Which would you chose?
@Gary I paid MSRP for my RS3 in the states. There are still dealers out there that will charge MSRP, you just need to do some research. Doubt you'll find a Honda dealer that won't tack on at least 10K for the Honda. The wait on the RS3, however, is a different story. I got lucky and waited three months for it.
@Gary Stil a lot of change for a Honda hatch, but the more important thing is that you find joy in the car. In the end, that's what really matters.
@Gary Yes, but at least the RS3 has a unique engine that makes it worth it.
@Gary Like you would know from personal experience? Right...
@Gary-td4rzRS3 starts at 60k, type R is 45k sticker. 15k price difference. The audi is much more car than the Type R
I have an FL5 type R! The car drives ridiculously good and it literally does everything well! The gearbox is next level good. Wouldn’t mind adding an Rs3 to the collection though
Couldn't agree more!
Oliver, where did you get the red accents from on your RS3 ? Thanks
From an Audi dealer using the part number - it was over a year ago but I think they were around £250 for all three.
@@TechInTheCar thanks. That’s quite expensive for what they are. Are they easy to fit ?
Yes, you can do it yourself but you need a couple of cheap tools from amazon and patience.
Simple and fast answer. Honda Civic TypeR.
Had 4 new Audi past 9 years and nothing but problems and issues after issues.
Which Audi did you have?
I have the integra type s and RS 3 on order. I’m not sure what I want to choose.
Different versions of 3 & 4 models 🫡
Type r ❤thanks for this
Welcome 😊
8:59 Those cup holders are not bigger or deeper they are just better designed than the european RS3 cupholders. US RS3 cupholders are exactly the same as the type r's.
Does the key fob open the hatch? Mine doesn’t.
For which car?
Honda civic type R
Me Rs3 ,Why haven’t you done more videos with your rs3 ?
I will do. What do you want to see?
6:20 Bingo! 70% of all the sold RS3 8Y are Sportbacks, so 70% of buyers disagree with you. Soft? 😂
On numbers alone the rs3 wins but numbers dont tell the story of a driving experience. Most ppl commenting about numbers & most ppl in general can not bring out the capabilities of the either car fully on the street especially the rs3. Most wont track them .... Rs3 has more straight line power but that gets boring . Most ppl will have way more fun and enjoy the type r\type s integra much more on the street. On a canyon or twisty road that type r will be right with thst rs3. The type r also beats a 2016 cayman s around Nurburgring...thats damn impressive when you dwell on it . Straight line speed is over rated .... How does the car make you feel is the real way to judge .
I agree!
Look up C&D Lightning Lap Every Car Lap times. RS3 wins easy
@@fzr1000981 I'm sure it does . But does it make you smile the same way?
@daboxer181 on the street absolutely, I only miss my manual FD RX-7 on track or mountain road. Shifting is fun but usually just costs you time, and then you have to worry about missed shifts, redline etc
@@fzr1000981 here's the thing . Most ppl don't track their cars , or race on the streets. It's all about is the car fast enough FOR you! Does the car bring you joy ?
I prefer the RS3 over the Civic Type R. I would look funny in a Civic Type R because I'm way over 25 years old. Furthermore, the RS3 is an all around a better car, especially for long highway drives. You shouldn't regret buying the RS3, you made an excellent choice.
Might surprise you but the avg age of the fl5 drivers are late 30s to mid 40s.
@@justinhale2160 That doesn't surprise me since most 25 year olds probably can't afford this car. I still think the RS3 styling is more mature.
@@joecamaro It's funny you mention age, because there is something to be said about a car's design and the inherent maturity it has. When I see a Civic of any kind, I expect an early 20's kid to step out. I'm picking up my RS3 in 2-3 months depending on the delivery day, and it the mature, aggressive-yet-restrained look it has feels appropriate for being 30 and keeping this car some time without also looking I'm going through an early mid-life crisis. I wanted a fun car that's also in many ways practical, looks great without being over the top, and had the best price for everything I wanted.
@@redoctober67 30 year old, your still pretty young. As an older guy, don't let what people think affect your choices, buy what you like.
