- Do you have a need for speed? Then let's hop into a car powered by distorted kickdrums, cause we're gonna look at a genre that's the grindcore of techno.

Music theory: "Anything above 220 BPM is too fast to listen to."
Speedcore artists: "Hold my DAW"
Extratone:
Not just speedcore! For something similar, but more metal, just look at cybergrind! Some of that shit is close to 1000 bpm!
Hitech artists: so you're saying 220 is still fine?
More like anything above 220 BPM becomes half time to the listener, especially when you spread out the snare like pagefire-man did
a lot of technical death metal bands do around 350 BPM
I fucking love speedcore and I'm tired of pretending I don't.
Sometimes you just thrown on some speedcore and breakcore and just let your brain melt. It's good for the soul.
I binge entire SKRD!!! albums when doing homework. Helps me focus for some reason. It's like my brown/white noise, but with a shit ton of polish memes sampled haha
Diabarha is king to me.
Also for Splittercore,Suizidcore and Extratone. Diabarha is the best to me.
@@lars38010 diabarha was my gateway drug to SKRD!!! he will always have a special spot in my heart
Ha ha ha TQBF go brrrrrr
Quick little guide:
Speedcore: 300bpm or higher.
Splittercore: 600bpm or higher.
Extratone: 1000bpm or higher.
One note though: Extratone was created by DJ Einrich, who defined it as music at 3600bpm, saying it's the perfect bpm. But that definition got lost, and now everyone considers everything over 1000+ extratone. Except Pressterror, who calls his extratone suizidcore. So he's technically correct.
@@novahspins5153 Thank you for this additional note.
Let me make that guide a little bit bigger.
Terrorcore/Terror 170-300 bpm
Example: Striker - Never Surrender
Flashcore (can reach 1000+bpm)
Example: HFK - Reve, Creve
Suizidcore 1000-3600 bpm (sounds like a more aggressive Splittercore)
Example: PRESSTERROR - ICH HÖRE WAS WAS DU NICHT HÖRST & DAS IST SUIZIDCORE
Supertone 15.000-1.200.000 bpm
Example: Exp_23:25 & Blandix - Unexpected combination
Hypertone 1.200.000+bpm
Example: Exp_23:25 - The full universe in a few seconds
@@lars38010 An excellent addition. Thank you.
@@xjosex5802 No problem.
>distort kick
>10,000 bpm
Done!
Extratone be like
This is actually Extratone, lmao
as a speedcore/extratone/hypertone/etc. producer this is basically how it's made lol
@@cassiopeia3429 Yeah, but he accidentally mentioned extratone, not speedcore
As he wants to make that joke, lmao
@@kalliboymusic Who cares? The joke makes sense to me.
Speed core was created when John Speed tried to play hardcore twice at the same time
John Speed sounds like a loser
@@Pagefire indeed he is
If the music is faster than light then you can only listen to it in the darkness :0
Not possible. Sound waves can not travel no where near as fast as light can.
@@joedirt3563 🤓
If you can listen to it before 8pm, it’s pop music
@@joedirt3563wait until you hear extratone. ;3
Beautifully put
How to make Post-Punk has been delayed for a few weeks, so this was filmed to fill the void of February. Sorry for the inconvenience and love you all!
could always blend both genres and do a Wire video
super keen on this one!
You should do Noise Rock after that
Take your time! May I request an Extratone video? You thought 870 was too fast, boy that's a ballad compared to Extratone, lol!
Pls Make a video on industrial music
Can we get Industrial Metal??
that would be awesome
@@SomeDumbKid1 Um, no, Synthwave has nothing to do with Industrial music. Industrial is a form of experimental synth-punk, and Synthwave is a House, Eurodisco, and 8-Bit-derived. Industrial is heavy and electronic and avant-garde. Industrial Metal is Industrial combined with Metal, and I'm fairly sure it existed long before Synthwave.
@@darklordthomaspie6293 You think industrial metal existed long before early 1980's? I find that interesting.
@@2free2snakes industrial metal didn't, but industrial music in general was born waaaay before the 80s
@@darklordthomaspie6293 There are actually two "versions" or meanings for synthwave, since the term did exist in the 80s already, but was used only for a very small, niche scene. Mainly synth based New Wave and Post-Punk, that was very simple and minimal and some of that stuff could border a bit on EBM or Industrial, or be somewhat experimental.
A lot of the former synthwave music is now put into categories such as "minimal wave" or "cold wave". And I know that for a certainty, because I used to go to Goth nights where they played that stuff and advertised it as "synthwave" - and that was long before the current synthwave/outrun style of music was a thing. Afaik the shift happened in the late 00s, when online blogs and music writers were calling outrun "synthwave". So synthwave did kinda exist before, it just was not the same music we think of under that label now.
Pagefire looks like that cool cousin and that cool uncle at that same time.
@@randallflag1365 lmao
Pagefire is a group andris whos in the video is one of the members
He looks like all my norwegian relatives.
To be fair, Mobys 1000 is a pretty good song. And the fact that the new kids are all confused when after the speedup no "drop" occurs makes it even better.
I wouldn`t call it a "song" even less so a "pretty good" one but I guess we`ll just have to agree to disagree
I can see these patterns and hear these hitcircles... Somebody pLeAsE make it a map in osu.
You have to be one of the most cultured artists on youtube. I mean what haven't ya been able to produce and not literally be years beyond at least half of that genre in composing music. Even for filler this would make selling art at rave festivals alot better compared to whatever I'm about to hear if covid doesn't change my plans again.
Suggestions for future genre tutorial videos:
RABM (Red anarchist black metal)
DSBM (Depressive suicidal black metal)
Banjo slam
Deathcore
Dungeon synth
Crusader Metal (think Powerwolf) would be epic. It's like a religion-based subgenre of power metal
@@FierceMotorworks Oh damn, I never even heard of Crusader Metal before, but then again I don't really delve much into power metal. Yeah, that would be pretty cool although.
I would love to hear their approach to dungeon synth lmao
Plunderphonics would be interesting as well.
add midwest emo and skramz to that list, and i will be happy
For a speedcore song made in under 30 mins, this is great!
Most speedcore artists would probably spend at least an hour on just making the kick, I know I have spent hours on kickdrums alone myself. However, I don't make speedcore myself, I think the fastest I'd go on a track is 180 bpm since that gives room for good melodies and the like.
Give melodic speedcore a go. TQBF's albums from Wanderlust and up are so fucking beautiful.
@@fuzzybuzzy3159 I assume TQBF is a Japanese producer? I would imagine that's part of the reason his speedcore is so good. Japanese producers are really next level!
@@Hardcrafter2807 Nah she's Canadian but is heavily influenced by Japanese musicians and games.
@@fuzzybuzzy3159 Yeah, I found the bandcamp page after lol At first by looking up TQBF on Spotify I found a remix on Kobaryo's 2018 album and assumed it was the same person, and assumed since the remix was on Kobaryo's album that they'd be Japanese, but turns out that The Quick Brown Fox doesn't have anything on Spotify or iTunes.
@@Hardcrafter2807 Yeah she is CZcams and Bandcamp exclusively.
Not gonna lie: You could play this song at 4 AM at a party when the last Hardcore-heads are on the dancefloor and they would love it :D
for sure

