Nike Doesn't Understand History (A Response Video)

- This may well be a record for me. I literally saw the commercial from Nike at about 7:45. Got home and immediately threw together this video off the cuff and responded to it. I know I said that I'd do Highlander's video next, but I NEEDED to address this first. I NEEDED to do this.
This might be one of the worst commercials I've ever seen from Nike. It is an insult to history, an insult to dynastic cultures, and an insult to sports in general. It has no self awareness, it mocks heroes of history and sportsmen of today and all for the sake of...I have no idea.

I’m guessing she also got a hard F for her sexism, racism and heterosexism, as well as her lack of self awareness when she calls all that stuff in ancient history as “drama”! If I were a teacher and she said all that, I would seriously have a word with her parents.

I think there's a pretty simple way to put this: Alexander the Great was so influential that he had an epic 8 1/2-minute song written about him by heavy metal gods, Iron Maiden. Can the same be said about the Olympic Women's Basketball Team? Or better yet -- ANY basketball team? Nope. I rest my case.

It's funny they want to elevate women by lowering everyone else to standards lower than their accomplishments. It's that thing we're taught with not putting others down to raise ourselves up that they fail to grasp far into adult hood
This "dynasty" is so insulting that it makes other's such as the Borgia seem like good role models.
Being gay, black or feminist does not make you special. It's not an accomplishment. When you make your sexuality, race, political ideology, your identity you are announcing to the world that you are without substance and boring.

The fact I got a Nike ad on this video makes it oh so much better, the passion here hits one of the thousand points that is wrong with our society. So many people preach about togetherness and being one as a nation and yet dribble (no pun intended) like this gets pushed out to make people feel "good". Fantasic video Raven

The women’s olympics soccer team couldn’t even beat high school kids. Doubtful the basketball team could do good vs a pro team.

It's the way of the world unfortunately although I definitely agree with you I love history and they fact they tear down people like Alexander the great and the countless female rulers you've mentioned is appalling because this just shows that history is fast being forgotten
At first I was okay with Nike having that name. It is the name of the Greco/Roman Goddess of Victory and personal chariot driver of Zeus so to me it seemed fitting that a company that makes sports gear that helps whoever uses it get better so they can have more victorys was okay.
But this shit is not okay.

Yeah... this ad reeks virtue signaling all over it. Probably because the company thinks stuff like inclusive and representation is hot topic, especially for newer generations.

When you trash others for your success doesn't make you humble and if you want to erase history (In your mind) go ahead but the fact still is Men's Olympic basketball is the true Dynasty which between 1936-72 had 63 consecutive wins NO losses with (are you ready) 7 straight golds so miss me with that nonsense of dynasty because I didn't even mention the Dream Team yet. And please, please, please say they are just as good as the men like the women's soccer team did so I can see that Dynasty crumble when a bunch of teenage boys respectfully humble their asses back down to earth. There is an old saying "Don't let the stars get in your eyes" I used to tell that to the best up and coming talent in the MLB when ever I would get a chance to talk to one personally (Best example Rey Ordonez of the Mets, Exactly WHO????) and not one of them ever listened to me and now they are humbled because reality hit them in the face hard realizing you're nothing without your team and more importantly your fans which you don't talk down to yet seems to be a more popular (and stupid) thing with players these days.

It would be so dope to see you compare historical ideas here on your channel, I actually did not know these female led dynasties you mentioned, I knew about Cleopatra but not specifically, my understanding is that patriarchal systems always bested any matriarchal systems in history but that still does not take away from the legacy these women have created, just like your videos on Nobushi, Nuxia, it would be really cool to see you talk about some women led societies just to get some perspective, loving your videos, just stumbled upon you about a week ago watching your “heroes of history” series
