Soldering and assembly of a standard circuit Ceriatone Centura in full. Think of this sort of like painting along with Bob Ross, but with guitar pedals. A work of art called the Centura, specifically... Full end-to-end with every component to assist in building one yourself.
Unintentional ASMR soldering sounds. Clink, clanks, smoke, etc. No spoken words.
Notes:
* Always double check resistor values with a multimeter. I did in this video.
* I edited in a jumper wire assembly that I didn't see until later on in the build.
* I chose Russian D9E "magic" diodes for this build. My other Centura has the diodes that are supplied in the kit. I like variety.
* I originally installed a 1uf capacitor for C17 but then corrected it to 47uF behind the scenes.

I have experience putting together circuit boards that were about a fourth of the size of this one. I did it kind of on an assembly line basis for this company that modified televisions . But I did do the entire board myself and tested them and never had one that failed. Do you think I would be able to do this kind of a build? Also when I was 14 or 15 I did build a Heathkit solid-state guitar amplifier to. So I do have kind of intuition for this sort of thing I guess you would call it.

Curious about where you got the ribbon cable ?
Also, you might find it easier when using the gray hookup wire to give the stripped end a quick twist, and then tin the end with a bit of solder. When you put that through a terminal lug, it’s easier to bend over and crimp on the lug for a good solid physical connection before soldering. 👍🏼

Hey man! What kind of tip do you use for this kind of work?? I’ve got a Weller ST3 chisel tip but I’m wondering if conical is necessary or a finer chisel tip!
I'm using a conical in this video. Either will do the job just fine. Temperature is probably more important so pay attention to not go too hot.
Hi mate. What’s the 1st resistor you use. Is it literally a jumper?? I don’t seem to have that one in my kit Would a plain wire do if it is a jumper?? Thanks in advance for your help.
Michael Ioannis it's indeed a zero ohm resistor. A jumper will indeed also work
So is there a quick and dirty way to see if you have built this right before you power it up? For example if I ran a resistance measurement across the whole circuit using my multi-meter, would that work?

Michael Ioannis pretty straightforward. It helped having a few pedals under my belt before. As you might have saw in the video, I forgot a jumper and a few other things so I've started to walk away once I thought I was done and the come back with a fresh new look to make sure I didn't forget anything. Hope that helps!!

Thanks! You may need to make adjustments at the electronic store based on what is available. You could get most of the components online. I suggest buying the electronics from Ceriatone too since some of the parts is unavailable new. Best of luck!

Hey, Nice work ! What about the BluesBreaker you have next to the Centura pedal ? Is it the original Marshall BluesBreaker MK1 with an other enclosure or a clone ?
Julien Peillon it's a clone using Aion Electronics PCB. Unfortunately I don't have a build video of it but I'll do a walk through if you'd like. I built it to Mk1v1 specs and it's my favorite pedal to date!

Im Building a Ceriatone Klon Kit, my my parts kit came with 2 4k7 resistors for spot R23? Then another 4k7 resistor that says option,on the paperwork and its purple colored.What i dont get is the parts list from the online instructions from Ceriatone show that the kit comes with 1 4k7 resistor,that goes to spot R23 on the board, but the parts list that came with my kit,shows quantity,2 4k7 resistors that go to spot R23? Do i use 2 of them in the same spot? And whats with the purple colored 4k7 that says Option?
Suggestion for soldering temperature? Got a adjustable one.
It's really going to depend on the solder and the iron itself. The solder I used has a melting point of 370 degrees but my adjustable soldering station had to be cranked to ~700 (or at least according to the knob) before it gave a good flow. Start off low and increase the temperature until the solder attaches easily to your iron and no sign of cold solder joints. You should be able to work quickly. Maybe one or two seconds. In the beginning of the video my iron was a little cold so I turned it up to get things going
I don,t want to tell you your bizz man but a little dollop of contact cement will stick those radial caps down and heat doesn,t gum things up.
What are the part numbers for the 10k Alpha PCB pots?
crazybaldheadz I am not exactly sure which ones these are since they came with my kit and I squeezed the legs to PCB mount them. Built a bunch this way with no failures so I believe it's ok
I build this one...and read schematic carefully..but confused about 1 uf polarity near clipping diode..i think that polarity simbol in pcb is wrong, i think in that position ,1 uf positif must be conected with clipping diode.
Does anyone know where to get the correct (or even usable...) "ribbon" cable used in this build? I can't seem to find the stuff anyplace. Thanks!
I have not found 100% the same however you're looking for the following specs:
8 Conductor 2.54mm spacing. You can use more conductors and just peel off until you have 8.
I am actually building mine as we speak, I am trying to figure out how to figure out what value each of the red / film capacitors are? I know the 683k is the 68n, and I am pretty sure the M80 392j is the 390n, but I am having a heck of a time with the others, and there is no "legend" in ANY instructions anywhere. Any help would be great!
I am also confused with the resistors. I have bare pcb with full part list but i'm unsure if i need to use metal or carbon capacitors & how much watt i need to buy.
@@g.m.1672 I actually figured it all out with my Multimeter. It's a tedious process, but way easier than reading the bands on the resistors. As far as the capacitors, there are a mix of Electrolytic and ceramic capacitors, of course pending on where you put them. the 1uF caps are all Electrolytic, as well as the 4.7uF, and the couple 47uF. The rest are ceramic.

What is the purpose of the jumpers? What is their function? Sorry, noob here.
They are to get signal from one place of the board to another. The board has limitations so this is one way around the limitations and keeps costs low

I make guitar effects 20 yaears , Meny people send for my shit from China for
repair. Many pedals are wrong (maybe all) . Resistors are to little voltage 1/4 wat, In Klon is
converter from 9V to 18V and voltage is 18V . Jacks socets are wrong ,
low quality , the potentiometrs are too low quality.
The little weigt box, very hevy footswitch , PCB board is very
sensitive, thin? soldering is impossible , path? on PCB destroy when temperatue is high. Oryginal Klon is high quality, pedal for many years .This ''product''is wrong , works
fail , output to sensitive, max gain is to little , and all components are BAD BAD BAD BAD quality . Good brands ( Gibson , Fulltone , Fender .......) in the near future ,maybe, will by closed?! PEOPLE, LET'S RESPECT for our products, company . Who have little many , are too customers, any pedals sound the same Klon C ( Archer, Soul Food . etc).

I think it's great that he can build that pedal,and yes it's worth it, but only if you enjoy building pedals. The Klon and the whole Dumble thing has sort of been "demystified" of late, and yes you can buy Klon Clones fairly cheaply. I have the J.Rockett Archer and Ikon ,and I got both of them for less than $300 when they first came out and I can't imagine any pedals being better than these gems.
What are you watching this for?? Snide comments just show ignorance. This is a skilled craft. There is satisfaction in getting it done right. And even more skill in trouble shooting if it doesn,t work.
