- Here is a project for any softball or baseball lover. The best DIY tee I've ever used or seen. A hitting range virtually as versatile as you want. Extremely durable. And of course, inexpensive. One more nice factor: simple to make.

Kids are adorable! Thanks for the DIY!! Your son reminds me of my boy when he was young...
What a patient dad! Great job Dad!
Oh that was fun to watch again! They are such a joy to parent!
Great video and supreme patience Dad. Thanks for the instructions.
Thanks for watching!
Shout out Bat Hound, great dad. I will be trying but without the previous base, using a wood base and plumbing pipe
That is a great idea. Let us know how it goes if you think of it. Thanks for watching!
Honestly I like my diy tee design and functionality better than all those. They are all excellent as well but mine has more pros in my opinion:
-my telescopic stem separates from the base via 3/4” threaded connection assembly.
-once separated it slips into rests on side of base to become a carrying handle that’s easy to carry to and from practice, easily stores in gear bag, vehicle big and small and at home taking up just a little more space than a standard monopoly board game box
-all the parts are extremely budget friendly and available almost entirely from local Home Depot. Only pieces that need to be ordered are the rubber ball holders from Amazon $16 per pack of 3 and they don’t require any gluing or fastening to install.
-the tee is available in both youth and adult sizes. The adult scopes from 28” to 52” (+/- 1.0”) measured from ground to bottom of ball.
-the telescopic system is friction designed and also uses a bored out school chair rubber foot.
-base is 8”x 8” x 3” laminated wood of choice (plywood, hardwood, construction grade) and can be custom painted, stained, hydro dipped, Vinyl wrapped etc.
-all bases are top coated with Helmsman Spar Varnish via a micro layering application process of no less than 10 coats. All coats are thinned at 1:1 to guarantee full surface coverage. All coats are sanded between to remove imperfections and also harbour a top quality bond to next coat applied. Spar varnish is boat finish and incredibly tough and also waterproof and one more bonus is its integrated UV ray protection and resistance to boot. And it’s legit I can attest to the lasting protection from even slight sun fading after a full year outside unprotected on a patio coffee table top refinished that hasn’t even faded at all to date. Which is actually more like 16 months or so now.
-base of tees are affixed with highly durable 1/2” thick vinyl weather/abrasion/moisture resistant layer to lengthen life of wooden base. Vinyl base is honeycomb styled underneath and he top is roughened and installed with 2 part epoxy applied to entire top surface completely before being mechanically pressed and held for entire curing process. It won’t come off unless it takes some chunks of the base too and at that point what tee could survive that amount of carnage anyways haha. DIY or store bought alike lol.
-I would post a picture of the finalized tees here but it won’t let me. The video I have uploaded is of the initial prototype from early last spring when i tested and refined it. But I’ll try and add a picture montage of an adult and youth version to show the features and quality build and design.
Thanks Bat Hound love your vids man! Keep crushing it and I look forward to your future bat reviews!😎👊
Sounds great! Are you able to post a link to the video?
fantastic.. I have 2 of these bases and as per them offering minimal height, this is the perfect fix bro!! thanks for making this...
Lee Hanson thanks for the comment. Glad to be able to make it. I hope you enjoy them 👍
Dude this was a perfect video it just made my tee better for less the cost!!!👍🏾👍🏾
Great to hear!
Quarantine project with my kids. Thanks buddy👍
Nice! Let me know how it goes.
gonna have to make one and you sure had plenty of help awsome vid
I hope you love it as much as I have. Let me know how it goes. Thanks for the support!
Much respect bro!!
Thanks for the support!
Assume ! I’m going to try it !!
Were you able to give it a try? Curious how it went.
Great video!!! Where’d you get the shower pan liner in that size? All I can find is liner in 5’X6’.
Thanks for watching! I get it at the Home Depot by me. It hangs on the shelf in the plumbing section I believe, and I have to get an employee to cut it for me. It comes in 4' widths, and you can buy it by the foot, so it makes for a 4' X 1' section. Hope that helps.
The Bat Hound Softball Reviews and Tips thanks bro!! This helps a ton!!
Good job guys & girls, thxs
thanks for watching!
Good to know dekembe mutumbo can hit off this
@ bat hound sure will have a good one bud!!
You too man, thanks!
Awesome job dad!!! This is the first video I watched last night in search for a slow pitch softball tee... I have since watched probably four more and I am smitten over your swing!!!
