  • An estimated half a million men in the UK are addicted to steroids. In fact, the class C drug is the second most used drug after Cannabis. But steroids come with some pretty alarming side effects - from liver and kidney failure as well as mood swings and increased oestrogen which results in men needing breast reduction surgery. In this episode of High Society, we dive into the UK’s steroid epidemic - from the dealers selling it, to the young men getting hooked on it. How dangerous are steroids?

Yes, Gymshark capitalized on young male insecurities by aligning with the emerging male aesthetics trend. These physiques are evidently not naturally attained. Teenagers, being susceptible, can be swayed. Gymshark undeniably exerted a significant influence on this generation. They're now trying to shift their image to one that's more inclusive and diverse. Too late.

Very interesting video. I'm a pharmacy technician and I'd like to add something. In order to prepare solutions that are going to be injected into the body, it's crucial to have sterile lab conditions. The dealer in the video used a microfilter with a vacuum pump to get rid of impurities, which I supose is much more than other dealers do, but the materials used and the environment weren't sterile. For the liquid to be completely safe, he would need a laminar flow cabinet with some kind of UV irradiation to kill all the microorganism present (Sorry for my English, it's not my main language)

I started working out 17 years ago at the age of 35 due to my somewhat older wife having lost complete and total sexual interest in me. My initial idea was that I would put in 6 months of hard work and end up with a physique like a superhero movie star and she would love me again. I looked on all the bodybuilder websites and bought all the magazine and bought all the supplements and went to work. After 6 months, I definitely felt and looked better than when I started, but I looked nowhere near my goal. Nothing like I thought I would. And she couldn’t have cared less. But I fell in love with the act of lifting weights and I have continued for all these years. I’ve come to realize that those magazine and website workout programs are designed by and for people who use steroids. Steroids help you recover from a workout much faster than you can without them, and recovery is where your muscles grow. So I was doing these 5-7 day very lengthy routines, and I was beating my body to a pulp, giving my muscles no time to recover. Today, if I could train someone or advise them, I would definitely have a completely different plan for them than they will ever see in a magazine. Anyway, great video. Thank you!

People like Tom and David are doing great job by showing the actual damages that the abuse of steroids cause.
The UK should definitely test all their bodybuilders and ban every participant that test positive.
I wonder how a country with such a strict drug control policy like South Korea manages to get several fitness influencers and outstanding athletes, as seen in the Physical 100 TV show, or maybe they just get their AAS in Thailand, where they are legal.
This problem of abuse of AAS has been around since the late 70's between professional athletes, then moving to the bodybuilder community in the early 90's and it seems like it's never going to stop, which is so sad.

Some male teenagers have them due to hormonal imbalances during puberty and this can resolve spontaneously but they can also have this surgery done to relieve their embarrassment. Another I have observed are obese individuals who slimmed down. Peripheral fat tissue also increases estrogen and even after they slim down, they find that their chest looks puffy around the nipples nonetheless.

This just prove my idea that social media is going to drive a new modern craze like any other new fad or trend that we have seen in the past. This is a very big problem, women are going for the ripped look now and the influencers are not sharing the effects of doing so wether by steroid or not. The vast majority of these influencers, whether you believe it or not, are on gear, but they're presented to you as though they're natural. Obviously, people who've been in the community know what they're looking for, but young guys just starting out in the gym are often naive enough to believe that these people are natural, and that they can look like Simeon Panda naturally, then when they don't they turn to gear.

