Previous episode was on 8th February 2000 and featured 4x4s in a group test (Mitsubishi L200, Ford Ranger Double Cab 4x4, Nissan Navara) and the episode after this one was on 22nd February 2000 and featured estates (Audi A4 Avant, BMW 328i Touring, Volvo V70 T5).
@revolume I`ve just had a copyright strike from @2strokesteve on the Lotus Sunbeam Top Gear for some reason, As far as I can make out, he`s just another bloke uploading old VHS`s to CZcams, so I`d love to know what his position is, legally to be able to carry out this action..
I won’t cast shade on the BMW or Audi, but I will be praising the Jaguar. So in any respect, this is a praising of the one model, not detracting from the other two. The Jag is a classic. It’s a classic in looks, drive, temperament, and feel. While you could trace its roots to the E-Type, this was also the first Jaguar to be properly modern. By contrast to the XK8, whose origins date back to the mid 70s, the X308 XJ (as depicted) was the last iteration of the XJ40 chassis. It incorporated a thoroughly modern engine (developed by Jaguar and Cosworth), and a modern gearbox. The interior had electrical systems sourced from Ford making them both readily available and easy to replace. A huge improvement from the 80s Jags. And then there’s the feel - sleek, sophisticated and yet with just a hint of Rock and Roll about it. If you’re looking for a simple status box on wheels, this is not the car for you. If you’re looking for a four door Grand Tourer, you’ve got it. A Jaguar dealer should always ask you: “is it just you and the wife using it, or are the kids going in the back too?” The answer to that question gives you which one to buy - the saloon or the coupe.
I think the Jag might be too, but the plates aren't coming up on the Audi & Jag, so we may never know (as in, nothings coming up at all, so may have been fake plates, or subsequently had private plates fitted)

Penny was a rally driver , it shows
Only thing was, the wheelspin on the Jags 1/4 mile did add about half a second to the time, which, as an XJR owner, irritated me!
