  • A demonstration on just how few tools are required to do a decent job cleaning a concrete drive way using SH - HYPO - No power washer or expensive tools required.
    ALWAYS EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN USING HYPO AND NEVER MIX WITH OTHER CHEMICALS - IF YOU ARE UN-SURE DON'T DO IT!

    I’m a 57 year old woman and I used sodium hypo. I was dressed like something for breaking bad in my PPE which cost 12 quid for the two of us. 1:4 ratio. Less noise, less damage, less water. Quite easy. Worked with husband. Used snow shovel to protect lawn. Strict caution though on using as it burns and damages. It’s brilliant stuff no more need for blokes wreaking the patio or drive. Made liquid up in a bucket and brushed in. Quite therapeutic.

    Well put together video, unlike some others that faff on for ages. Just so happens that I used this stuff last year on block driveway using the exact same method. Came up a treat. Only difference was I used a pressure washer to rinse it down afterwards and "walk" the crap into an area for disposal. One interesting thing I learnt from this video was that once it had reached its expiry date it only degrades to 10% and is still usable. That's great news as I have around ten litres left over from last year. Thanks. Hope that sneeze wasn't covid!

    • @Darren-Green
      @Darren-Green  Před 3 lety +2

      Like anything, if used incorrectly it will do damage. If you are using it around grass or foliage pre soak the foliage thoroughly, this will prevent the grasses from soaking up more liquid, they wont absorb more than they can handle. Then apply Hypo, hypo will only remain active for about 20 mins before breaking down far enough that it can be rinsed off. Any real power washer (not the Karchers or Black and Deckers you use to wash the car type but commercial grade power washers can destroy the grass a hell of a lot faster than Hypo can. It's all about correct usage regardless of the tool.

      If you're a grown adult (and i'm guessing from the dumbass remark your probably a prepubescent boy trying to be clever) then you can do what you like. I am not your mom nor you consciousness. If it doesn't kill you let us know the long term problems you will face for the rest of your days because I guarantee there will be several, and if it does kill you, i'll catch your obituary in the Darwin Awards.

    Good heavens if that is just 10% Sodium Hypochlorite I won`t want to see a 100% look like.

      Might be but having suffered hay fever on and off for 35 years I am pretty sure it was simply the high pollen count that week. :)

    Bleach does the same job

    • @Darren-Green
      @Darren-Green  Před 3 lety +2

      That's probably because Sodium Hypochlorite is the active ingredient in bleach mate.

      What ratio of bleach to water are you using Dave

    • @Darren-Green
      @Darren-Green  Před 3 lety

      @@franceslombard6751 hypo is either 10 or 15% in strength. Then you dilute that to where you want it to be.
      'Bleach' such as clorox or domestos etc is around 3% strength so once you dilute that even weaker.
      Bleach active ingredient is the Hypo content the rest is surfactants etc.
      In short if you use domestic bleaches instead of hypo you will have to wait a lot longer for it to work.

    It’s too much of a proses. A power washer would of left if Super Clean without Clorox or other chemicals.

      No. A pressure washer will not kill off the microbial spores unless you use steam i.e. water above boiling temp.

    Then it runs into the drain and into a river and poisons everything in sight. That aside it's great stuff..

      At such low dilution and applied by watering can it's inactive after about 7-10 minutes. This is why I laugh when I see people saying 'leave dwell for 30 mins blah blah' Also at the dilution used it has less active ingredient than the Clorox or Domestos type products you use in you home but you still flush those down the drain don't you? 👍😁

    Whats the concentration of sodium hypochlorite

    • @Darren-Green
      @Darren-Green  Před 4 měsíci

      The neat concentration is usually 10% - you can buy 12.5% with a shelf life of 6 months but it slowly deteriorates and settles at 10%