Great documentary and hats off to those providing the honesty within it. I’m now 36 and started training at around 21-22. In hindsight I was naive as to what was achievable natural, but as I have gotten older and more experienced (and stayed natural), I have realised two things:
    1. I realise now that my physique is something pretty damn good for no juicey (and frankly would hold its own against a lot of the smaller roid users), and
    B. I understand even less why anyone would just hop on gear so early on. That said, I also said no to class A drugs i nights out even when peers saw it as normal.
Keep lifting drug free people, you’ll be fit, healthy, feel good and you will achieve a great physique if you keep chipping away and believing in yourself. 💪🏽

I really loved watching this. I only wished that somebody would have also talked about SARMs, which are often considered pretty safe to take compared to steroids. Surely the potential side effects are not as dramatic as stuff like Tren, but the impact on your body is still massive. Messing up your hormonal balance will definitely cause you problems, unless you are already born with an imbalance that needs to be fixed. I am a skinny guy that always struggled in putting on muscle mass, despite notable dedication in training and diet. I am not gonna lie, I have been tempted many times by taking something, because I was always watching these shredded guys in the gym looking so good. Then I realized that what makes me feel good is to keep myself as healthy as possible. Starting to combine cardio with weight lifting brought me to a condition of stamina and endurance that I never had before. I went from running 1km to my first 20km in a few months. My sexual and mental health became as good as I could wish. Would I ever compromise all of that for bigger muscles? Never.

Uhm steroids are extremely safe and much safer than sarms which are very untested on humans and we don't really know the long term effects of them on the body like we do with aas and we know how to mitigate potential side effects and what to expect . We dont with sarms. Although they are weaker and less effective than aas they are way less studied and understood. Aas is not near as dangerous as people believe. They are bioidentical hormones we were born with .... 😂 and after 30-35 aas is actually good for you In many cases. Low testosterone and declining test is not healthy.

@@JLUX100 Sorry to disappoint but I do believe I know biology and science pretty well having a PhD in Molecular Biology. I have spent also lots of my free time learning about nutrition and supplementation, implementing and experimenting a lot of different regimens on myself. Last winter I pushed myself to eat 3200kcal a day, with high protein intake and whole food sources, and that much calories is a lot for somebody like me. I ended up gaining excessive body fat, my sleep quality worsened, my libido decreased. In the summertime, when I went down to 2200kcal a day, I felt better than ever. I was lean again and I liked myself way more. People who believe "you should eat more to get bigger" have no clues what genetics and metabolism are. Going against your own genetics will just lead you to get sick in the long term.

If you did you wouldn't have gotten fat by adding 1000kcal extra per day for a bulk 😂😂😂 lmfao and what was your protein intake daily and carb intake? Ypu should have been slowly increasing your caloric surplus in 100kcal increments every few weeks or per month. 😂😂 I love how you use such a shallow anecdotal example as if it's proof to support your claims. And what else did you do have you been talking your blood glucose and what ate your hormone levels at ? All of this factors in to your sleep and how you feel. Lmfao not how muxh you eat. How often were you eating ? Eating two massive meals doesn't do the same thing to your metabolism that eating 5-7 times per day does. Eat every 3-4 to hours and your metabolism will be muxh faster and help ypu process and Utilize that extra food intake. Ypu have no clue and you've showed it with this reply about metabolisms, nutrition and supplementation or bodybuilding in general. Again, you cant gain muscle cause you don't k ow what you're doing therefore can't est enough of the nutrition you need consistently. Y0u dont understand biochemistry, kinesiology, nutrition and supplementation, endocrinology or pharmacology. LOL I love you trying to tell someone that's an ex national athlete rugby player and a bodybuilder of 14 years that he doesn't know. I've been learning this stuff and APPLYING it for more than twice the length you went to school. I eat 3600kcal a day when bulking and I'm not fat. Some bodybuilders eat 7, 8k per day and domt get fat. Everyone's body is slightly different and everyone's metabolism is ever changing . You have to build up your Metabolism. The people who took steroids and didn't train gained more muscle mass than the naturals who trained. It's probably insanely hard to give up steroids once you see the gains you can make in a short amount of time.

It was all about the drugs, it was all about getting more money for more stuff. When I told both of them that I couldn't do it anymore, that they were addicts, we had no contact for years. One of them then made the jump. After years he stood in front of my door and said: you were right. He now has serious physical damage, but he is so far healthy again.
