About Royal Blood
Brighton duo Royal Blood comprising drummer Ben Thatcher and bassist/vocalist Mike Kerr formed at the beginning of 2013. They quickly made their presence known, with pounding drums and heavily distorted bass guitar defining characteristics of their ferocious blues-rock sound. The band gained many plaudits early in their career, touring with the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Iggy Pop and Foo Fighters, before going on to win Best British Group at the Brits in 2015 receiving their trophy from their musical hero and admirer Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page.
Their catalogue boasts the Mercury Prize nominated self-titled debut album released in 2014 that spawned hits such as "Out of the Black, "Little Monster:, "Come On Over" and "Figure it Out", as well as their second successive UK number one album "How Did We Get So Dark?" released in 2017 which featured "Lights Out" and "I Only Lie When I Love You".

This and limbo are perfect examples of how great their new style works out. They successfully pulled it off to incorporate this dance-ish sound and I love it.

this song's lyrics are actually oddly positive for royal blood's typical style;
most of it is "you were so apathetic to my existence that I got on a train to run away to try and make you care"

i think this album succeeds where Simulation Theory failed: consistency in theme and style. When you make something so stylistic and precisely focused in one aesthetic area, as both Muse and Royal Blood wanted to do, you need to make something consistent that fits that style, a concept album of sort. Simulation Theory, however, felt disjointed, too many tracks felt out of place, like they didn't fit with others or just with that aesthetic overall. In Typhoons, every track, from the best to the most middle of the road, fits that theme and aesthetic and therefore made the album feel cohesive.
@@mygetawayart true for example there was a song called “King” that was originally going to be on this album but they decided it didn’t fit with the other songs, which is true the style is still them but not what this album was going for

Songs like Propaganda, Break it to Me, Something Human and Get Up and Fight make no sense when you take in consideration the themes, the melodies and the aesthetic of Simulation Theory. I made my own playlist using the few songs that match, plus some of the alternate versions, but still, that album is a mix if two very different ideas, they should've made something coherent with Algorithm, The Dark Side, The Void, Pray and the STT interstitials like Behold The Glove.