I want to change my above average baseball swing where I usually hit 1 to 2 HR’s a game to on demand whenever I want...
So best training video to change my swing to a softball hitting swing???
Curious about your hand grip you said you hold the bat overlap I think in your grip video???
What city in Wisconsin are you? I’m in Menomonee Falls, I want to set up a net in my garage like yours...
Is that your primary exercise to keep your awesome physique and 32 inch waist😆???
We’ll done and again Awesome job being an obvious Awesome Dad!!!

Thanks for checking out the channel! Ken VanBogeardt has some great videos on youtube for hitting instruction. For my swing, I found the most benefit in gaining pop by switching to the drop-down, full-overlap grip. I have a video on that from last year: czcams.com/video/KBQ4tQaSiPU/video.html.
I also found getting my hands back increased my power. I did a video on that as well. czcams.com/video/jA9Kq6z2RoY/video.html
But I generally try to work at one thing at a time :)
I'm just down in Milwaukee. We should set something up to take some bp as the weather warms up here. Feel free to message me on my facebook page, or email me at: bathoundsoftball@gmail.com
If you end up making the net, let me know how it goes.
I wasn't able to find any used tees for sale, so I purchased a new tee for about $22. Used this video to turn the baseball tee into the perfect, inexpensive softball tee. The hardest part to find for purchase was the shower pan liner. Eventually found it cut to length @ Home Depot. Thanks for passing along these plans to make an inexpensive, effective, and easy softball tee! (Curious, what height do you usually have your tee set at?)
khand187 great to hear it is working out for you!! If you notice any ways to improve it feel free to let me know. Yes I could have stressed more clearly where I get the liner from. The Home Depot near me allows you to purchase sections from their big roll, by the foot of four foot wide sections. I think it is around $4 for a 4x1 ft section, so about $1 for each square ft piece. As far as height, I sort of range from my waist line to my mid upper body.
@@bathound I did the same. 4x1. Now I'm set for tee tops. I'm really not sure this design can be improved. It does everything that it's supposed to do.
Mr. Bat Hound sir. Just converted my tee using your video. I messed up on how much tape I put on the 1 inch, but it's still usable. I can't wait to use it. I'll give you feedback once I do.
Robert Worley awesome! I hope you like it. I look forward to hearing how it works for you.
I gave it some work today and it was perfect! Thanks for the video. It has made my bp much better.
Robert Worley great to hear! Thanks for the update! Enjoy
The bat mic is a cool prop. But it would have been better if it had been turned on :-)
Yeah this operation isn’t the highest tech that is for sure. Thanks for watching.
A patient dad👍 Thank you for this video really helpful. Im stuck before this😂
thanks for watching!
@@bathound yeahh weclome. Keep up posting👍
Respect.
Thanks for watching!
Great video, I was wondering if I could get a list of the parts for convenience?
Thanks for watching! Sorry i don't have items listed out. That would be a good idea to do at some point. Unfortunately I don't have that completed at this time, sorry.
@@bathound hey man, that's perfectly fine
Where did u get the shower pan liner from
Na va I picked it up from Home Depot. At the one near me it is in the plumbing isle. There is a big roll of it on the shelf. I have to get an employee to cut it for me. I get it in a 4’x1’ section so I have four tops. I hope that helps 👍
@@bathound ok thanks
that's no bat pup.. that's batman!
haha
You have lots of patience my friend.
By the grace of God, in certain areas I have general patience, but for other areas it is more difficult haha. Thanks for watching.
week end project...….
Ken R go for it! Let me know how it goes.
the pan liner is not durable and does not hold up well to transport. If the tee falls over on its side, when you pick it back up the liner will be bent and will hold that bent shape for a while... won't hold up to heavier training balls either, a better option is 1/16th thick neoprene solid rubber sheet (amazon or ebay) - also, when wrapping the topper around a pipe, the liner will break at the tip of the pipe, I've found that using 1/2 plastic rod (purchased from ebay) with a rounded off top makes it much less likely that the topper will be cut where it meets the rod. To round off the top I put the 1/2 plastic rod in a drill chuck and then spin it against some coarse grit sandpaper like a lathe which takes the sharp edges off of the rod and rounds it.
Finally, the metal pipe clamp to hold the liner on is an awful idea, kids will most definitely miss that low and damage their bat on it... so much better to use tape (athletic, hockey, electrical - all work) to hold the topper on
Thanks for the tips and ideas!
