will this work for a 2000 dodge durango slt and if so, where is the RKE board located at ? Excellent video btw.
I have a Jeep Liberty in the dashboard is the key with the line going through it it won't start how do I get rid of the key relying through it

I have the fancy overhead console on my xj...with the temperature and glasses holder and stuff....where would mine be located?
It would still be located up there, there should be 3 plugs going up to that console. The one with the most amount of wires will lead directly to the rke board, closer to the back of the console.
I have a 2000 xj classic and it seems to have the board on my overhead console. Can I just buy the remotes on Amazon and program it to get it to work?
The problem with buying just the remote fobs is that they would need programming from the dealer. I would check your local dealer first to see if they are able to do it before buying new fobs.
Do you know if I could get the rke board off a grand cherokee? If they're compatible?
I do not think so but I could be wrong. I think Grand Cherokees use a body module as the Central Computer unlike the XJ that has individual components that are more modular.
Great video! Followed your video and was able to get mine working! Except, I need new replacmeent screws to hold my circuit board down. Do you know what the dimensions for the screw is? I would be greatly thankful.

The guy I got my Jeep from says that my jeep won't or can't be programmed would this by pass that?
It would because you are replacing the board too and the new fobs should be programmed to it

Where did you get that little control module??
@@jordanlawson9974 I bought it off of a seller on eBay that had the board and fobs with it. But the same thing can be attempted if you were to find some fobs at a junkyard with the vehicle, then you just need to pull the rke board out of the vehicle along with the fobs.
Is there a way to reprogram an old key fob from my WJ to my current vehicle they are identical models
You either need a expensive tool to do so or a lock smith or dealer should be able to reprogram for you.
How do you program the fob if you are just buying a fob to link up with the jeep if you already have the keyless board.
To program a new fob to the RKE board you will have to go to the dealership to have it done. it requires a special scan tool.

I have original fob but not working and I put new batteries in the fob
I have a 2000 jeep grang cherokee and i bought new key fabs off ebay. They did not work. so if i buy this board the board does not need programming for the new fabs.
Basically the seller I got mine from on ebay was selling fobs and a board already programmed together so the boards could easily be swapped and then you would have working fobs. You can do they same thing for example if you came across a jeep with working fobs at a junk yard.

It should not. If you have a chipped key, the module will be located in the steering column.
i have a 02 jeep liberty does this work for this model as well ?
If you are able to find a seller or another vehicle with the board and fobs they can swap to any of the same model vehicle.

I do not think they are compatible because they are 2 different generations of the gc and 1995 is back in the obd 1 system.
Woulda 97 mey fob transmiter work on a 96
I don't believe so, 97 and up they changed the whole electrical system on the Jeep, though I could be wrong, might be worth a shot
Some do but some don’t. 96 was a weird year. The electrical parts were kind of “Frankensteined” between what they were in 95 and what they would become in 97. There’s kind of a mix between the 2, and could be different depending on which month it came off the assembly line

I have a 2000 xj with keyless entry but they stopped working. I replaced the batteries but still no luck. Do you know of any solution?
Either the board in the fob went bad or the RKE board in the headliner is bad. You might have to do this swap from a parted out jeep.

I don't believe the seller has them up anymore. But if you were able to find both the board and the fob at a junkyard you could do this swap.
What about grandcherokees?
It would probably work the same way but you need to get a board from a zj then.
Or you can go the junk yard and get it for free. Use the $100 for parts

Same spot but removing the console is different.

Or just buy a FOB of eBay or Amazon and just program it yourself... That would be a much easier solution
For the XJ they are not self programming so you would have to still take it in
I did buy the fobs and programmer on ebay and it worked for my 2003 jeep but not for my 2000 jeep still do not know why. both fobs work for my 2003 jeep so it is not a problem with the fobs so I am going to try and take a circuit board out of another 2003 jeep and put it in my 200 and see if that works. That's if they are compatible..

My fob would lock my doors or the inside lock allso didn't lock so I got a new pass lock an window switch an the inside locks work now but fob doesn't work an I put new battery's in it an the fob still doesn't lock my door but the push locks inside do now
