The coastline did not fall into the ocean. The way the island is made larger is by lava flowing out into the ocean, gets enough there, it goes down, then more comes on top of that - until it stays above the water. Please don't put up false headlines!

puffalump76 - My error!! Sorry, didn't see the date of this video until after putting that comment in. Way different things in 2013-4, than now in 2018. Thanks for catching that!

ladykiri42 what are you apologising for, that seemed like recently cooled lava that couldn't sustain the pressure of oncoming molten lava hence the drop

Go read up on the Hilina slump, the lava builds up until there is nothing to support it, then the whole mess slides down to the ocean floor, as the lava continues to build up, the clock starts ticking till the next slump, 20,000 years from now. But with the never ending lava flow of late, I'm not so sure it won't happen sooner, There is a video that tells all the things like tidal waves that will happen when part of the Big Island slides off in the ocean.

Hope they aren't as close as it seems. Not foolish taking kids that close in light of the recent cliff collapse?

I guess we were a bit to close when the cliff collapsed, but I hope the tour company and the captain has taken that experience with them. Especially in light of recent events.

This is from Isaac Angel of Ormet Technologies of Nevada a shell, no office, for fracking with his geothermal plant causing the slip to split +6 feet wide and fissure 8 to go ballistic

You have more odds being the clown than me - do some research - Kiluea has the potential to destroy Hawaiii - stick you head in your butt and wait

records quakes - up to 3,000 a day. - THERE IS A SPREAD OF QUAKES 15 MILES OUT FROM KILUEA - THE ISLAND IS SHIFTING IT APPEARS. THIS IS SERIOUS AND THESE LOCALS TELL ME SHUT UP. A LARGE PORTION OF THE MAGMA CHAMBER HAS DRAINED. LATEST USGS UPDATE - FISSURE 8 IS NOT A PERMINENT CONE FEATURE. LAVA IS FLOWING FAST - 30MPH - YOU CAN SURF IT. CRATER/CAULDERA HAS GROWN ABOUT 3X AND STILL GRWING. WE CALL IT THE "COLLAPSING CRATE" WITH 4.0-5.0 QUAKES IN THE CXRATER WHICH ARE CAUSED BY COLLAPSES. THE RADIUS AROUND KILUEA/20 MILES/ IS MOVING-SHIFTING

Move out of your moms basement and get a job you blow hole you have no understanding of the process or the limitations of it . If people chose to live on a volcano that’s their choice there’s plenty of actual science of what a volcano can do. Just a final note it’s very unlikely that you would Frac a formation ( volcanic basalt) and hope to achieve any ROI the material is already a sponge. Keep driving that clown car it suits you
