Please finally pay athletes a bonus for breaking the WR plus an additional bonus for the gap to the old WR. This is just ludicrous. If bad luck strikes, the boy will get injured before he can show his full potential in official events...
Same issue as Bubka back then. He definitely could have gone considerably higher than 6.15 had he not taken the WR centimeter by centimeter to get WR bonuses from IAAF and USSR, and also if he had stronger opposition ( altough he had much stiffer competition than Mondo has )
@@Miiiiiiighty Mondo has stiffer competition by far. 2 other guys at this meet jumped 6m! This is only the 3rd time a 6m vault didn’t win and the first time to get 3rd. Bubka only jumped against a few 6m guys, Mondo has to compete against 7 regularly.
Every year, prizes should be given to a competitor if no one breaks their record or to the new record holder! That way we know they are doing their best. They deserve the chance to shine at 100%!

@soulkeeper4039 Well the Pole Vault WR stood no longer than 6 years. If a runner havto crush an "impossible" WR by like 5 sec or so - something is off. Looks like point system favor Pole vault.
@@jkdure umm Mondo uses the same poles as Bubka did. It actually got harder as the pegs the crossbar rest on are shorter and the crossbar ends are only flat on one side as opposed to square when Bubka jumped. How about pay WR breakers by the number of points they beat the old mark by... but you can't argue with tried and true sportsmanship. Give them a show every time even if it's only 1cm at a time.

We have to take care of rare talents like him.
I think it is not fair to compare WRs in different sports : In high jump or pole vault you just set the WR slightly more then previous one and then you try to achieve it. But now imagine that you want to achieve WR for instance in a long jump just by reaching "old WR + 1cm more" so that you can do it multiple times in a future again...
@@TotalRunningProductions Looks like point rewards favor pole jump. (needs redoing) Just wrong when someone crushes a "impossible" WR by 3 seconds while a pole jumper make it by 1 cm and get higher score

Not sure how all that scoring goes for that silly ring but his slight upping of his own record certainly is not nearly the achievement that was Ingebrigtsen's 3000m, breaking the 30 year old record by 3 seconds.
@@jkdure no not in the same way. Just because a record stands for a long time doesn’t automatically mean it’s harder than another. Also the 3000 isn’t a regular event so it’s not run every week to have an attempt to be broken or trained specifically for.
@@michaelschultz1104 "Just because a record stands for a long time doesn’t automatically mean it’s harder than another." There is literally no better measure of how impressive a record is than how long it has stood for. Making up "what a human is capable of" is arbitrary nonsense.
@@curtisbme ok so if a record lasts 100 years because it’s raced once every decade it’s better than one that lasts 10 years that’s raced weekly? Come you all don’t seem to grasp statistics or physics. Just FYI before Mondo the PV record was broken once in 2014 and prior to that it was 1994. Bubka jump 6.15 in 1994 then Lavillenie jumped 6.16 in 2014 while Mondo just jumped 6.26 this weekend. That increase in height is equivalent to almost 15 seconds in a 3k race so yeah it’s a bigger accomplishment. Facts over feelings.
You know at this point, I think a lot of guys where holding back at the Olympics with how much amazing races we are seeing coming out of the diamond league
I love the idea but as Jakob said it was unfair. The 3000m WR is one of the hardest ever and Jakob would have to break it by over 2 secs (which he unbelievably did) but Mondo would just have to do 6.17 when he has been jumping 6.25. So just an easy jump for him to win. Maybe this just shows how good Mondo really is, or is the scoring unfair like Jakob said? What do others think?
I think they should reconsider their pole scoring system since the equipment has evolved. You can't compare the points done for a 6,15 jump done with the 1980's poles to the ones done with today's much lighter, carbon poles that store and return a lot more energy

