The m-14 was an excellent weapon. Very accurate in the hands of someone who was trained to use it. It was absolutely reliable , you couldn't make it jam. I carried one for 11 1/2 months in Vietnam. This movie is Oliver Stone bullshit. My unit worked in that area around the same time and after and most of the combat scenes are grossly inaccurate.
