No clue where this series will go, but I await more!
I really do like this take on the OYW. We never really got to see how the war affected the average person too much, in my memory at least.
The only examples i can think of are war in the pocket and a few episodes of the series that take place during its last months
That and gundam the origin
First off I love what you are doing and I personally believe that you are making the best GBO2 content on CZcams period. Your advice about the GP01 lv4 was spot on BTW! I'm super happy that you are branching out into more creative pursuits. It takes alot of courage to share your art and I'm really invested in watching you grow as an artist. So please keep that in mind when you read the rest of my post. Everything I'm about to write is just my opinion as someone who is a fan of your work and wants to see you succeed.
I have some thoughts. I've seen both episodes and I like where your story is going. The choices to have the prospective Character to start the story in Sydney is awesome. It gives us an opportunity to see what was going on on earth before the colony drop. That being said, because this story breaks from the standard gundam anime format in this was I feel that there is an opportunity to have this be alot more Character driven. I think that this opportunity was missed in episode one.
The characterization of our protagonist's friend feels very surface level. We get names and Physical descriptions but not much else aside from Steve being in the military and and Dillon having powerful intuition. Maggie and Valarie don't really get any Characterization in episode 1 and that's a shame. These are his high school hommies which means that they have some history together. My question is who are these people and what sort of relationship did they have with the protag and how has that changed?did they move on without him and there is some awkwardness there? Are they just happy that he chose to spend time with them instead of being a Hermit? What sort of expectation do they have of him and vice versa? I may not know these people but our main character does and really taking advantage of that prospective will go a long way to making those characters feel 3 dimensional and will provide a much bigger gut punch when the inevitable happens.
Another issue that I have is that I feel like the parts regarding the war being q secret doesn't take into account how technology has changed communication and how it would do the same in the U.C. timeline. That being said the Idea that there would be disbelief about the war reaching earth is a very plausible one and I like that inclusion. There are some other things like the Flat Earther stuff that I would have just cut. From a writing prospective Its U.C. 0079 and the main point of contention of the series is the social and political division between Earthnoids and spacenoids, not whether or now spacenoids even exist. I'm not saying that there wouldn't be these wack jobs just that the inclusion in the story leans a little too heavily on our world's current events rather that those that would be more plausible in The U.C. timeline. This also goes how the professor losing his tenure thing, not a bad inclusion but just needs a little more context.
One of the things that I do really like is the character Samantha. She's a fantastic foil for the main character and the fact that you chose to let her actions tell us what she is like is super effective.
I can't wait to see more and I'm mega excited for the next episode! Sorry is this post was too long lol
Honestly if the Love interest of the Character of this story get together because she escaped Sydney its much better to see than nothing
Honestly somehow 1 or 2 from the original Episode Somehow escaped Sydney would be nice as a closing story for 3
