@@benjamintaylor5025 Well, he *is* kind of a very depressed and lonely character (on the inside!) who in turn acts as if he's hardened off against influences that might make him show any truly empathetic emotions. But, being the proper manager he is, he's also shown to be unstable, choleric, destructive, dismissive, at least ignorant to how social interactions can be beneficial even for profitable business. (From my experience, there's often more to that kind of behaviour than merely trying to spontaneously cover up their forgetfulness.)

This is too relatable. I had tears. When I started 10th grade my mom announced that they were not going to celebrate birthdays for us adopted kids anymore. They only celebrated their bio son’s birthday. Kinda makes me still cry just thinking about that day.

For four years I've shared the same house with the same set of people. One of them has a birthday two days after mine. Only one of our birthdays is celebrated with gifts including a group bought Switch, and no one even mentions the other despite repeated reminders of when it is. Byron is too relatable.
This is why I never expect anything from other people on my birthdays. You won't be disappointed if you don't have high expectations. You can always count on yourself for a little celebration, treat, present, etc since you'd be in charge. Anything else that happens from anything/anyone will just be a nice surprise.
Poor Brian, nobody remembered his birthday. At least they noticed him this time.

Poor Byron. I almost started crying when he started getting happy, knowing that he will inevitably be crushed.
Well the point of this story is that he is being really embarrassing, because he cluelessly don't understand that his work colleges don't care about him. And it is super awkward that he hadn't got that.

This is sadly very relatable. I responded to a couple of OPs about the day (just started 10th grade at 13 years old) my mom announced that they would no longer celebrate their adopted kid’s birthdays. They would only celebrate their biological son’s birthday from then on. This video had me shedding tears for Brian, myself and my two adopted brothers.

This is special. The way this was written, shot and directed is all very deliberate and fantastic, but it needs to be carried by the performance. And Byron delivered way above and beyond. He perfectly navigated the emotional roller coaster this skit is supposed to be. The quiet desperation behind his joy is literally perfect! And the amount of ground you guys manage to cover in a 4 minute sketch. This is incredibly impressive work guys!

I can't decide for whom i feel sorry the most in bored series throughout the years. Adam, Hamish or Byron because these guys get easily stepped on alot lol. The acting is totally insane, writing is like real life but made in humorous way while still clinging to reality. If there ever was a limit to these guys talents in VLDL then they cross these limits every day for living. So impressive and i can't help but want more!

Something similiar happened to me....
I grew up in a household where we didnt celeberate birthday so its not a big deal for me to this day.
However in my 20s i worked in a IT helpdesk call centre. Think open plan floor 100s of staff split in to teams of 20.
Every week seemed to be someones birtnday somone would pop round with a card and asked to donate a pound(dollar)... i would chip in everytime .
Cause of this i kept an eye on my birthday month and during the week i assumed a collection was made for me as they usually did one without making the Bday boy/girl unaware.
Not a peep . Nothing . Not even anyone wishing me well . Worst part somone came round asking me to donate money to a bday following week. Never chipped in after that.
After i got married my partner who grew up with bdays surprised me ... i just told her i would spoile her silly on our annersary which i have done over 10 years but lets agree to skip bdays. Instead i would do something random and give her a nice surprise throughout the year.

When I was younger, birthdays were a big deal to me. When I lost my mother the day before my birthday, its been 10 years and it doesn't get any easier. I don't celebrate my birthday anymore. It is just a painful reminder. I don't make birthday wishes anymore. I wish simply to have had the time to let her know how amazing a mother she was, how much I took her from granted, and wish I only had another opportunity to tell her how much she meant to me.
Anyone that reads this, please don't make the same mistake I made. Call your mother now. I mean really, right now, and surprise her with a call simply to let her know how much you love and care for her. You'll take 5 minutes out of your day, and it will make her entire week knowing it.
My wife lost her grandmother on her birthday a couple of years ago. She lost her dad last year a week after her birthday. I know how hard that is watching her work through it. My thoughts go out to you and hope that next birthday is a bit better.

Not sure if it helps you, but it did help me. Try to realize that the fact you never got to say those things are YOUR burden. You are not sorry that your mother didn't hear those words from you, you are sorry about the fact that you were unable to say them in time. So it is just self-pity. Once you realize that, try to let go of the feeling.