We have "Grandma's Hacksaw Lobotomy and BBQ Spaghetti" and "Spaghetti Makeup". Will we be getting another spaghetti song to complete the trilogy?
Death Metal - “Spaghetti Entrails”
Now I'm waiting for
"How to make Extratone"
"How to make Supertone"
"How to make Hypertone"
No, supertone is faster than extratone.
And the fastest is hyperton, which comes after the supertone in speed
@@user-pj2sp9kh7g i'd rather listen to splittercore its more melodic especially Diabarha
@@Latios-zl4co i really love Diabarha too but he also wrote deathstep so that you know
Supertone and Hypertone aren't that popular, but basically they are just much faster. I'm honestly huge fan of speedcore, pressterror is my favourite.
Noice.
But what about Splittercore
,Suizidcore and Flashcore?
0:32 I SAW THAT OLLIE CLIP.
seems like pagefire has been in the rabbit hole
damn didn't noticed it
None can escape the rabbit hole. Soon all will join us in here.
0:32 A really fast zombie girl.
Oh no, even Andri is fallen in to the hole
Not gonna lie I'm pretty sure some of my dj friends would unironically play this at a rave, it slaps
Yes it does
I remember hearing stuff like this back in the late nineties, only it was called gabber and not speedcore.
Hardcore/Gabber has many subgenres. Speedcore is 1 of them.
Rob Gee?
A style of EDM that actually sounds dope and heavy. I got a friend who listens to mostly EDM, but a lot of it sounds poppy with female singers singing about "love" and "romance." I think I found something we can both be more into.
Also check out japanese artists like T+Pazolite, Kobaryo or DJ Myosuke
I feel like I've heard songs like these as background music for the Madness Combat series
I love how we got to see you create your gloriously-horrifying magic in real-time for this one, Andri. Great stuff man!
0:32 The rabbit hole consumes all.
0:32 *i see you're a man of culture aswell*
You guys got me so into cybergrind that I knew this genre before you made the video, except I prefer extratone and splittercore. I'm feeling pretty good about my research skills now.
You’re videos make me laugh and also help me make better soundtracks, keep up the good work, I love your content!
i like that by the end of these you actually create new good tracks for my playlist
Sorry for making bangers, we promise to never stop.

