  • When I saw this old stump I knew turning it into wall art would be a long shot. But I was up for the challenge so I decided to give it a shot.

    This project turned out incredible, Scott! I really like what you did with what you had to work with. I fully suspect you would probably create a masterpiece if someone gave you a handful sawdust and half a dozen pieces of bark! You are the Guru of wood wall art. Thanks again!

    Suggestion: After fitting the pieces together of the desired shape you want, and outlining the pattern of the shape onto the support wood base, take painters tape and loop around the sides circumference taping to hold the pieces in place, then gently slide the pieces off of the wood base. When you're ready to place the pieces back onto the base support, just slide the base support back under the taped pieces of wood, matching the outline you drew of the pieces of wood upon the base support. You'll save a lot of time than having to put the pieces back together onto the base support like a jigsaw puzzle. Great artwork though. Aloha from Hawaii.

  • @meanqueensuperscrimper8908

    Wow, that certainly was a challenge, the biggest challenge yet. You treat the wood with so much respect. I was doubtful at first if it was at all possible to make something out of a pile of rotting stump, but you nailed it. You manipulated it into the perfect piece of wall art. Nice to see your cat, my cat was watching it with me.
    My friend has tidied up the pieces of wood I found with his power tools, now I can do something with it.

    • @scottoconnor
      @scottoconnor  Před 6 lety +2

      Yea, I didn't really know what would happen when I cut into the stump. I guess I was in the mood to challenge myself a little bit. Glad you noticed Wooley. He made very brief appearance but at least he got in the video. He comes and hangs out with me when I'm working sometimes but he mostly likes to hang around the house. Glad you got your wood tidied up, hope you can put it to good use.

    When you started on this one. Well. ! I was betting against you making art from it. I mean I have some like that in an old wood pile on the property. But you did a fabulous job. In fact it is the best yet to me of all your work I have seen. I'm eating crow on this one.
    I am 72 years old and done wood working all my life. Now you have given me a renewed passion for the art of it.

      That's great to hear Robert! The main objective of my videos is to give inspiration to others. My other hope is that people will start to look at old wood in new ways. There's a lot of potential in an old stump, sometimes you just need to cut it into slices and put the pieces together to see it :)

      Oi José,
      Valeu o comentário.
      O que o artista falou é que assim que ele viu aquele tronco oco e envelhecido, achou que deveria tentar fazer dele uma arte de parede, mesmo que fosse uma tarefa sem certeza de acerto. Ele achou que talvez ele se tornasse um monte de po-de-serra e cavaco. Contudo, com o andar dos trabalhos, as coisas foram se combinando e tomando forma.
      As vezes, disse ele, certas ideias meio difícil de ser completadas com sucesso, valem a pena o desafio.
      Eu sou da Bahia, mas moro no Pais de Gales.
      O trabalho dele tem muito do gosto de fazer por diletantismo. Adoro usar o que a natureza oferece.
      Um grande abraço pra você e boa sorte com as artes que faz ou aprecia na Amazônia.
