And of course that “accidentally” Pao posts on their social media a shameful post about the refs and taking a cynical advantage about the war+ mention that Paos is 116 years old which is more than some states (clearly against Israel) I don’t know how to tell them politely that the kingdom of Israel and judea are much more older than the club trying to erase just because of their lost the Jewish history about this land. My take is, if the player throws the ball in the genneral direction of the basket and scores, count it +1 ft, if he misses, don't give 3 ft's for such nonsense. This is not something new, and it is always dangerous and very convenient to isolate 1-2 calls out of 40 minutes, but maybe this time it will spark the necessary change

    this is bad for the sport, we more or less got the same thing in both situations, the player stopped dribbling the ball is gathered and he is about to get into his move (shoot or drive) yet on one occasion its cool and its called continuation and on the other occasion we wanna call it a "not in his shooting motion"

    In my view the foul reviewed here is indeed the wrong call as Baldwin is shooting a split second after the contact is initiated, in the Sloukas foul Baldwin anticipates the incoming foul earlier and is clearly already in a shooting motion. Instead of whining, Ataman should have used a review, you can't really blame the refs for misjudging something that is so borderline in terms of what happened when. Especially when shot clock was running out, so ot was actually logical for Baldwin to shoot. And in any way doesn't justify Ataman's rants and later the outrageous publication from the management, it's not like the refs were inconsistent or didn't do mistakes that went against Maccabi

These got highlighted because its the playoffs and the pao management has some issues containing emotions. all teams have been there, they are not special and their ridiculous claims that they should be respected because the club exists 116 years is the root of the problem. the game should be equally officiated whether the club was built yesterday or 1000 years ago.

    So first the best angle is not the ref who is clearly next to the play but the one on the other side of the court?
    Secondly, Baldwin after the screen didn't dribble and he went straight to 1-2 step with his hand beneath the basketball entering on a shooting pose and on the foul he throwed the ball so that's clearly a Shooting foul
    About the half court foul there's no much to say..even the refs looked the replay and instantly came in conclusion.. couldn't be more obvious of a shooting foul..yes its a dumb call and not the ones people like but when all season you call that for Mike James, Scottie Wilbekin etc. you can't be blind on yesterday's game
    I don't know who that bald guy is tbh (no offence) but for his reason (maybe political i dont know) he seems to hate Maccabi if he thinks that refs gave them the match..there was so many missed calls against Maccabi in the whole game

    First shooting foul is correct. You can clearly see wade's right hand beneath the ball as kostas hits him, therfore wade starts his shooting motion. Absolutely the correct call and a shooting foul. Maybe the right thing to do is teaching bigmen to be smarter defenders instead of whining all the time.
    On a personal note, I've never seen a ball club that cries and whine as much as Pana's official management, ownership and fanbase.

    • @YoavNesher1

      As for the second foul, wade picks up his dribble clearly before the contact with sloukas. I know these kind of shooting fouls are dumb, and "running" the game, but they're not the attackers foult, maybe stop committing these unsportsmanlike fouls to stop the transition offense and let the offensive team play, we all know why Sloukas made the decision to foul and it's his foult. PLAY BETTER DEFENSE WITHOUT FOULING.

      @@NK-dj7no why tho? you are committing into an extremely stupid foul because you are lazy or not smart enough and you get punished.
      its the same thing with the "continuation" calls. we have no idea what the guy that gathered the ball is about to do, he might as well be looking for a pass, but the moment the contact is made he is going for the layup/floater/shot whatever to get to the charity stripe.
      its quite literally the same thing.

    • @vasilisbardakos4540
      @vasilisbardakos4540 Před 15 dny +3

      Act of shooting has nothing to do about the clock or logic. In order to be given a foul in the act of shooting (thus free throws), first you need to finish the act of dribbling (ie gather the ball or get the steps) and during the action you should point in one way or another to the basket (ie show that you were not going for a pass).
      This particular foul is not considered to be during the act of shooting because Wade gathered the ball some milliseconds after the foul was committed.
      PS1 Whoever says it was obvious in real time, they are just biased or have no clue about the rules
      PS2 It seems it is in Antetokoumpo genies to give free fouls 😅
      PS3 As the coach reminded, even if the foul was not given, they would have gotten 2 free throws anyway!

  • @DaredeviIGR
    @DaredeviIGR Před 15 dny +2

    The reason Pana is especially eager to call out refs on all levels is because there is beef with the league. Back in the final of 2009 and the consecutive wrong calls in favor of CSKA that helped bring them back from -20, Pana won the final and the then president threw a bunch of paper money to the face of the Euroleague president/representative. The story continued some years later (2012) in the semi-finals where Pana was objectively crucified by the refs and lost to CSKA to the point that most of us were FEROCIOUSLY CELEBRATING the winner of Printezis (Olympiacos) a day later. That is historical to say the least.
    All this, augmented by our lunatic president who doesn't take long to snap has caused a serious beef with Euroleague over the years that is definitely not a 'conspiracy theory'. There was actual hatred between the two sides (mostly Bertomeu vs Pana), to the point we essentially started building the roster right after he left.
    Most Pana fans agree that it wasn't refereeing that cost us the game yesterday. There were a couple of very bad calls, but it was our mistakes. The outbreak is mostly politics and an extension of Maccabi's win early in the season, which has to be the worst refereed game of the season. In the last 2 minutes, Pana was denied possession 4-5 times (opposite calls) and in the equalizing backet after the missed free throw there is a foul on Mitoglu as well as violation from Maccabi player who stepped inside the paint before the FT was shot.
    So to summarize, the objectively wrong cry about yesterday's refereeing is mostly about other things. We are also the black sheep of the bunch. I doubt any other team has had this many trophy wins and had a beef with the organization this much.

    • @reignmans
      @reignmans Před 15 dny

      i got my reservations about that man, cuz the amount of free throws pana shot during the season alongside the fouls drawn.... draws a completely different picture.

    • @DaredeviIGR
      @DaredeviIGR Před 15 dny

      @@reignmans A peculiarity is that Pana has a unique % of FT granted to their centers and many times the opposing side chooses to commit those fouls cause Kostas and Balcerowski are horrible and Lessor is mediocre.
      Lessor also was amongst the top winners of fouls last year in Partizan so its harder to argue that he gets these fouls just because he plays for Pana.

    • @reignmans
      @reignmans Před 15 dny

      @@DaredeviIGR I'd argue that playing for Željko has the same effect. Partizan is also up there in these categories since he joined their ranks.
      Lesort is getting rewarded multiple ticky tack fouls and you know it (you don't have to admit it, its perfectly fine not to)
      The only other player having such egregious (non)whistle in his favor that i can recall is Mustapha Fall, but for other reasons (hooking and elbowing)

    • @DaredeviIGR
      @DaredeviIGR Před 15 dny

      @@reignmans No, I agree he does get some easy fouls, but Lessor's case is admittedly a hard one for refs. He moves his body a lot as if it's a gymnastics class. The defender is also easily affected by this and feels he has to follow the movement. I do not know whether he aims for it or its just his style, but the way he moves his body is definitely helping him earn fouls. Once the ref sees a clear foul, the next time they are more likely to give it, that's what I think.
      Although he gets a lot of calls in his favor, he is also denied some because the ref might see him struggling and although a foul is committed it is beyond their 'usual fouls' and defaults on not giving it. Overall he is definitely in the positives.
      I can't count the times I was annoyed by how he moves around making me think he is going to airball it.