Civic type r all day. Hot hatches are meant to be great everyday cars, first and foremost. The civic is a better daily. The civic is more special in my opinion, both to look at and to drive. It's a lot cheaper, too. It's not even close in my opinion.
Well said!
Type R more special…..😂😂😂
It's not even close as you disappear in my rearview mirror!
@@carlotlife5013 have you driven them? If you have limited driving skill, then yes, stay in your RS3 😂
@@fzr1000981 in which car? You haven’t really said much 😂
RS3 for me. Looks like you will be visiting the Honda dealer soon then. That red interior …… ?? really and with the boy racer spoiler.
As someone over the age of 25 with a job I can’t possibly be seen driving into work with a blue car with a red interior with a massive spoiler in the back 😂😂😂
@@bend386 as a 60yr old, I would look silly in the Type R. In the RS3, I don’t think I look out of place
when you get flat bottom 😅😅😅😅
you'll never touch a type r for msrp....ever. So the price is a lot closer then you make it seem.
Unfortunately the RS3 will also be more expensive that MRSP - so I think the difference will be similar.
You're right, Audi charges lots of money for stuff the Honda gives you for nothing. The reason the Honda costs a premium is that it is in huge demand - for a very good reason.
@@dblue7711 Also, honda is more realiable.
10:53 🤣😂🤣 What are you talking about? In the RS3 you get the following materials on the interior: leather, carbon fiber, plastic, full aluminum (shifter pedals!)(not counting the pedal box, the pedals are not full aluminum parts, as in the type r).
vs
the Type R interior: you get plastic, thats it! (Sorry to inform you, alcantara is basically plastic.)
First of all - it isn’t real carbon fibre. If you replace the vents you will see that. Second of all considering the cost difference it should be real and there should be no plastic at all. Alcantara is suede.
1. The seats in the type r are faux suede = POLYester = PET= Plastic waterbottles!
2. So audi is charging customers 800€ for a fake carbon dashboard trim piece? All these 3rd party carbon manufacturers are making carbon fiber complementary shifter trim pieces for buyers that spent 800$, turns out the nothing is carbon. Because the tech said so! Do you know what carbon is?😂
@@TechInTheCarou can get real Carbon for the rs3. The default iterieur spec is the fake looking plastic Carbon. But you are right. The rs3 was big step backwards in qualtiy for me, who is coming from a tt
9:12 the design of the doorcards already look dated, for a car that came out this year thats poor design.
I have had a Type R its quality is ok but the car is let down by the ride quality and the manual gearbox. I think the interior build quality on my RS3 is poor but the car's performance is class leading.
The interior in the civic is cheap as shit
how can the downside be the manual gearbox? Real petrolheads will see that as a deal-maker. Furthermore, it has one of the best gearshifts in the game, period.
A manual gearbox is the only thing I can think of that would make my RS3 better (and slower)!
@@mharro88 Its absolutely not. The new one is beautifully made of high quality materials. Heater controls are jewel like, vents beautiful, seats the best in the business, titanium weighted gear-knob a work of art.
@@dblue7711 it's not metal lol. It's made to feel like it. Still feels cheap all round to me. No cooled or heated seats or heated steering wheel like the Elantra n
RS3 is in a different class. Clearly the RS3. Personally I'd take the Elantra N. Same performance as the type R for less and more comfortable
Interesting, that model is not available in Europe although there is the i30N.
You're clearly delusional. the rs3 is an overweight overly complex automatic only car. yawn. and the elantra loses every single comparison to the type R. It's also a disposable Hyundai which has a poor resale value and spotty reliability record.
The Elantra and type r are no where near the same performance wise. I guess you you do 0-60 everywhere and race and drive in straight lines. The type r would leave both the rs3 and the Elantra on any route with corners or track
You're right , the Honda completely outclasses the RS3. Its a truly great car, the Audi is at best , not quite as hopeless as previous generations. The Elantra is excellent, better than the RS3 I reckon but its no match for the Type R.
@@ThrottleBodyYou're a funny guy! JDM FANBOY!
I've had both jap cars don't even compare to the Germans rs3 would be long gone.
no
@@josedusol yes type r is shit off the line
