconic role as “Uncle Jesse.” He opens up about his very public D.U.I. incident and why he finally decided to seek help for his addictions, his issues with not feeling smart enough, his thoughts on his teen idol status, and how he moved through his resentment toward his ex-wife, Rebecca Romijn. John discusses how his parents kept him grounded and motivated, ways he has found his ego has stood in his way, beginning his therapy journey after his dad died, what he loves most about being a father, and his meditation practice. Mayim and John reflect on parenting styles and he details his musical career and performances with the Beach Boys.

    John’s words “Don’t be sad when I die, be happy because I lived” was exactly my own motto when cancer hit me eight years ago, along with “don’t be worried, just accompany me in this new & unknown road” to my family & friends. “We” overcomed cancer together.

    Prediction: Mayim will be the first woman to break the glass ceiling to become a major network evening talk show host, and will kill it. We are ready for something more. Jokes, songs and skits are great but this interview showed us the man. Brava!

      Network TV is not what it used to be. I don't think Mayim would want to host an evening network show. She has much more control and creative direction with this podcast.

    I have always loved John Stamos as an actor. I particularly loved his character on ER. It seems hard for me to believe, but I don't think I've ever seen him interviewed before.

    • @michelleday6876
      @michelleday6876 Před 5 měsíci +14

      I had the same thought for years. Facebook, of all things, helped me to see that so many of the "pretty people" have more relationship ups and downs than I did. Kids from multiple partners. Revolving door of partners. Grandiose expression of love for their partner and then relationship is over. Arrests. Rehab stints. Etc. I thought to myself, "How have I, not a traditionally 'pretty person', been able to find someone who loves me no matter what that I've been with since 2001, and these 'pretty people' can't find someone that loves them half as much?" It's twisted thinking that being pretty means life is good. I think a lot of life comes down to confidence. We assume pretty people are confident in themselves, but that's not a given. The day I found myself (size 18/20) defending a woman, who was complaining that she was now a size 6 instead of a size 2 as she once was, was when I realized we all have our insecurities.

    • @jodirollins

      That’s such an astute observation. I think that consciously and subconsciously we all think that people who look like they have it all together, do. Thank you for making your point and sharing it. It really made me think. And to me that’s the best thing a comment on CZcams can do. Have a great day.

    I literally love how Mayim diversifies all of her podcasts. Everyone she has on, they are all such unique different humans and have so much to offer to us other than the jobs we know them for. Because like us they are humans with human experiences. I love Mayims approach to letting them chat and talk about themselves while also connecting with each one of them about her life aswell. So clever, intelligent, intricate and beautifully thought out. Love Mayim, TBBT, and Blossom. Love how she sticks up for herself no matter what and sticks to her principles. She will be missed on jeopardy! (I only watched we she was on but I have nothing against Ken) Also pointing out how freaking beautiful she is, not just her smarts or brains or the fact she has a PHD!!🎉 But she’s so pretty and attractive (still somehow insecure which seems crazy to me) but I love you Mayim and Thankyou! Happy Holidays!! ❤

    Really enjoy your podcast. Each one is an authentic connection and that can be rare these days IMO. I have been a fan of John Stamos since I was a teenager. I met him on the red carpet in California for the American Music Video Awards in 1985. We were on vacation from Canada and stumbled upon the awards show. There were hundreds of stars there and he was the only one who stopped. I got his
    autograph and then took a picture with him. He kissed me on the cheek as he walked into the building. He made me feel seen. As he was talking in this episode and asking Mayim questions it reminded me of that moment and that feeling. He wanted to see her. Blessings

    38:10 about failure holding back not going all in so that if you do fail you can say you didn’t really give it your all…
    YES! Of course that sounds right!! He was spot on.
    I hear this from my support group members (women going through a break up or divorce).
    This is one of the most common ways people deal with failure in relationships. Or that their partner deals with failure. They hold back. So that they can say I didn’t try as hard or I didn’t give it my all. And yes it is Not what people should do. Thank you for sharing. 🙌✨

    Always enjoyed his acting. Loved the beautiful words he said about the passing of his friend Bob Saget. I have had many friends in AA and NA who were helped enormously and have been clean and sober many years. Not saying that is the only way, just those were some folks that I met. All of the folks I met, did a lot of very very hard work to get clean and sober. Wishing everyone well who is dealing with these issues. I have also lost 5 friends to heroin addiction. So, there are hopeful stories and also very very sad ones.

    38:07 about failure is the most relatable thing I've heard in my life. I have an amazing manager who is trying to help me get over my fear of failure and fear/inability to deal with criticism for a possibility of a promotion in the future; and this just clicked. "If I give it my all and I fail, then I'm a failure." Which my dad found entirely unacceptable, and in response, would criticize and lecture me until I finally went no-contact.
