What gets me is that San Marino never get the chance to play American Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu etc. They very rarely and pretty much only in friendlies get the chance to play Andorra or The Faeroe Islands or Liechtenstein.
These teams they are constantly put up against teams far far better than them - How would Hednesford Town like to be playing Man U, Evertonl and Villa every season without being able to spend money on players but only able to use players from Hednesford {heck let's make that the entire Cannock Chase}?
How would Liverpool like it if they had 6 games a season, 5 of which were against Burton Albion, Lincoln City, Rhyl, Albion Rovers and Chester City? And none of those 6 teams could pick players from outside their own towns/cities?
The likes of San Marino, American Samoa and Micronesia can only do the best they can with what they have and my hat goes off to them for trying despite the knowledge that they're gonna get slaughtered virtually every game!
This is why European Qualifying needs a pre-qualification section {which btw Oceania, CONCACAF and Africa already have! I'm not sure about Asia}.
Take the weakest 6 teams in Europe, put them in 2 groups of 3 and have the top team from each group play each other for ONE place in actual qualifying.
Even home and away that's a max of 6 games which can be played during the World Cup and European Championships every two years - This way they'd be over before actual qualifying even started.
Then the remaining 5 teams can play friendlies against small nations from elsewhere in the world over the next two years PAID FOR by the bigger nations in their qualifying zone {heck Germany or England shouldn't need to worry about bunging San Marino 100k a year to tour The South Pacific or The Caribbean!}.

There was also a counterpart of Tasmania in the GDR Oberliga. BSG Motor Suhl played one season (1984/85) in the East German top league, with only one game won, three draws and 22 lost, many of them with scores like 8-3, 7-1, 8-2...
As a fun fact, the team -now 1.SV Suhler- was sponsored at that time by the state-owned moped and mockicks factory Simson (that is why it had the name Motor), located in the city of Suhl and which made, among others, the iconic East German moped Schwalbe.

I´m from Spain and I remember that season of Sporting de Gijón (I was seven years old at the time). It was surprising to me to see that team losing (almost) every week.
PD: I have a DVD with the third game of Sporting de Gijón in that season. They lost to Mallorca 6-2 (I think the last three goals of Mallorca were scored in the last 10 minutes, and they even lost a player because he saw the red card before the first half ended).

In Argentina there's Brown de Arrecifes. They played in B Nacional (2nd tier) from 1997 to 2003, even reaching Playoffs for promotion to the Premier division two times, in 1999 and 2001. After the relegation to the 3rd tier (Argentino A), the hell began: in 2003/2004, they played 20 games and lost those 20 games (scoring 7 goals and receiving 51). In 2004/2005, they played on the 4th tier (Argentino B), where they played 20 games, tied 2 and lost 18, scoring 8 goals and with 61 against. After this, they went on to just play in their local league, except for some three random appearances on the 5th tier. So, there's some awful club which lost 38 out of 40 games, with two consecutive relegations.

Calling Sunderland one of the worst teams in history is laughable. They've had two awful seasons but historically (even up until three years ago), they've had tremendous successes. They won the First Division SIX times (1891-92, 1892-93, 1894-95, 1901-02, 1912-13, 1935-36), the FA Cup TWICE (1937 and 1973) and have won four incredible premier league relegation battles.

You might want to include the years involved next to each club name. Even though I applaud loyalty to fans who stick by their team during dark times like these, it still stings to remind them of these low points. Not to mention it can potentially be misinterpreted that the teams have always been a laughing stock.

Well... In Romania there is a team called Dinamo Bucuresti and i think last season they did not win any game at all. It is really sad though because they have so much history. Anyway this season they play in the 2 league and are mid table... Being relegated for the first time in their history.

What about Tasmia Berlin in the 1965/66 Bundesliga season?
They ended the season with 2 wins, 4 draws and 28 losses (used to be 8 points, would be 10 points with 3 point rule) in 34 games, only scored 15 goals and conceded 108 goals.
The last time that a team in the english first division conceded more goals per game on average than Tasmania did was in 1892 with FC Darwen conceding 112 goals in 26 games. However they also scored 38 goals, so their goal ratio was still way better than Tasmania's.
