(HARDCORE) - improve on shortcomings / make up for flaws / own up to mistakes

    (ENG)
It's OK to make mistakes as long as you learn something after each one. If you think about it, that's actually how you become better at something and maybe even perfect, if there is such a thing. Personally, I really admire people who openly face their own flaws and shortcomings and improve on them. In fact, I can't stand someone who can't own up to his or her own mistakes. I mean, even when someone does something bad. If the person owns up to something bad that they've done and makes up for it, that is, in some ways, even a bigger success story, don't you think?

we tend to think of owning up to our mistakes as nothing special, but it is some skills that everybody else needs but hard to come by. i really look up to those who casually open up setbacks they went through and shortcomings that they are working on.

A: Everybody makes mistakes but very few admit to it. Most people refuse to own up to bad things they have done.
B: Yeah, that's a shame. Because if you ignore it, you will keep making the same mistake over and over again.
A: Whereas if you recognize your own flaws and shortcomings, you will want to do something about them.
B: Exactly! That's how we improve ourselves and become better people.

It's okay to make mistakes as long as you're willing to learn and get them. If you think about it, everyone used to be a beginner and that's actually how you become a skilled one and maybe even a master, if there's such a thing. Personally, i admire people who never give up even after they faced their own flaws and shortcomings and eventually they've improved on them. In fact, I can't stand someone who disrespect people who make mistakes. Even if someone does something bad, that doesn't mean that they are unskilled. They can own up to somethin bad that they've done and make up for it. That is, in some ways, one of the way to go to the next step/level.

If someone is afraid of making mistakes, you can tell like this.
'It's okay to make mistakes. You can learn things from them.
Why doesn't she own up to her mistakes? I can't believe she is their boss.
A: I think she is young but I really admire her.
B: Really? What make you think like that?
A: She openly faces her own flaws and shortcomings. And even she improves on them.
A: He was really mad at what you did. And he already made up his mind that he wouldn't help us anymore.
B: Are you serious? No way.. I'm so sorry.. That's all my fault. I'll make up for that somehow.

I have two children and they easily make mistakes, but it is okay because they learn something after each one. They didn't use to own up to their mistakes because they felt so guilty when they had to face their own flaws and shortcomings. I've tried having them make up for it and improve on them. I'm really happy now every time when I see that they are trying to face their own flaws and improve on them.

To exaggerate a bit, as a safety manager, i think it's ok to have some minor accidents as long as workers are not injured or deceased as there might be some lessons' learnt from them, which can for sure help you to prevent further accidents.
If you think about it, that's actually how you become better safety manager and maybe even perfect. There's no perfect in safety perspective though.
Personally, i really admire some construction managers who openly admit their own mistakes and imorove on them not to make the same mistakes which can lead to an accident.
In fact, i can't stand some managers who can't own up to his own mistakes. I mean when an accident occures. You know, if they own up their mistakes and oversight that they've done and actively participate in the accident investigation, that is, in some ways, even a better picture, don't you think?

You may find conflicts disturbing. But I'm telling you. If you try to understand what you and the other person really want, there would be something you can learn after each one. I bet you would improve on them. In order to do that, you're going to have to own up to what you contributed to every conflict. As much as you think you suffer, make up for something that is your part.
