OnePlus Nord 2 5G Review | Best New Mid-Range Smartphone?

- Reviewing the OnePlus Nord 2 5G, one of the best mid-range smartphones of 2021 and stiff competition for the Pixel 4a. While Google's phone boasts superior camera results, the OnePlus Nord 2 serves up strong performance from the Dimensity 1200 chipset. Check out my unboxing for a full tour and here's my thoughts after a week of testing.
Mediatek's platform delivers 5G support across two SIM slots while also handling gaming without stress. I did find the phone got quite hot with hardcore Android titles like Genshin impact, but CODM, PubG etc will run fine for hours. Speed isn't an issue, battery life is also a winner.
The OnePlus Nord 2 5G camera hardware can take good looking photos in most conditions, although rivals like that Pixel 4a beat it in strong and low light. I was happy enough with most of my snaps and video however.

ive been using the nord 2 for about a week now, and i cannot explain how smooth the UI is compared to the previous Samsung Ui i had been using. the only doubt i had was that the tempered glass wasn't as smooth as id expect it to be.
How is the battery life for it

OnePlus gave 2 system updates after unboxing, also fixed FHD/HDR streaming!
Love the primary sensor Camera!
Selfi camera is also good, ultra wide is ok, (has one extra 2mp garbage)
They will update few bugs/issues soon I am loving support from OnePlus!
Battery life is very good, also very fast charging (in the box ;)
Very good regular performance, gaming also good!
Only one thing I miss is a Headphone Jack!!!!!!!!!!

I enjoyed my Nord 1 but was frustrated by the camera in all but perfect lighting. Pre-ordered the Nord 2 partially on impulse on the grounds that it was a Nord 1+ bigger battery and better camera, but enjoying it so far. It's more of the same but the auto brightness (for me) is far better, the first was so dim and had to be manually adjusted. I hadn't actually realised how much I missed stereo speakers and the display appears to be better in spite of being almost identical on paper.
How's it holding now it also has a strong dimensity 1200 hopefully we'll optimised in the future

Great review, but for the asking price the photos from main sensor are over sharpened and under whelming, and that ultra wide 8 mpix has no place in this price range compared to Samsung A52 5g..
I'm watching this on the OnePlus node 2, and I am damn enjoying it. Great step up from my now broke OP 5. Some stuff is missing that I hope they add soon such as I cannot find a way to clone the discord app as I found it useful to be logged into my 2 accounts at once whilst using my OnePlus 5. However other than that I don't really have much bad to say, the battery life is incredible, to me at least, and the display is ample even tho it is not 4k.

Great Video. I have been using Nord 2 since a couple of days now, really enjoying the UI as I was using Honor before. Camera is decent overall it's very easy to use. BTW, where do you get these wallpapers from? Cheerzz

@@TheRealHassan Battry is decent, I use my phone mostly for video and bit of gaming. It last for a day, but the charger is awsome, charges in 30 minutes.

Have been using this phone for 2 days now, one thing you forgot to mention is the WiFi6 and the Carrier aggregation on 4G+ bands as well as the 6 5G bands. The connectivity is Supersonic.

Just got Nord 2 phone. I liked very much. Fast changing, good and almost clean oxygen/android experience feels really nice after Samsung phone.

@@vaibhavikamath7282 its a good camera,the only bad thing about the nord 2 is that it doesnt have an official ip rating(but if it has a red rubber ring at the sim tray that means that it is water resistant,just wasnt tested
Great video as always im going to buy a new phone soon im between the samsung galaxy a52s and the oneplus nord 2 but i can't decide wich one to get the things that i really like about the oneplus nord 2 is the fast charging 65w and the 256 Gb and in my region i can only get the samsung galaxy a52a with 128 GB wich for me is not enough space
Looks good, but no Haze Blue version of the 256gb model in the UK. Sadly there's no memory expansion slot. So only 128gb in the interesting colour.

The specs are pretty great no doubt. The camera is the best highlight of the phone IMO. Dimensity 1200 AI is a powerful choice
No telephoto camera and the cpu is laggy sorry. Even just simple apps.
Bought the Nord 2 mostly for the quality of the main camera, which does indeed edge out the one on my older Huawei P30 Pro, a phone that cost twice as much when new. Sure, there's no telephoto lens on the Nord 2, but I used the one on the Huawei only a few times anyway. Given that the software optimization by OnePlus isn't very good (yet), I'm satisfied by the results. Night mode is also fine. Unfortunately, the ultrawide is pretty mediocre, but I knew that before I bought the phone. Everything else about the phone is okay or better than okay, so I would recommend this phone within its price range.

Not that your question was aimed at anyone but the host , but I was between phones a few months back and bought a Redmi note 10 pro. For £260 in the UK it's a hell of a lot of phone for the cash and the screen is beautiful
i still have my OP 5 and its still great even with a bit of tape stuck on it to hide screen crack, tried OP 8 or was it 9 ;) didn't like it one bit... must be the old age or smth but I absolutely hate having no physical buttons...

I'm so puzzled on why there aren't videos comparinf the Oneplus Nord 2 and the Samsung Galaxy A72.
They are in the same price range and very similar, but I am heavily in doubt on which on to buy because of the camera difference and the AUX port missing on the Oneplus.