Imagine being THAT dominant
This guy is another freak of nature: a generational athlete! I don't know how we keep getting faster, higher, stronger -- Is there no end? 😲 As a side note: who won the ring?!
Mondo duplantis won the ring
@@Artemis-v8i But Jakob was the one that deserved the ring
Please finally pay athletes a bonus for breaking the WR plus an additional bonus for the gap to the old WR. This is just ludicrous.
If bad luck strikes, the boy will get injured before he can show his full potential in official events...
Don't worry he's earning so much more with sponsors/advertising
Best track & field CZcams channel ever.
Yes, he it seems will break it once more several times. He reigns in that field and it seems not even one is threatening his other records.
Mondo is easily capable of 6.30
Duplantis is the Sotomayor of the pole vault !
Total domination of an event
duplantis's daily routine : Eat break WR sleep 👍
I feel like if there was another 6.30+ jumper out there then Mondo would be doing 6.40s. It's a shame we'll never find his true potential
His ancestors surely vault at the castles.
😂😂
Every year, prizes should be given to a competitor if no one breaks their record or to the new record holder! That way we know they are doing their best. They deserve the chance to shine at 100%!
This guy is phenomenal.
The best EVER!!
17’ as a freaking freshman in high school?!!!
This guy is amazing - to totally dominate and raise the bar in the sport the way he has done is nothing short of incredible. Bubka was a generational athlete, but this guy is the greatest we've ever seen.
This guy is incredible. Its not fair at this point.
That dude is the GOAT. We won’t see anyone as good ever again I think.
People say that every era where someone is dominant
The modern day Sergey Bubka
Way better
Bro found a glich and he is farming the money hahahahahah
Oh, i just love Armand.
I’m so glad he’s competing under a Swedish banner. They treat him well, and gave him opportunities that US sport refused to.
Meh, he's still more American than Swedish. 🇺🇸 We'll let the sweeds have their participation trophy though, whatever makes mom happy
@@sethwoodsyt you come across as totally ignorant of the facts and history there. Or are you just a keyboard troll?
@@sethwoodsyt It's more like your participation trophy bro. He is more american but chose to compete for Sweden..? WTF ... Who would prefer to do this ???
Reality is that the US track and fields federation is mad and should have thrown enough money at him to make him compete for the US.
un ragazzo contro se stesso! DUPLANTIS!!!!!!! mitico
Wow! I remember reading the same thing about Sergei Bubka a few decades ago - that he could have gone higher but chose to raise the bar a cm at a time.
At this point, they may be considering replacing the mat with a pool.
Ingebrigsten deserved the special price of the event way more. Come on, she broke a very old & strong world record by 3 seconds and Mondo just added another 1cm to his own record with a lot room for improvement in the future. It doesn't seem fair.
Scoring system is set by what they believe a human can do. Mondo is doing things people didn’t believe possible even.
@@michaelschultz1104 The point deduction should be rewamped. the equpiment has evolved (lighter poles that give more energy return than earlier) Has to be easier to get higher jumps now than earlier.
Pole jump WR stood for 6 years before Mondos first time braking it, Ingebrigtsen crushed a WR that stood for 28 years. Ingebrigtsen deserved it
@soulkeeper4039 Well the Pole Vault WR stood no longer than 6 years.
Also if you want to go with that thought process why aren’t you discounting Jakob, as he had wave light technology, pacers & track surfaces are superior to 28 years ago. Pretty silly to say one has more advancements than the other without really stopping to think about the other. I get it you must be more of a Jakob fan or running fan as opposed to field events. But do some research and see for yourself.
@@michaelschultz1104 Ok wanna go there - well 80 - 90 was the EPO era. Jakob still crushed the WR
And no Mondo dont use the same as Bubka did. Carbon fiber was introduced in 2007
The crazy thing he only took 5 volts during that competition and broke the world record on his second attempt imagine having to wait that much time and keep calm and patient and still stay cool
And this was the first event attempting 6.26 m.
Does anyone maybe have a tips to mentally prepare you for the nationals in sprinting?
The king of pole vault!!!
How about pay WR breakers by the number of points they beat the old mark by... but you can't argue with tried and true sportsmanship. Give them a show every time even if it's only 1cm at a time.
Will he ever stop? What's his athletics score
Duplatis : Jump,money ,wiches repeat
Incredible, next 6.27m and probably 6.30m next year!
I wish there were MORE events, just imagine how many times he has broken it at home at practice. It almost feel like wasting talent, ofc you should not have events like every week that be a little much. But ATLEAST 1 per month! This guy can go much higher and time is ticking. We have to take care of rare talents like him.
We alreadly have diamond leagues at least once a month. He’s alreadly broken the world record twice this month.
i thought that too. he was very interested in the prize. what an exciting competition!!
this guy is a freak
if i had Mando's abilities, i would also farm the hell out of that world record payout
Bubka did WRs 1 cm at a time too. Get that money
It won't be too long before Duplantis reaches his peak performance, at which point he'll have to make maximum effort while it's still possible.
In some way that control of your long and triple jumps would be as impressive....
If you take a look at his hips at the top on this clearance, you see that there's room to go higher.
Who won the ring, Mondo or Jakob?
Mondo - his 6.26m = 1339 points - Jakob's 7:17 3k = 1320 Points
Apparently Jakob’s wr is equivalent to a 6.19 pole vault
@@TotalRunningProductions ok thanks, I was hoping Jakob won it but Mondo is just unstoppable
@@TotalRunningProductions Looks like point rewards favor pole jump. (needs redoing)
Just wrong when someone crushes a "impossible" WR by 3 seconds while a pole jumper make it by 1 cm and get higher score
@@jkdure its because its duplantis. Noone in history has jumped close to 6,25 only him. Its not just 1 cm, its 1 cm higher than an already untouchable performance
Just name the event after him at this point. The Mondo Event.
They should require pole vault bar to be set to at least 2cm over the previous record for a world record attempt.
Everybody fighting for 2nd place😂
Not sure how all that scoring goes for that silly ring but his slight upping of his own record certainly is not nearly the achievement that was Ingebrigtsen's 3000m, breaking the 30 year old record by 3 seconds.
It’s based on physics and what a human is capable of. Mondo is in Usain Bolt territory in what is believed to be capable by a human.
@@michaelschultz1104 And Ingebrigtsen is not? WR from that time period (epo era) and Jakob is still crushing it.
Jesus walked on water... Mondo. hold my beer, I'll show you something.
Get it while he can , one injury and the gravy train is over.
Pretty unfair that by going 10cm under his own record, he'd get the same score as Ingebrigtsen smashing a 30 year old world record
I am sorry, but, as incredible as Duplantis is, Ingebrigtsen's 3,000m record is more deserving of that ring, in my eyes.
You know at this point, I think a lot of guys where holding back at the Olympics with how much amazing races we are seeing coming out of the diamond league
Yeahhh, the olympics only pay if you medal, for most athletes it's an exposure meet.
I am surprised the photographers didn't trip him and ended his carere!
Many have done this mistake. They only break by 1cm every time to make $$$ - Many have jumped almost 40cm higher in practice!
Who ? 😂