First time i've listened to Speedcore was in between 2004-2006 ..... The tune was TokyoStyleSpeedcore by M1dy ( crazy tune tho but not the best from him ) ..... Years after, i found Diabarha ( freakin' loud / powerful kicks from him ) .... I like his stuff

- Pirate Metal
- Dungeon Synth
- Dark Ambient
- Neofolk/Dark Folk/Pagan Folk
- Crust Punk
- Gothic Rock
- Darkwave

- Martial Industrial
- Terrorcore (I think it is a subgenre of Speedcore)
- Black Midi
- Power Electronics
- EBM
*Actually* The music shown as an example here is indeed what most ppl think of if the term "speedcore" is mentioned. However this style of speedcore is more of a meme than anything else. In fact some of the stuff was really spot on and had me lol`ing hard af XD Usually these tracks do follow a very basic formula and hardly offer anything artistic. Fans of this style as well the artists are often edgelords - as in they like the music cz it`s so obnoxious. The faster the better...*so hardcore meme* That`s also the reason why I among many other ppl refer to it as "Drrrrr" speedcore. As ridiculous as it sounds I also call it "mainstream" speedcore but that is because it has derived as a genre straight from mainstream hardcore. Artists who gave birth to this style are from the Netherlands or Germany.
Sadly few ppl are aware that there is a "school" or a "branch" of speedcore that is actually one of the most impressive electronic (sub)genres. It`s roots are way more experimental and avantgarde. . Tracks are way more technical not just compared to Drrr speedcore but pretty much most electronic genres. While a faster tempo is for the most part there "funnily" enough the BPM is not the only thing that matters here and a lot of times tacks don`t even follow the 4x4 structure. Instead of going full-on speedcore tracks often combine elements of IDM, psychedelic, ambient, noise etc. This school of speedcore comes out of France* **. It`s also the music genre with most noticeable female presence among the artists.
* NOT to be confused with "Frenchcore"
** a subgenre that was born out of this speedcore style is "Flashcore" although there are a lot of similarities between the two the latter does have it`s distinct characteristics. Even further "branching out" and fragmentation can be observed with time as artists who were heavily influenced by Flashcore have then built upon it to the extent where they`ve aquired a distinct and unique style.
If anyone is actually interested in the actual music (and not only by my tendencies to sound as a snobby elitist while talking about obscure musical genres) I`ll be glad to share the names of artists and/or various bodies of work.
So what music artist would you consider to make speedcore? Still here to recommend anything?
@@ohwowitsme8548 No Name and Mouse (they are sisters), Neurocore, Atomhead AKA Unda Cova, HFK, BWK, La Peste, SAVE, Le Talium etc. etc. :)
Woah pagefire doing Techno? This is crazy
As an experimental producer I can highly recomend using extra tone samples for risers
Good content
Hahaha ffs man. I've been a speedcore producer for well over a decade at this point. Half of me is pissed but the other is laughing. Thanks for not taking a dump on the genre like a lot of people do. Honestly I've heard a lot worst than that you've done, which is impressive considering how quick you did it in.
Obv there's loads more to the history apart from Moby (which is like, the only time he's made even remotely fast), but it's a great genre with a very active and welcoming scene. What's hilarious is that you've used a pic of one of my mates during his gigging years which bought me back!
If you ever wanted to do a pt.2 I'm down to help, I'm @scDotDave on Twitter. Would love a chat. Cheers, sc.Dave!
It's a pity you didn't look into Bloody Fist records from Newcastle, Australia.
Their production process was pretty much:
1. Piss people off enough that they leave threatening voicemails
2. Sample threatening voicemails
3. Put a 909 kick through a distortion pedal and play at ridiculous speed
4. Chop up some sampled breaks because it just doesn't sound crazy enough, dammit!
5. Release, pissing more people off and restarting the whole cycle
actually sounds kinda good
The whole time I was waiting for MC Ride to start throwing bars on top of that song
