For all you Gen Zers who recently discovered this song… it was inescapable throughout Europe in the spring of 2002. Hit hard then, hits hard now.
For people outside the UK, she was also very popular during Covid with a radio show called "kitchen disco" in which she played happy music broadcast from her kitchen. I love how not only the song is tied to Saltburn but the video as well. She reigned victorious after literally taking down each opponent. That is insane to me. Bad Boots it's more dance, euro and even disco pop, but agree
Bad Boots Not really. Back when this came out, we were wondering why tunes weren't as catchy on the whole as they were back in the '80s etc. Every generation looks back to the classics of the previous era, but at the time those good songs came out they were buried in a ton of dross too. Years later only the gold is remembered.

" Every generation looks back to the classics of the previous era, but at the time those good songs came out they were buried in a ton of dross too. Years later only the gold is remembered."
Sorry, but this is incorrect. It has been scientifically proven, (pop-ular) music of this age is not as good as it was when the Beatles, Madonna, Michael Jackson, David Bowie aso. were at the height of their careers.
I couldn't maintain the cynicism. This is great.
I like how the subtitles describes the applause as "lackluster" it's just so passive aggressively British.

It's crazy that this song was such a huge hit all over the world but not in the US, Americans really slept on this banger.

@@nahuelconstantineyeah i’m aware we aren’t the center of the universe and I’ve never believed as such. But op is acting like Americans deliberately slept on this when it was never even brought to the table 💀 you can’t enjoy something you aren’t aware exists. Plus CZcams and other streaming services weren’t what they are now, back then… we have algorithms now that can push forward other content that matches what you listen to. @@nahuelconstantine and the video was playing all the time in MTV Latin America
The use of GD in the lyrics didn’t help its case for radio play. The US is deeply puritanical and usage of foul language was just not accepted in female pop music.
The ones who used it in their songs, didn’t get to experience the same level of success.

It’s a different story after 2003.
I just had my first prom ever and at the end of the prom a lot of people started to leave and this was the last song but a group of my friends started dancing to the song although prom was about to end, i couldn’t help but join them and then some other people who stayed for thee last song joined in and it felt like we were the only people in the world just jamming out. Prior to this i had not much social interaction outside my house because of strict parents and being with those friends and this song and just dancing was pure ecstasy definitely a song im gonna cry happy tears to later.
awwww, I love that for you, that's so wholesome
If you're English then you will know this gem from back in the day!
The ending with this song is the most perfect combination for an ending like that , saltburn was something unexpected for everyone who just watched it
Such a recognisable voice, hugely underrated singer
You forgot to add porcelain Beauty 💜
Revelation...she was the TRUE Future Nostalgia.
Yeah 😅😊
Were old. My Generation of Millennials is already having Nostalgia
Maybe she was a one hit wonder but that one hit was iconic masterpiece for ages
She wasn't a one hit wonder. She had quite a few top hits back in the day. (In the UK at least)
She's got so many amazing songs! Groovejet (#1 UK Chart in 2000), Get Over You (#3 UK Chart in 2002) etc. and she even released a new album just last year called "Hana"
