Nate, the fugitive does come back, had it happen to me twice. You have a few options when they return: 1) if you have the item you can give it back. 2) If you don't, you say that you don't have it and they will attack. 3) You can keep it and they will attack.
Your welcome and thanks for the vids!

Also in random encounter with those bandits you may find naked bodies of real Imperial soldiers nearby the road. Also sometimes they might be disguised as Stormcloaks. Once I staggered upon bandits already lying dead on the road.

The fugitive that gives you the random item is one of my memorable happenings in Skyrim! It goes like this...
I am one of those hoarders that keep collecting everything "for a rainy day", so at some point I have a difficult time because I am always close to over encumbered: just one more tiny flower will make me drag my feet!
So this was one of those occasions: I was looting some dungeon, got near full-capacity and I was running around in a unexplored part of the map desperately trying to find a village/city to find a store and sell my loot.
I reached a village after avoiding a lot of bandit encounters (I didn't want more loot to collect!) and I saved my game (as i didn't want to get through all that again!).
I looked around trying to see a store and one second after I saved my game heard screams all around me shouting "Dragooon" and people started shooting arrows to a dragon that just landed in a building nearby while soldiers run everywhere. I was right in the middle of a square and the dragon was roaring at the top on a main building looking at my direction. I was still thinking if I wanted to fight a dragon in this situation (I just wanted to sell my stuff and I was not very powerful, OTOH it could be a good occasion to barf a ton of potions, to light my load and try my best with the dragon) when that fugitive appeared, telling me all that stuff about keeping his item and protect him, etc and left.
It was a big heavy war-hammer that left me instantaneously locked to the ground in the middle of the town square and the dragon started breathing fire at me.
Remember my last save was from a few seconds ago!
This was around 8 years ago, never forgot it and it was so stressful it's as real to me as a real-life event!

@@ianwebb8066 😆That's right. And that's what I did, after the first shock of surprise. But then got even more anxious because of course the first thing i tried to get rid of was the big weapon... and i couldn't! It was "locked" as it was a "quest item" and couldn't be dropped. And i didn't want to drop random valuable stuff around as I just wanted to get the heck out of there. Eventually that's what I had to do, but it doesn't matter as the point of all of this was: strange random encounters!

On thing I wished Skyrim had, was more “interactive” or more cinematic deaths for certain events or encounters.
Imagine the old orc, instead of just losing and dying, he would fall into the prone “essential npc” pose and have a few last words before you can finish him off with a final slash or just fall dead.
There are plenty of encounters where I feel like a slightly prolonged death could add a TON of immersion and emotional weight, especially in a short random encounter like that.. as well as certain assassination quests, some of the dungeon bosses, etc. It’s not a hard system to implement, they already have everything in game engine. Just add the essential npc pose, play the line of dialogue and then die or let us finish them. It would be cool if you could choose to spare them too, as a non lethal defeat in a few specific cases.
I just think that mechanic would add a lot to the game imo.

The old orc actually made me sad. My first encounter with him was near whiterun. I didn't want to kill him so I let him be. But I did want to try my luck with some giants. What transpired though was that this being at the beginning of the game back in good old 2011 I had no idea how deadly they were so it turned into a mad dash for survival after running out of arrows and not being to kill either giant after me. But then all of a sudden I heard a battle cry, so I turned around and noticed the orc had challenged them. Since I ran close to the place I encountered him he was aggroed. The brave man managed to kill one of them to my surprise. But already wounded from fighting both of them, the second giant was too much.....Good old man orc.
To complete the story after witnessing that I considered myself a coward if I ran away so I marched towards certain death myself. Though as cool as that sounds I did barely survive.

Then, a minute later when the hunter approached, they all ganged up on him and murdered him to death too. I was invisible through the whole thing, and it was hilarious to watch.

The old Orc is one of my personal favorites. When I did an Orc Nobleman of War, I gave the Orc a good death and laid his body with his weapons and a small shine and told him, "I would sing of his valor and grand fight." His body eventually went away, the stuff got scattered, but as a casual roleplayer my Orc character took time to honor his tribesmen. Bethesda did amazing with the small details in random encounters.

Yeah, I had that one a few times. I knew what they really were off the bat, but whatever. I was actually saved by a Vigiliant of Stendarr once. I got vampirism from someone, and I didn't want to be a vampire on that particular playthrough. And I was far away from any shrines, also I didn't have any Cure Disease potions either. Later, when I learned that all of them were slaughtered by vampires, I ended up joining the Dawnguard, in that guy's honor. But if I was there, I would have said to Isran's face that not all of them were weak or stupid. Their hearts were in the right place, and I would not be standing here today if it weren't for one of them! But on the other hand, I will not let ANYONE, including you Isran, to harm my bestie Serana. I destroy EVIL vampires, like Harkon, considerable difference!
